FF have been around for years as a famous Challengers-esque team of explorers, they have a public demonstration of their new experimental FTL vessel that'll allow them to travel from Earth to the moon in seconds, it goes awry and they gain powers and become famous as America's super-family.

Mutants have existed for thousands of years but since they're so rare, like 1 in 2 million births, nobody has conclusively connected the sporadic incidents as a phenomenon. Charles Xavier has dedicated his life to finding mutants and helping them at his school for decades, but it isn't until the Brotherhood of Mutants attacks the White House and announces mutant supremacy that Xavier forms the X-Men from his best students to fight the Brotherhood and help mutants who are now being hunted by the government.

i dont see X men, Deadpool and Fantastic 4 toys combined outselling anything else out there so I doubt there will eve be a deal like Sony and Spidey.

The X Men (and Deadpool by extension) at this point cant exist on the MCU, to comboluted. Only way i see it is other dimention, other world, multiverse. Rarely cross paths.
F4 if and only IF the play their cards right they could live in the MCU but only as side characters but not their own movie or tv series. sadly they are damaged goods.
They could definitely use the assets they have attached like Galactus, Dr Doom and the Skrulls. Other than that move along.

MCU could do a smart thing that Marvel Comics still has no brains to do and connect random "mutates" like Luke Cage or Spider-Man with radiation and the dormant mutant gene. Fox did it with Deadpool and Ajax already.

Introduce X-Men themselves as new characters like Ant-Man or the Guardians, but show that the concept behind their powers was there in the universe the whole time.

Honestly I can only see MCU making the FF out to be yet another Guardians of the Galaxy in hopes that lightning will strike twice.

They would be another dysfunctional family of misfits most likely in space having random wacky adventures with all the comedic aspects of gross out and looney tunes inspired aliens.

Would imagine seeing things like Impossible Man voiced by Weird Al Yankovik, bumbling moron Skrulls, Blastaar having an annoying pun filled convo with Torch, and people making fun of Terrax's name for 20 minutes.

Although Reed dealing with senile rambling Stan Lee Uatu would be fun.

With Sony, it's single characters appearing in each studio's movies on loan, and a general acceptance that it's the same setting, so they can refer to the same events (but that's not the same as a Sony movie featuring flashback footage from an earlier Marvel movie - they'd still need a separate agreement to do that).

Marvel did do that in the 90s; latent mutancy is expressly connected to acquired superpowers via the FF kids, which suggests that (since they're both explicitly x-gene mutants) any kids born to parents with superpowers (or at least those acquired from cosmic rays) would be mutants.

The problem with it is that it devalues "mutants" as a concept; they become commonplace instead of rare and you end up with Genosha being destroyed for a splash page. If they're really that common, there should be no reason to not know at least one, especially in the larger cities. Then the question becomes what's so special about them that the X-Men are even necessary (and why do people like Spider-Man need the X-Men to defend them?); it's one you can only answer by logically extending the race-war theories of characters like Magneto to cover the X-Men as well. In essence, the X-Men cease to be heroes and become at best accidental heroes to the majority, acting only in the interest of their own kind.

And then you have to House of M the bastards, like roaches.

Marvel did this in the 90's when all things mutant was huge.

Every other random accident superhero was labeled a latent mutant that had their X-gene activated by radiation etc. The few remaining non X-Men fans fucking hated this. They did not want Spider Man to be a mutant, or Captain America....etc.

MCU could definitely use a few more heroes that are actually superpowered and not some guy wearing a gadget suit.

Way too many nonpowered gadget people so far.
