worst spiderman writer of all time. Fanfiction level.
>>
He's leaving after issue 800.
>>
>>93888342
How many more years until issue 1000? I feel like if he doesn't leave at 800, that'll be his milestone he'll try and hit.
>>
lol his book is still better than Zdarsky's, RYV or any other Spider-series out right now
>>
>>93888401
No, he's definitely leaving after 800. Spencer's run starts at 801.
>>
>>93888484
>Spencer's run
Sauce
>>
>>93888445
Shut up Slott. ASM is trash right now and RYV is one of the few good Marvel books.
>>
>>93888484
That's just a rumor as of now. There's been no confirmation.
>>
>>93888528
RYV is boring as fuck

Slott is probably the best writer Marvel has
>>
>>93888519
>https://www.bleedingcool.com/2017/07/06/latest-marvel-legacy-rumour-begin-reveal-shape-marvel-2018/
>>
>>93888579
How the fuck is it boring? The shit with Normie was top tier. Venom arc is pretty badass. X-Men story was awesome too. Slott's run is an all time low for the character, who's being regressed more into a man child every time he's written and complaining about punching Asians in Japan. Then again, with your shit taste I can see why you like it.
>>
>>93888663
So is RYVs worth reading, then? It's a "what if" continuity, I assume?
>>
>>93888663
RKV is a shitty version of ASG(Mayday/MC2)
>wahhhh Peter is growing
fags like you is the reason he's going back to the Bugle
>>
>>93888728
Yes, especially if you liked the Peter/MJ marriage. It's basically a reality where Civil War never happened and thus OMD never took place.
>>
>>93888765
>Growing
NIGGER, he's been doing the opposite. He's more immature and irresponsible than ever. Also
>Getting rich = Growing

Just read Iron Man. RYV is nothing like MC2. For starters Peter is still around as Spider-Man.
>>
>>93888777
Oh hell yeah, sounds skookum.
>>
Real Spidey fans love Slott.
>>
>>93888219
He at least gave us Spider-Oct.

RYV is a mediocre book by a dinosaur.
>>

How. I explained myself, how is it mediocre?
>>
>>93889213
it's boring
objectively ASM is more exciting right now
>>
>>93889213
Its just Annie being "cute", Peter being bitchmade and MJ super mom. Its not bad, but it reads like a book for very young children.
>>
>>93889042
>People non-stop praising Spencer when Superior Foes and Ant-Man were still around
>Now he's bad because he wrote a shitty event like literally 90% of good writers that wrote events
I want Nu-/co/ to fuck off.
>>
>>93889311
Not an argument. But if you think Slott recycling the same plots over and over again is exciting then you must have a mental disability.

>>93889363
This seems like an actual grievance someone might have.
>>
>>93888663
You're just parroting things you've read here about Slott's run. That or you're really fucking stupid and think Shanghai is in Japan.

Slott can be a decent writer (see Avengers Initiative), but his bad habits (heavy leaning on pop culture, complete and total inability to tell a satisfying conclusion) have really only gotten worse as time goes on as Marvel editorial has clearly taken a step back the whole company over.

He'll throw a shit-fit on Twitter pretty often too and has harassed journalists previously.

I'm ready for someone new to take over, but I honestly have no idea who in Marvel's stable could do the character justice. Slott has had his hand in, what, a third of all the Amazing Spider-Man comics published? His legacy on the character is massive and yet, bland at the same time. The super-scientist route he's been taking the character since ~2010 is so boring and better served by characters like Iron Man or Pym or Mr Fantastic.

What I'm saying is, I do not know how a new writer would handle the massive amount of baggage that will come with following up Slott's ass-massive run on the character.
>>
>>93889413
I didn't write Sec Emp but I gotta say he's one of Marvel's better writers. Superior Foes and Ant-Man were great. I'd love to see him pick up Ant-Man for the new movie's synergy.

the only person who could take over Slott is Hastings
>>
>>93889467
Oh I've been reading his run and it's garbage. All the stories end terribly with Peter realizing he always had the answer to solve the problem with him and the rest sort of fizzling out. Not to mention, they're all the same damn plot. Taking Spider-Man out of New York was a mistake too since his powers revolve around the city. Him going on to be a massive CEO isn't moving his character forward, it's doing the opposite. He's an irresponsible brat now. You make a character grow by giving him new life experiences like him taking his marriage to the next level, or him moving on from a highschool teacher to a college professor. /Those/ are natural character progressions
>>
>People unironically defending Slott.

