In Anticipation of Sonyverse Venom, let's take a moment to remember what we appreciate about Venom in all his forms.

I never really felt like Venom was necessarily a bad guy, just an organism that got dealt a shit hand left and right. But this also plays into his character, each experience in the symbiote's life shaping it.

I always enjoyed how the reason Venom looks like a monstrous Spider-Man is because Spider-Man was Venom's favorite or first? host, and so he modeled himself after Spidey's suit.

He found purpose in Lethal Protector and salvation in Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3 #23.

Venom as a character is an amazing concept now more than ever because of the fact that the symbiote's personality is so individualized. When you look at Venom you see two individuals, the suit itself and the man wearing it. You get to see the events of the comic unfold through the eyes of an alien organism and a regular guy. This has been done before I'm sure but Venom's unique origin and legacy status put him a cut above something like an AI in an Iron Man suit.
