It's true in America, but it depends on the immigrant. Black kids and Hispanic kids are assumed to not do well at school. Meanwhile most other immigrant kids including Arab kids are assumed to do well. The reasons are complicated but one is it's so hard to immigrate from non Hispanic populated places that the parents are usually doctors with strict and high standards. Kids of gay parents are also assumed to do better in school because their parents are more likely to be upper class. Also no "whoopsie" babies for gay parents there was usually a lot of planning and investment.