I want nu/co/ to die.
>>
>>93889645
a teacher is lame, CEO is awesome
married is boring, fucking all these supersluts is badass
>>

>Is now making consistently shit work.

>>
>>93888975
no they really do not
>>
>>93889756
>Is now making consistently shit work.
Now as in a year. Which means he was good for 4/5 of his career. Now fuck off.
>>
>>93889756
The only reason is because he was writing Captain America who is ingrained in politics.
>>
>>93889682
are you 13?
>>
>>93889413
Ant-Man is mediocre, his Cap runs are shit despite the /co/ dicksucking over HydraCap, and Secret Empire is just the shit bow on the shit present.
>>
>>93889413
he's written a grand total of two good works and they're both the ones with Steve Lieber

coincidence? no
>>
>>93889864
>Ant-Man is mediocre
Wrong
>Cap runs are shit
Pre-ANAD Sam Wilson was decent
>>
>>93889795
This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
We should pretend he's still good and eat up what he shits out because he used to be good?
>>
>>93888219
Ugh. I hate the thought of this retard making Spider-Man suck forever.

I'm sick of his fanfiction being printed.
>>
>>93889894
No you're calling him bad despite guy putting out great work for most of his career. Just because he currently has a bad run doesn't mean he is now suddenly a bad writer. Then that would make most guys working and worked at comics bad.

For example Bendis is a bad writer because he has put out shit comics more than good comics. Not because he now writes bad comics.
>>
>>93889996
that's the thing, he hasn't put out great work for most of his career. The subset of /co/ that hasn't turned against him for his Caps/Secret Empire vastly overrates him because of Superior Foes.
>most guys working and worked at comics bad.
this is not an untrue statement
>>
>>93888484
>Spencer taking over ASM
Man I I hope that's true, his superior foes, ant man and even Avengers Standoff were all great.
>>
>>93890060
>that's the thing, he hasn't put out great work for most of his career.
Your opinion buddy.

>most guys working and worked at comics which are considered good writers are bad.*
fix'd
>>
>>93889996
Not even me but the post you originaly replied to was

>>Dump Slott
>>Get Spencer
>People keep falling upward at Marvel

This doesn't imply that Spencer was always bad at all. If anything it implies the oppposite, because he is 'failing upwards' (as he gets shittier, he manages to score a high-profile comic like Spider-Man). Does that clear it up you stupid fucking illiterate pretentious faggot?
>>
>>93889213
It's a completely bland and safe capeshit comic. Only because it isn't written by Slott but by another mediocre writer doesn't make it good.
>>
>>93890155
>Conway
>mediocre
I get that you and the other anon are just trying to trigger one another but fuck man, think before you speak. Might as well say Kelly is a mediocre writer while you're at it. You putz
.
>>
He is on record as stating the only thing that would make him leave is being fired.
>>
I think people's hate of Slott is greater than their love of Spider-Man. These Secret Empire tie-ins and even Civil War 2 ones have been really good. I don't read ASM regularly but every issue I randomly check out is more impressive than most of marvel's output
>>
>>93890309
Yeah. Marvel said they were going to fire a bunch of people.
>>
>>93890297
Conway is a great example of a journeyman writer, and he's a hundred years old now.
>>
>>93889413
Spencer is good when he's writing comedic books. He should not be in charge of a big event.
>>
>>93890391

>fire the writer of one of their highest selling books

Not even Marvel is that dumb.
>>
>>93890474
Honestly, the writer for books like ASM and Batman doesn't matter, they are going to sell big regardless, Snyder wasn't the reason why Batman is the top selling DC book and neither is King, and Slott certainly isn't the reason why ASM sells.
>>
>>93890078
No, the hot new meme is to hate him because he said something that offended me on Twitter.
>>
>>93890632
and because Secret Empire is a garbage fire
>>
>>93890632
I'm trying to start a meme where everyone stops parroting memes. I don't think it's going to catch on.
>>93890662
It is, but it hasn't really infected any of the books I'm pulling so it hasn't bothered me, as far as I'm concerned Spencer still has more good titles he's written opposed to bad ones like Bendis and Slott.
>>
>>93889566
Oh, it's one of those mystical "Disney-owned properties only" comic shops!
And Gwen thinks that is the 'real world', how quaint.
>>
>>93888583
>bleedingcool
He said sauce, not speculation.
>>
>>93889467

