Other highlights later on series include a fucking world war between massive moving cities and a robot zombie dictator who is a character from the first book with an army of industrially manufactured robot zombie soldiers. I kind of like how it could have been easy to play the central conflict as good vs. evil, but writer actually goes on is way to make it more balanced.

A Confusion of Princes, by the same author. The story was originally meant for a video game, but the Stages/Level system in the story works for serialized publication too.
Farseer Trilogy. Kid assassins, royal intrigue, loyal wolf buddy. DRAGONS. This stuff is hot.
Bartimaeus Trilogy. Kid magicians, political intrigue, loyal genie buddy. Had a meh comic book adaptation that was as mediocre as Artemis Fowl's. Better suited for a cartoon or full budget movie, IMO.
And motherfucking ARTEMIS FOWL. They've been hyping the movie for over 10 years at this point.

I really liked the first one but I absolutely hated the second one, it made little sense, was confusing, and I remember the ending being somewhat disappointing. At one point the name of the evil guy from the first book (Sanguine I think?) replaced the name of the new bad guy at which point even eleven years old me realized nobody had proofread that shit.

Surprisingly enough the show was actually decent. The problem was that it felt a little too "kiddy" and wasn't quite as mature as the books. My favorite part of it is how endearing Emily Rodda's reasons for making it an anime were.
"Rodda chose this option because she and her kids "love Japanese anime, and want any adaptation of Deltora to be cool""

Awww thats adorable. Deltora will always be super close to my heart because it was the first series i read on my own, then when i started getting into anime i started getting into it but i kinda fell off. I think it was the cgi and monster redesigns that killed it for me. Its a shame what they did to the Vraal
