I've gotten used to Tennant as Scrooge already after this.
>>
>Scrooge being a carefree uncle

I don't know what the fuck this I just watched, but I really liked it.
>>
Beakley's still cute.
>>
>>93898000
Scrooge's reaction at the end can be summed up with this quote;

"Your happiness ends at my convenience"- Early Cuyler
>>
Meh
>>
>>93898000
Beakly was alright but i preferred if she was a mute.
>>
>>93898000
>Tell that to my men you captured in Peking!
>Peking duck

Were her men eaten?
>>
>>93898062
I agree, I really like how he inspected the dart gun.
Not only that he did, but how he brought the sights up to look down them.

We've known she has a VA since long before we knew what she looked like.

we know for sure that Gladstone is going to appear, as for Fethry, I have no idea

why is donald the only duck that talks like his mouth is full of grapes

The boys sound way to gold. Even Webby sounds way to old. Scrooges voice is just kinda wonky, and it's lost it's charm.

I hate the animation style as well.

Only one that sounded good was Donald.
>>
I already hate the girl.
>>
>>93899881

Bitch, even TTG kept the original voice actors.
>>

>>
New Webby is awesome, and I love Ms.Beakly's new accent..
>>
can't wait for the reboot.
>>
>Panda as Louie
I kinda like it
>>
>>93898919
He's always angry. There's a mickey short where they take away all his anger and he sounds different.
>>
>>93898919
Maybe a Navy wound that messed up his throat.
>>
>>93899941
Are you kidding me? She's perfect, I hate the three kid ducks though, they seem like little sissies now.
>>
I dont like it. Scrooge would have at least asked the kids to fight outside. He;s too carefree. he needs more of a gruff edge to him.
>>
>>93899941
I'm fine with it but she's going to be the new scrappy at this point when the boys are fucking pansies
>>
I kinda like Scrooge's voice. The kids do sound old though.
>>
The kids sound too fucking old and act like fucking pussies

I love Webby though, she gives off a lolidom vibe
>>
>>93901557
I'm pretty sure at the point this short takes place Scooge has just become complacent and needs to get back into the swing of adventuring to be himself
>>
>>93901819
Too bad there will be no art.
>>
>>93901819

Why does everyone always say this for cartoons? Like its surprising
>>

>>
>>93902113
Birds are notoriously unpopular even among the furry/scalie communities.

She's the annoying tomboy who's better at everything but also is just so quirky. This is the most annoying cliche and I'm sick of it.
>>

I need to hear this.
>>
>>93901341
Which one?
>>
Ms. Beakley best new waifu no furfag
>>
>>93902163
Should have had red bird successfully shoot her after she shot the other two birds. Would have been more balanced and shown that she's like one of the boys. Having her easily take down all of them reeks of girl-power try-hard mode.

>>93902247
Possibility: The boys haven't accompanied Scrooge on any adventures yet, and while Webby hasn't either, she's prepared herself for the eventuality. They'll be more evenly matched once the boys started getting into the adventurer's lifestyle.
>>
>>93900195

difference between teen titans and duck tales
is that when titans ended went to ttg it was about a 5 year difference

duck tales old to new is almost 30 years and some of the VAs have passed away since then

>>
>>93898827
Considering how much this is pulling from the comics, I wouldn't be surprised.

Personally, I'm curious if they're going to use any of the negative parts of Scrooge's backstory. Like all the horrible things he did to get rich.
>>
>>93902313
No way they'll skip her. Her entire motivation is getting Scrooge's lucky first dime. It's one of the most powerful magic items in the world.
>>
When I was a kid, I never understood why Magica wanted the Number One Dime. It took me a while to figure out that the dime only has any value as a magical ingredient because it was the first coin owned by the richest individual on earth. So if say Glomgold became richer than Scrooge or if Scrooge lost his money, the dime would become worthless in magic spells. It's like old ingredients for witches' spells like "a virgin's first blood" or crap where the ingredient is situational and only context makes it work as a magic ingredient.