as someone who isnt a Spiderman fan but still reads him, this is my problem
"total inability to tell a satisfying conclusion"

slott stories have very anticlimactic ending
>>
>>93890720
There's predominately Fantastic Four images in that shop. Why are you such a whiny bitch, anon?
>>
>>93888219
Only when Spider-Man is beaten, broken and has lost everything that he's ever cared about and Doc Ock stands triumphant over him with no chance of a comeback will Slott give the audience permission for him to leave
>>
>>93890620
>Honestly, the writer for books like ASM and Batman doesn't matter, they are going to sell big regardless,

You have no fucking knowledge of anything before the 2010s if you really think that
>>
>>93891663
But we're not talking about pre 2010, we're talking about today. And today, Spider-Man and Batman sell no matter what, if not then Slott and Snyder would have completely crashed both comic franchises and they wouldn't have been and still still be top sellers.
>>
>>93891799

Spider-man has been selling consistently worse post-2010. ASM should not be a top 20 book, it should be top 10/5 every month like Batman is.
>>
>>93890078
The question is would we get the fun Spencer if Superior Foes to Ant-Man or the political saopbox Spencer of now?
>>
>>93892017
I'm guessing we'd get the fun Spencer, there is a lot more fun stuff he could do with Peter and his cast of characters
>>93892004
I think it's just the fan base finally getting tired of the same writer, I know that I don't buy any issue of ASM with Slott's name on it. I guess in this case it does matter what writer you have on the title, it'll be interesting to see the numbers a few months after Spencer takes over, assuming that he does.
>>
>>93888484
That's just a rumor.

Slott said on twitter he plans on staying on Spider-Man past legacy.
>>
>>93889467
The answer is PAD
>>
>>93889996
If an apple was once ripe and it turned rotten, we can't call it ripe
>>
>>93889042
oh fuck, firstly Bleeding Cool is terrible and hard to take as a justifiable source, secondly Spencer instead of Slott. Fucking great now I'll have an entirely new level of shit to hate if this is true.
>>
>>93893271
I wonder if they will do stupid shit like rename it to Spectacular Spider-Man or Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man so Slott can still write him and someone else will get Amazing.

Even if Spidey is shit right now and there isn't a reason to support the comic until someone good comes along

I had the same problem with Snyder on Batman; but Bats and Spiders seem to sell regardless.
>>
>>93896365
They don't read comics. Hence why I said they wouldn't lose sales. Every time I've talked to someone who likes Miles or thinks Miles should replace Peter it always boils down to how they've never read the book, but like the progressiveness of it.
>>
>>93889467
Robbie Thompson is being groomed to take over
>>
>>93897364
Ever ask them why they think they should have opinions on things they don't follow?
>>
>>93888219
I fucking hate Slott. I will never buy Spidy as long as he is the writer. One of these days he's going to get punched in the mouth at comic con
>>
Didn't some "Marvel insider" a week or so ago claim Slott it off the main Spidey book at 800 but is getting another that was pitched to him as "just as important"?

All becasue Marvel knows that if he's kicked off Spider-Man he'll go to DC which they don't want.
>>
>>93888219
Isn't Bendis next in line to write Spider-man once Slott leaves?
>>
>>93899038

I can understand not liking the techsuit though.

Sort of; they supposedly are going to fire Chip from FNSM and give it to Slott as a containment book with the added bonus that FNSM will go on "nigger time" publication as far as Slott no longer being bound by deadlines and shit.

Also, rumor is that Spencer's going to be on a strict editorial mandate: small scale shit, low tech super-villains, and lots of masturbation about how NYC is the greatest place on Earth and how everywhere else sucks.....
>>
>>93900800
Not true.

The OMIT retcon was that Mephisto's "sell your marriage out to save May" deal was actually for MJ not Peter.

He just made the offer to Peter first because Mephisto is a shit. But mainly, because he knew MJ would NEVER sell out her marriage unless Peter consented to it.

MJ figured this out and by agreeing to let Peter "Make The Deal", she was actually consenting to the deal with the devil. Hence why she demanded the original deal modified so that Peter A. Never remembers it happened and B. Mephisto vows to never come near Peter again (the later was invalidated with Peter dying in AMS #700, hence why Mephisto was terrorizing Peter in DP/SM).
