Talk about the most self congratulatory soap boxes in comics. The Gabby uses Moon Girl to say how "The rules are put on us so white boys can get away with everything" and "If I so smart at a young age, why can't I vote?" It's so self centered and egotistical that I don't even think Gabby herself has deeply thought about this. If we have kids vote cause high IQ, then what is the barrier IQ to start letting kids vote? What about kids who are unable to get access to that information or in poorer schools? Wouldn't politicians who promise more candy to the kids manipulate hem more? And then the follow the rules shit. You're so naive to believe that rules were put in place just to keep "the poor minorities down"? Like, sure, that could be the case in some instances, but to broadly say that even rules your parents put on you are just so that more privileged people can take advantage?

Like, America is so bad and gross to the point that I don't even save pages from that book, but the Moon Girl speech thing got me mad the most because it's the writer rewarding herself for her own ignorance.

Avengers Arena. Essentially, after this long running cult book, Avengers Academy, ended, it was turned into a Hunger Games book, where Arcade kidnapped 20 teen heroes, including kids from Avengers Academy, the Runaways, and some others, and just unceremoniously killed a lot off. Mettle, who was a fan favorite and one of the top two best characters in the book it switched between him and Hazmat was blown up in the first issue of Arena to show how "Real" it was.

I described as much in the filename: It's Scott Snyder castrating Two-Face for the sake of Jokerwanking. This is only one of the worse examples of Jokerwankery in recent years.

It's like an even worse of that hospital scene in The Dark Knight. It's Harvey being reduced to an impotent schmuck to paint The Joker as le master of manipulation. Only this time it's even worse because in the movie, it made some sense since that Harvey was hospitalized, traumatized and genuinely helpless. Here, he is perfectly fine, has been a criminal for years, and has a fucking gun pointed to Joker's head. And, even though he is a lawyer, even though Harvey takes little bullshit from anyone, and even though he has a gun, all he says is a "S-shut up!" while The Joker monologues as usual.

But the worst part is that Joker cripples him with the line

As if Two-Face has never been faced with a decision that has more than two black-and-white factors.
And he just gives up, without even flipping his coin. Harvey chose, of his own free will, to relent and be defeated by the Joker's points, without even a retort. Because Scott Snyder's Joker is an all-knowing, all-powerful master villain who can crush everyone with just a few words, regardless of whether or not it makes sense for the other characters

I mean, imagine if Two-Face was a reckless and mentally ill man compelled to flip his coin whether to perform or not perform an action no matter what anyone else says ? Then this scene would simply not work, right ?
Thank god Snyder's Harvey is just an evil chump, no different than the other evil chumps of Gotham, ready to be knocked around by the allmighty "greatest villain of all time" Joker.

I see why that guy is upset. The Lucifer in the Holly Black Vertigo series from a few years ago seems to be based on general public characterisation of the Devil, not the Gaiman/Carey one, which was more of a Milton version. Her series is supposed to be a quasi-sequel to the old Vertigo Lucifer series, but she is using a totally different characterisation (it also has Lucifer thinking that Morpheus still rules the Dreaming).
In the Vertigo-Universe, there was also the First of the Fallen, who fits closer into the "tempting people for souls" archetype. Even focusing just on DC proper, there was also Neron that people used as a Prince of Hell, and he fits the public perception well too.

My question was more, yeah, Lucifer may not be actually making people going to hell or ever really wanting them too. But was he still there for a reason, Milton style? People remember his scene in Sandman, and he got his own ongoing that I never read. So was he actually shown to just be kind of a tired guy who didn't want know trouble? The big problem that he had with everything was the concept of predestination. I don't have the images with me, but he had a few discussions with God and the Archangel Michael about predestination and his role to rebel against the Silver City (or Heaven specifically). He rebelled against God, and lost a civil war in heaven. He was offered Hell in order to broker peace, and he accepted it because he thought it would be the furthest place away from the Presence (God). It was only in the thousands of years that passed that he realized that he was still part of God's plan, and that made him bitter. Closing Hell in Sandman was part of an attempt to go off script, but he could never literally and figuratively leave the page until the end of his solo series, where he presumably flew into the Void between pages.
The very first story arc in the solo series involved him performing a job for God in exchange for a passageway into the Void. His primary mission was to escape predestination. There were a few good pages with him talking to Michael about staying on script, but I don't have them with me.

He IS a complete asshole though. I would never say that he was a kind character, but he was brutally honest. In that first story arc, he told a girl that she would have one opportunity to save her brother's life, and then later told her that she had wasted that opportunity by stopping the magical thing that was harming people. He never told the girl when the opportunity was going to happen.

Vision built himself a family using the encoded personality engrams of the Scarlet Witch she gave him (remember, his own personality is based on Simon Williams), using combinations of both to create two children.
It was tragic, creepy and moving how they tried to be a normal family, but it was clear from the start that it was going to end horribly.
One day, Eric Williams - aka the Reaper - attacked them when the Vision was not home, and his wife killed him and buried him in the back yard. Things got more difficult from there on out. Victor Mancha - a human/android hybrid created by Ultron to infiltrate the Avengers as the heroic Victorious so he could destroy them once he'd grown up - was sent to talk to the Visions since he is basically related to them (He and Vision are brothers, in a sense, hence the 'Uncle') but unfortunately Victor had issues of his own and accidentally killed the Visions' son, whom he'd grown close to.
When the Vision learned of this, he decided to kill Victor in return, in violation of everything he believed in; but a father's broken heart superceded his ethical beliefs. This scene is basically his wife saving him, so we never learn whether he really would have done it.
And Victor dies, finally at peace, since he finally doesn't have to fear becoming the one who killed the Avengers.

"Avengers Arena" by Dennis Hopeless.
Marvel saw the box office returns for the then-recent "The Hunger Games" movie and thought that if they made their own take on the concept that they'd see sales go through the roof. So, they took the teenage cast of the much-better and recently-ended "Avengers Academy", mixed in a few Original Character Do Not Steals, and forced them onto an island location upon which Arcade (previously a C- to B-List villain) forced said teenagers to fight each other to the death for the amusement of himself and of YouTube viewers.

This particular panel comes from the end of the first issue. After Arcade has corralled everybody together and explained the rules, he chooses to make a display of his powers by decimating Mettle, one of the more loved new characters in "Avengers Academy"; he was briefly a meme on 4chan. This also occurred directly in front of his girlfriend, Hazmat, also a popular "Avengers Academy" character.