It makes sense if she is a big reveal for an arc, so kind of a "secret" right now.
>>
>>93902247
>Having her easily take down all of them reeks of girl-power try-hard mode.
I disagree. The boys were just having fun running around shooting foam darts at each other, while Webby was taking the game much more seriously by using heat vision goggles and ambushing them from above. It was a good way to establish how their mentalities differ.
>>
>>93903079
I suppose the real test will be Donald. She idolizes Donald and views him as a superhero. If she ends up saving the day more than Donald, I'm calling bullshit and you better not defend it.
>>
>>93903209
Pretty sure her character arc will be her learning you can't do everything by yourself.

It's played up for comedy. It's basic escalation of a situation. The boys are playing nerf, and Wendy takes it to another level. I'd normally agree with you on the "girl is better than everyone" trope, but there are two key differences here.

1. Wendy's also shown to be a intense, over-imaginative nerd. If she had Lisa Simpson's personality, she'd cross her arms and roll her eyes at the immaturity of the boys. Going a few more specific steps with Wendy side-steps the trope because it quickly shows why she's better than them at the game (she takes it more "seriously").

2. It's quickly shown that Scrooge could take all of them down pretty easily due to his experience, which matters the most.

Plus, they've shown in clips that Huey caught a bigfoot through traps, so it's not like they themselves are cowardly or dumb.
>>

well there's only two major incidents of that sort, at least in the Rosa timeline; Scrooge driving a tribe off their land, and him causing his family to abandon them, and I have doubts either incident will appear in this universe, especially as the former is a touch to un-PC to use in a children's cartoon

I have that issue! It is really good and fun, at the end Scrooge is telling the tale of the coin to his nephews and ends with "I really wish I could say thanks to the person that give me this coin" followed by Magicia that is watching through her crystal ball after the time travel shenanigan replying a very upset "you are welcome"

Missing the "duck voices" on the nephews is excusable - they ditched that back with Quack Pack, and I really didn't miss it. Leaving it on Donald seems obligatory, and it's suiting; changing the voice of a character like that would result in a massive shitstorm.

That said, they could have gone more for making them sound like kids, but anymore it seems like that shit just gets thrown out the window. It IS hard to find competent young VAs, then dealing with voice changes depending on their age. Otherwise, you could just follow standard procedure and hire women to voice young male characters. No idea why they didn't do that.

Webby is grating at best. Making her 10x better than the boys is a trope I would love to see fade away. Okay, you want the girls to be more involved, and that's fine - not having useless characters is a plus. Now, though, you're taking it in the complete opposite direction where everyone seems useless in comparison. Why not do something like pick one of the boys and put them on par with eachother? Let them have back-and-forths and harass the other two boys for not keeping up? Give the other boys their own skills, then have Webby + whoever be nuisances that interrupt them with their over-zealousness? Have some fucking balance. Jesus, is it that hard? It's like nobody knows what to do with female characters, so they just overcompensate and hope they're safe from backlash. At least Mrs. Beakley came out well.

Overall, it has a lot of changes, but seems pretty solid. I'd really love to see some improvements character-wise, since I highly doubt voices are gonna change at this point, but other than that, I'd watch it.
>>
>>93923861

Those guns cannot possibly hold that many darts of that size.

Night vision goggles are green not red.

Scrooge has no issues with the kids playing in his mansion, then hypocritically gets angry when Donald's simply taking a fucking bath.

I can tell Donald is gonna be treated like shit all through the series.

It needs to be Scrooge's dime, the first coin owned the world's richest man. She wants it to create an amulet that will give her the Midas touch.
>>
>>93923894
South Park is one of those things that is an odd case - super low budget, so their casting was limited. Shit, they only had one female VA voicing nearly every female character - actually, it may even have been all of them. The boys themselves were just Trey and Matt with pitch-shifts, but there was at least an effort made to make them sound younger instead of just saying "fuck it" and going with their natural voices.

