I appreciate your straightforward answer, anon. Love go with you. Good fortune go with you.
>tfw you just go to look at the porn and it's artistically interesting so now you have to read the whole thing

Things'll pick up when the big beetle dude joins the party.
OK so having skim-read now (basically where the plot/exposition got confusing I sped up, and I concentrated much more on the pages where the art seemed striking than where it didn't) my 2c are:
>Insect-people not!Japan setting orientated around the not!Japanese waifu industry
>fairly delicate and layered in its handling of that, linking in dancers-musicians-prostitutes-mistresses-actors on a spectrum
>MCs motivations aren't of a modern sensibility and are somewhat ambiguous, I think even to herself
>Story-wise, I'm assuming this is going to be a yuri romance with possible spiritual elements
>there are scenes where it feels very Generic Anime TM and I'm not into it, but I think it also owes a debt to sort of catastrophic psychological manga (like, Kyoko Okazaki is here) and historical manga which is much more my jam and I'm really there for that
>appreciate that it's willing to go hard and be explicit; it doesn't come across as doing that pornographically but it doesn't care if it does go there
>there's a kind of fragmentary thing with lots of insets and cut-aways and I'm not sure that always works but where it does I really like it. The dance was weird because I appreciated the density and intricacy of movement being conveyed (and the sudden flashes of like: THIS IS GOD were v. good) but I didn't have an idea of the shape of the whole thing. It made me aware of how difficult it might be to easily show complex, sequential movement when you're not working from human forms - like, I don't have a good idea of the range of these mantises movement in the first place. When the comic starts it's a very slow scene where we intuit the MC is deliberately moving slowly and precisely but they're a dancer, and I don't know what the limits of them dancing looks like.
>some of the scenes seem like they were designed to look like anime stills and I can't help but feel I'd like the whole thing more if it was B&W
>dream sequences are great
Overall I am glad I was introduced to this

that's not how sex works

I went and had a look at some other art by the artist and they totally have some great colour pieces.I don't know what it is that puts me off the colour in the comic.

I don't know what means senpai.

It means the thread was on page 10 and i needed the shortest possible post before filling out the captcha so it doesn't immediately fall off

I love the art of this but I can't stand the fucking pace of this story. It was better when it was just furry porn without a story.

Yes, yes she does.

Don't lie to him, there's 0 actual nudity and sex in this. It's all shadows and discrete shots of colarbones, waists and ankles, at most.
>>93922103
I feel like we saw tits at one point but maybe I'm wrong.

WhiteMantis is a try-hard weeb with a serious guro/torture/rape fetish. Most characters are a front for 'Woe is me a delicate flower that is always abused and submissive' to try to gain sympathy? instead of trying to actually give any characters personalities that go beyond 1 dimensional tropes.
The art is pretty, but that's all it has going for it. The story is subpar anime-rip-off. She tries to claim being 'original' because the world only has bug people and no other animals (what do they eat?) but then go into insane detail to make it a historical piece. You just wanted an anime in feudal japan with bug people.
Also I really hate stories where the artist's fetish is so thinly veiled and keeps slipping into the story. Its like TwoKinds and transformation.
Also keep in mind she and her boyfriend spent like 4 years writing every meticulous detail of this story before they started drawing it.It's still just the most standard animu story ever.
>>93922853
If you meant for me to read that in her voice, mission accomplished.
>>93922853
I don't know the future details of the plot so I can't comment on that.
>>93922853
Know any good feudal japan anime by any chance?
>no bugfucking
dropped

I liked Samurai Champloo, I guess you could go with Samurai X/Rurouni Kenshin.
Er, I guess Princess Mononoke?
