a stronger hulk that was fueled by sorrow than rage...
yeah that's dumb
they also already had a KLUH
he was great, he was a hulk created by Xenmu or whatever that big white furry guy's called.
>>
>>93907593
I continue to be unimpressed by Matt Fraction. Kluh will never stop being a shit idea. Especially when compared to the Grey Hulk.
>>
Still prefer Remender over Waid.
>>
>>93908058

Kluh was from Remender's AXIS event.

you're thinking of that weird Fear Itself Hulk that Fraction had in his Defenders run.
>>
>>93907593
Wouldn't the inverted Hulk just be the devil hulk?
>>
>>93907593
>Hulk gets hit with a magic backwards spell and turns into Kluh
>Punisher is killed and gets brought back as a Frankenstein
>Army guy who likes Spider-Man gets his legs blown off, but then the Government gives him Venom to grow him new legs and also it grows him guns
>Apocalypse can travel in time, so he goes back in time and makes four Horsemans of Death because Death is the coolest one

If you told me that every Rick Remender plot was written by the kid that did Axe Cop, I would not have any trouble believing it.
>>
>>93908110
Your right. It's getting harder to keep track of all the worthless crap that's been happening to the hulk.

Thank's for the correction.

I did like the part with Loki, though.
>>
>>93908271
>>Army guy who likes Spider-Man gets his legs blown off, but then the Government gives him Venom to grow him new legs and also it grows him guns

to be fair most of that was not Remender's doing.

Marc Guggenheim wrote the story where Flash was crippled, and Slott created Agent Venom, Remender just wrote the ongoing (aka it probably would've happened with or without Remender, just not to the same quality level)

How many hulks have spawned from Banner anyway?

Gotta be more than 10 at this point.
>>
>>93908452

true, but they also probably won't acknowledge most of it for a while either.

outside of Planet/World War Hulk and Skaar's existence, how much of the last decade's worth of Hulk stories have really stuck with Hulk?

Kluh, the Fear Itself thing, Jason Aaron's Banner is the real monster, Doc Green? all quickly forgotten.
>>
>>93907593
AXIS was stupid... could be good as an story arc, but as event? no, thanks!
>>
>>93908598
is.. is this from a gay comic porno?
>>
>>93908598
Was that issue like a weird joke? Like was the artist instructed to make it as gay looking as possible?
>>
>>93908743
Exactly what I was thinking
Either that or banner has not only a rage and sorrow hulk but also a rape hulk.
>>
>>93908656

thats been true for most of Marvel's events for the past...8 years?
House of M, the first Civil War, Secret Invasion (maybe?), AvX, and Secret Wars are the only ones that seem monumental enough to warrant being real events.

Fear Itself should've stayed the originally planned Thor/Cap crossover that it was. AXIS should've just been a Uncanny Avengers arc. Siege should've just been a Bendis Avengers/Thor crossover.
>>

I'll take AXIS' fun stupid over most of the other modern event's boring stupid any day.

It was Ultimates 3
Same run with the gay blood sucking.
I'm not sure what was up with this run but it was suuuuuuper gay.

>>

"admit" it? How could anyone possibly argue otherwise???
>>
>>93908743

Ultimates. This is a clone with an engineered brain.

Never explained why he's green instead of gray.

>>93908747

Very probably. No, actually the previously timid Nerd Hulk was already under the influence of a vampire (don't ask, please God) and was deliberately provoking Cap.

>>93911778

I'd say that was Green Scar / Worldbreaker, since the Hulk is a creature of rage.
>>

>I'd say that was Green Scar / Worldbreaker, since the Hulk is a creature of rage.
This.
The Professor was just Banner with Hulk's body, and even then it had that huge drawback that if he got too angry he'd revert to Banner's body.
Green Scar was his optimal form. Intelligent, angry, powerful and above all, it was still Hulk, not Banner, who was in charge.
I'd dare say Green Scar is the closest to El Maestro in terms of power.
>>
>>93912969
I wouldn't mind seeing an arc with the Maestro taking over the scorched Earth after the apocalypse. You could even have him fight another massively powerful hero or villain who survived the blast and wants to take over themselves.

Also: Remender did the best X-Team run in the last 15 years.
>>
>>93913863
It's good. It's a shame though that PAD's written three different endings to the Hulk and they're all depressing as fuck.
>>
>>93908598
Savage Hulk
Gray Hulk
Kluh
Gravage Hulk
The Merged Hulk
The Green Scar
Mindless Hulk
Doc Green
Dark Hulk
Hulk Squared
Compound Hulk

>>
>>93907593
you clearly haven't read enough Hulk comics if you think this is stupid

this is a bastion of sanity compared to World War Hulks not that WWHs was bad, it even follows the internal logic of how Hulk works and the established fact of Hulks being sub-personalities or facets of an individual

which of course draws on the werewolf concept that the original 6-issue Lee/Kirby mini pushed so hard, minus the moon being the cause of his changes - it stands to reason that when the shock of a hidden self has worn off you'd introduce another

Yeah, it's like nobody who writes Hulk has ever read somebody else's run. Devil Hulk, or nightmare Hulk, or whatever you want to call a hulk driven by the darker, more depraved side of Banner (instead of the righteous fury of normal Hulk) is an idea that's been around and hinted at forever but nobody ever pulls the trigger on.
Then we get Kluh. Weaaaaaaaaak.