With Bart, I'm not sure what your argument is. He has a younger sounding voice, which is due to his VA. You really think that he sounds out of his age range in terms of pitch? Speech, I'd agree with you, but pitch? I never thought he sounded that off.

Opinions are opinions, though. I'm just saying what my reaction to the short is.

Have you ever heard a kid that sounded like Bart? I haven't.

Also--Dexter from Dexter's Lab, Timmy Turner from Fairly Oddparents, Dib from Invader zim, Tommy from Rugrats, the Eds from Ed, Edd and Eddy. I'd say a cartoon kid that sounds like a real kid is the exception, if anything. Finn from Adventure Time sounds like a real kid, and he stands out as fairly unique in that respect, to me anyway.

>there was at least an effort made to make them sound younger instead of just saying "fuck it" and going with their natural voices.

The boy in Ducktales do the same thing, none of them sound quite like the actors' natural voices.
>>
>>93924216
he smells like gold

>>93924217
Should be argued that all those cases, even if not sounding perfectly like kids, sound more like kids like these voices in the show, that make the nephews sound at most 12 or 13.

I hate her because it feels like they're trying too hard to be like Mabel, whether that's Disney's or the Writers fault is up for debate.

Rosa discussed the idea that the coin provides Scrooge mental comfort rather than luck, but that concept didn't originate from him.
>>
>>93915137

Tennant didn't sound much like the original Scrooge. Yes I know Alan Young is dead. But Im sure a voice actor exists that can approximate Young's voice.

Daved Tennant is a has-been who ceased being in any way relevant when he left Doctor Who

>>93917407

No, I figure the guy who paid Scrooge simply used another dime.
>>
>>93917653

... And? Your point?
>>
>>93924217
Again, it sounds like it's just coming down to opinions. Some of them I will agree with, since I think the point was to make them sound comical/different than the other characters (for the Eds, Double D at least sounded normal to me). Saying Dexter didn't sound natural... you may want start with addressing the fact that he was the only person in his family with a German accent.

Fin sounded like a real kid because he was a real kid, as is/was Gumball's VA. Both of them had issues with voice changes, though, and had to deal with that in the series.

>>93924257
Then I'll admit an effort WAS made, but that I'm a nit-picky shit that just doesn't think it was done well enough.
>>
>>93924316
Sure, but generally you see Rosafags being the ones pushing that angle the most, even when there's plenty of other stories that use the magic angle, including by Barks. I too prefer the "the dime is just symbolic" angle (even if it also doesn't fit Barks- the story where the dime debuts, Scrooge is like "oh what's this coin? oh it's the first one I had! how nice!", indicating it's not so important he constantly paid attention to it and he eventually forgot he had it, something that makes no sense for Rosa's stories), but I hate the attitude you find online of "these stories or concepts are WRONG" regarding Disney Comics. This shit's been here for nearly a hundred years by this point- IIRC, it'll be 90 years in December of 2019 since the first Mickey Mouse comic strips, so there's been so many contradictory ideas and canons that going "this is wrong" just disgusts me. (especially since poor Rosa never wanted that, his canon is personal and wasn't meant to be imposed to others)
>>
>>93919532

Would have been funny if she had a German accent and later was revealed to be on the East German swim team in the 1976 Montreal Games.
>>
>>93903526
>is being played by Paul F. Thompkins
As if I needed even more reasons to hate Gladstone. That is a god tier casting. Thompkins does great punchable characters.
>>
>>93924519
I can understand that. Duck comics are pretty flexible and their characters have been known to morph from story to story (Donald sometimes has temporary addictions or weird phases, he keeps switching jobs, and so on). I loved Rosa's works, but I'm not too into it when people take these comics super seriously and make it seem like only one specific interpretation of the characters is correct.
>>
>>93924519
>that use the magic angle

I thought the dime itself wasn't magic but the fact that it is "the first coin the richest person made" means it would work as a magic ingrediant for Magica's spells so it's not that the dime is special but Scrooge having earned it makes it special in some situations like that one.

