Good evening, owls
Alas, Yorick...

spoiler: it's Good Chaykin
>>93848793
Had anyone done such complete, stylish, engaged retrofuturism in comics before this?
>>93848819
>why even live
>>93848819
It kinda reminds me of Batman the animated series.
>>93848793
>spoiler: it's Good Chaykin
wew
>>93848848
This is from before that.
>>93848848
I mean, of course, other way around influence-wise
Maybe this is one of those comics that almost no one read but everyone who did went into comics

Hello, Storyteller.
I can't stress enough how much I miss less complicated art like this. It's just so much easier on the eyes.
Also, The Sexy Brutale is pretty cool.
>>93848884
It also influenced Brazil and Dark City.
>>93848909
Wonder if that's a nod to Max Brod, Kafka's friend and literary executor
>>93848941
For film METROPOLIS is the obvious Ursprung (and for so many other things); what catches my eye is how things here get twisted toward surreal
>>93848981
(I have a curl-up-and-die headache, so we'll see how this goes)
>>93849004
who's a Chekov fan
>>93849037
I'm more of a Spock man myself.
>>93849037
>that death notice for Beto
>>93849066
Pretty sure she meant the famous playwright, Anton Chekhov.
>>93849086
>>93849108
Pretty sure that was a joke.
>>93849137
it's a good joke, Brent
>>93849137
A bad one. Seriously, don't ever take the low hanging fruit. Have some dignity.
>>93849159
>>93849191
Okay, spergy.
>>93849193
>suddenly red eyes
In case you were wondering, yes, this guy is, in fact, quite evil.

is this /d/?
Hey, Storyteller. You're clearly not at a 100%, maybe you ought to call it a night.
>>93849331
>pesimest
Is this misspelling intentional?
HI THead
Metal doing an old fashioned JLA scavenger hunt makes me so happy
>>93849383
we're gonna finish this issue then I'm going to chug like 5 advil and maybe go for a walk except it's hellish outside
IDGI, I got enough sleep, I haven't been sitting around all day, but it's head in a fucking vice shit
>>93849417
unsure!
so is anyone reading Orlando JLA, still/previously/etc? unsure if I should dip in or not
>>93849380
Not quite, but it sounds handy.

>>93849494

I mean, it's not straightforwardly bad. It's just aggressively mediocre. Lobo delivers a laugh every now and them, and it's always nice to see someone call Batman on his bullshit, but otherwise it's painfully dull. The only reason I'm sticking with it is the vain hope of a reference to L.E.G.I.O.N, and because I want to eventually see what this microverse shit is all about.
Can't recommend it. Sorry.
>>93849536
that first panel is some Leni Riefenstahl shit, damn
>>93849566
this is weirdly making me want to rewatch plotless (and superior) Aeon Flux
(superior to the later shit where they talk and all)
>>93849642
I just realized that maybe we'll get new MAGE merchandise, now
>>93849464
It's fine. I think a different artist would help instead of the house style guy on it now
>>93849671
Glow in the dark baseball bat when?
>>93849671
these short backups are love and life
>>93849736
I just know in some Toronto thrift store, there's a Mr. X t-shirt hiding in a pile of crap
>>93849736
They really are. I wish stuff like this was more common. Alas.
>>93849784
gonna go chug painkillers
thanks for reading back tomorrow off Saturday
>>93849464
It's really fucking bad.
>>93849685
Fuck off, Reis is goddamn Kirby compared to Orlando's shit writing.
>>93849809
Thanks OP. Hope you feel better.
>>93849809
feel better OP!
>>93849809
Thanks for posting as always, Storyteller.
Feel better, and dream of the Hawks flying together in happy matrimony.
Also, when your headache clears up, check out this game called The Sexy Brutale. It's this neat little murder mystery puzzle game the centers around a time cycle mechanic. Interesting stuff.
>>93849817
Had Reis been on it??? Normally I love the dude but I thought monster boy was someone else
>>93849438
Could be from the weather. I tend to get wicked headaches whenever a pressure front moves through.
>>93848943
I'm a big fan of the lettering on this page.
>>93849736
As you might expect, Genesis 19:24:
>Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven.
>>93848739
good shit. Keep that Mister X coming.
>>93848739
consistently amazing covers on this series
