Why did the battle droids get their voices made more comical? Their incompetency was just funny enough in episodes 1 and 2 without making them robot Minions, but now they're unbearable. the 2 kamino epiosde at the beginning were always planned but couldn't be done because they didnt have the tech for rain yet.

hostage crisis was such a good episode they decided to make a sequel and prequel to it

It's weird how they've disappeared from the face of the Earth in the favor of the Praetorians. Last time we've heard about them is how Luke will wipe them out and now even MSW insinuate that it might not be them accompanying Kylo to Ahch-To.

For all the hype build around them a year and a half ago, they did a fine job sweeping them under the carpet. Maybe they're trying to prevent another Phasma situation, if they planned for them to just job to Luke from the start.

My theory is that the duel they're rehearsing in the behind the scenes footage is of Kylo dueling the other Knights of Ren, not the Praetorians, and one of Snoke's trials for Kylo is for him to fight the other Knights to the death to prove his power and worthiness of being Snoke's apprentice

Anakin went to Yoda for counsel his situation because funnily enough, as we see in TCW, Yoda was just about the only Jedi to highlight and praise his "flaws" that other Jedi lacked. But given Anakin approached him on the subject of death, not even to mention that of his wife which takes things in a completely new direction, Yoda could only offer traditionalist experience on the matter which would have incidentally destroyed Anakin's value systems. Had Anakin been just a little less vague and more open regarding his relationship to Padme - impossible as that was - I'm sure Yoda would have been able to give him some better help.

It all just came down to the Jedi Code being too, too restricting of the spontaneity of human nature.

Rogue One also appealed much more to the hardcore fans, than it did the normie audience. You get an ensemble cast not dissimilar from stuff we have enjoyed in both the EU, and Canon. I strongly suspect it was Abrams who was pushing for them to be more Vader. Some of the earlier stuff with pipes coming out of the Killer's mouth are Vader esque but the later ones just before Adam was brought on are just "Vader with a bigger and or sillier helmet"
I think it was the casting of Adam and some cajoling from what was going to become the Story Group (I remain convinced the SG barely existed back when TFA was being concepted) that led down the Kylo Ren route
If nothing else, I can't see someone quite as fixated on the OT as Abrams deciding to go for the Revan look Kylo ended up with

The concept artists operate under direction, though. If someone tells them to keep drawing Not Vaders, they do it. If someone tells them to cut back on the Vader influence, they do it.

This. We've seen it in past Art of books where the artists tried something and Lucas clearly said "no, I don't like the direction of this one" and they stopped doing it and tried something else. Here they just kept on drawing Vaders.