I want to say Magica abandoned plans like stealing the dime with the Beagle Boys along with Scrooge's other money because she realized if they took Scrooge's money he wouldn't be the richest person and the dime wouldn't work...

Which makes an easy out because if Magica ever took the dime and then hadn't used it in her spell yet they could stop her if Scrooge just temporarily gave away enough of his money that he wasn't the richest duck anymore (presumably after she puts it in her amulet or whatever it doesn't need to keep having that status) although not sure if Scrooge would agree to do that).

Of course I can't even remember if a Barks story ever confirmed Magica's spell or amulet recipe would even work. I think there was a flash forward dystopic future in Ducktales where Magica takes over the world where it worked but I think that was a show only story.
>>
>>93924508

I just don't see how you can be nitpicky about this, but not Bart Simpson, Timmy Turner, Tommy Pickles, Cow and Chicken, the Wakko and Yakko from Animaniacs, Bobby Hill, probably more I can't even think of
>>
>>93924684
Exactly. I respect Rosa's autism with these comics, especially since he had the skill to pull it off and made genuinely great stories. I even like it on kind of a housekeeping sense- for an example, the modern Italian stories focusing on Lord Quackett, the gentleman thief after whom Donald patterned the Duck Avenger persona, use Life & Times as a guideline on how to establish 1920s Duckburg, with characters like Donald's parents making cameos. An organised reference book to go to can help be the springboard to imagine more stories, and that's great. When instead of "based on Rosa" it goes into "slavishly obeying Rosa" it starts annoying me.

>>93924691
The angle on the dime, on Magica's Barks stories, is that it's not inherently magical or lucky, but it's got a lot of financial power, somehow, due to having been handled by Scrooge most of his life. With his coin and the first coin of other millionaires, Magica can then make her amulet which will give her Midas' touch.

After this though, there's a ton of interpretations. There's stories where the dime is depicted as genuinely having powers, and if Scrooge loses it, he starts losing all his fortune. There's stories where Magica stops caring as much for it and instead lives with Mad Madam Mim and the focus is about them having witch adventures. Etc.

My point regarding the magic angle was more that a common complaint about the idea of "dime is magic" is that Barks intended for Scrooge's fortune to be made through hard work. It's how Rosa writes the character, and it's how many hardline fans see the character, refusing anything else. IMO it's the most appealing version.

But even Barks himself also made a story where Scrooge's fortune is because he has a Magic Hourglass, and the minute he gives it away to his nephews, he starts losing a billion dollars a minute! So clearly it was never this monolithical immutable property that "Scrooge McDuck got rich via hard work only" that no-one can contradict.

They won't do it, but using the extended witch cast whenever they get to Magica would be pretty cool. Could be reimagined as a coven or something. Disney would never let them use Mad Madam Mim, but there's a good few other characters they could use.

So what's the deal with Duckworth supposedly showing up in the intro? Any pics?
>>
>>93926296
Quoting a post in another thread

>They say he's already been shown up but no-one's noticed.

>I scrubbed the footage shown and images to try and find him, but nothing, don't think. So here's what I'm thinking:

>He's in the intro in one of the shots showing various scenes in various panels, in which case we won't be able to see him until broadcast since youtube's bitrate kills detail in those shots

>Or

>He's not introduced as Duckworth the butler, but instead as something else and then later gets hired to be a butler

>Under the assumption of the latter, there's a dognose in the office with Donald with the other dognose who looks like Roxanne, and there's one in a bus where Webby's walking about. Neither of these are in the opening though.

>If we assume he IS in the opening, I only see one solution- he's a Beagle Boy. There's a particular Beagle who only appears in one shot, not in any others. Maybe he later reforms and joins Scrooge, or something.

I wondering if this Moai statue is supposed to be him. It has a snooty demeanor and they obviously dont have a problem with redesigning characters like Gyro and Fenton. Could see that as an answer to the question everyone asks of "Why is his name Duckworth when he's a dog"