I'm still surprised that the distaste for Frankencastle seems to have more longevity than the fact he was murdered and dismembered by Wolverine's biracial bisexual rapist son.

>UH UH WELL MARVEL MAKES BETTER MOVIES THAN DC

really makes me think
>>
>>93916579
If all that's available is stupid (and that's pretty much the case with cape comics in this decade) then fun stupid is at least fun, while boring stupid can't entertain on any level at all.
>>
>>93919216
Or you could read something that's GOOD and fun, like AXIS Hobgoblin or AXIS Carnage. You have shit taste and low standards.
>>
>>93919207
I'm pretty sure thinking is a totally foreign concept to you.
>>
>>93914936
>Yeah, it's like nobody who writes Hulk has ever read somebody else's run.

PAD was a salty bitch when he returned to the Hulk and tried to retcon nearly everything that occurred in his absence (including the Devil Hulk) into nothing but bad dreams caused by Nightmare..

Probably because all of it was retarded.

Also Devil Hulk. I think Paul Jenkins' run was the one who had all the different Hulks shown. I remember Devil Hulk because he was supposedly the worst out of all the different Hulks. He's some big yellow lizardy looking fuck. I think the last time he was shown was in David's Abomination mini series.
>>
>>93914936

Ultimate Hulk kiiiinda edged closer to that idea, but I don't think anyone will ever take it to it's logical conclusion because that would basically be an issue of Crossed x 10000

AXIS wasn't supposed to be a crossover event.

Ah man that was a good comic. Ty for storytiming both of those comics. Wish Hulk actually still had a comic. The new Shulk and amadeus cho are no where near this level of storytelling.

It's a "The End" comic, shows the end of a particular super hero. In this case, Bruce Banner.

And Hulk will just go on living forever. So long as he has the will to live. And as we saw on an earlier page, he thinks of his own lifespan as revenge on everyone who's ever wronged him, everyone he hates. If he were to die, these people who have long since stop existing would "win" and Hulk can't lose. He will never let himself lose. He's trapped by his own hubris.
>>

Hulk got raped. Repeatedly, this would suggest. I know some people will get turned off from it but I love Peter David's urge to push the boundaries. Sometimes he hits, sometimes he misses but I love that he always was willing to take a chance.

It's not suggesting.
It's pretty much stating.

And we both know it could never happen today.
And that makes me angry.
>>
>>93928511

Comics weren't mainstream then, but they were literature. No one cared what happened in the book, because it's a fucking book, crazy shit has been happening in books since the dawn of time. The people reading them just wanted some cool stories.
>>
>>93928622
I'd make the argument comics arn't mainstream now. Whatever you want to call the MCU/nerd culture stuff the actual people who read comicbooks are still a real niche subculture.
>>
>>93925526
K I N O
>>
>>93928728

Comics are incredibly mainstream. Nerd culture is incredibly mainstream. Everything Marvel produces is extremely safe and sterile. It is not a medium where people are going to tell interesting stories anymore, comics have moved further and further away from being books and are now produced in the way a children's cartoon or young adult television series would be.
>>
>>93929055
>>
>>93929664
>Comics are incredibly mainstream.
They definitely aren't. Any look at sales can tell you this
>>
>>93929754

Look at sales of superhero merch. Super hero movies have been the biggest box office draw for about a decade now. Back in the early nineties we had one big comic con each year. Now there are comic cons the size of the old SDCC literally every week around the country. Even if the book themselves aren't selling comic book "culture" is incredibly mainstream. And the only purpose of the books themselves is to maintain that culture.
>>
>>93929857
Superheroes might be popular, but comicbooks themselves aren't at all. Movies aren't comic books, and there's no "comic book culture" when no one reads them in the first place

Or maybe the one from Battleworld and Contest of Champions escaped from the Collector.

Agreed. I don't want all of my entertainment or all of my comics to be this way, but once in a while, something balls-to-the-wall kooky and madcap and fun like this is a welcome breather. Remender had done plenty of super-serious work for Marvel like Uncanny X-Force which was great for what it was, and in fact one of the best X-Men storylines of all time, but it was neat seeing him just being like "Okay, now let's have a fucking giggle," and gave us shit like Carnage's rhinestone-studded dying wish.

Superhero comics can be a lot of things. I don't resent it in the slightest when a given writer tries more than one of those things over the course of successive stories.
>>
>>93913978
Do alternate timelines count? Because then you get the Earth X old Hulk/blind Banner dealie, too.
>>
>>93933809
Maybe they are just replicas. They are cosmic artifacts originally not from earth. Maybe some aliens chose to pick up after nuclear war had settled
>>
>>93930030

Yes, no one is reading them, again, that's not the point here. I guarantee if you had a comic today where Hulk is repeatedly raped off panel it would cause a shit storm, reagardless if anyone actually bought the comic or not. More likely, it would never see the light of day in the first place as the editors are focused on keeping the comics as safe and non-offensive as possible. The whole point of the Marvel comic books right now is to not rock the boat in any way that would turn people off from the movies, Netflix series or buying merch. I expect that eventually Disney will decide the actual comics aren't needed at all.
