aliens comics are more sporadic since so many different writers and artist work on it but overall they're quality. there are some damn good stories in there, just wait till you get to labyrinth.

I feel like I might like Lobo more when he's not by himself. Like in 52 or in that recent JLvSuicideSquad event. I remember Highway To Hell being okay and VsMask was great but that might be cause I love Mask so much, and NuBo was just meh.

Generalizations are kinda pointless.

if you sand evenly around all the surface and varnish with care you can give back a couple decades worth of use on that old table.

If you wanted to jump to Infinite Crisis and 52 that's a good way.
Infinite Crisis is the big reboot of the 00s and 52 is debatebly the best big event comic of DC/Marvel, and focuses on minor characters so by the end of it you'll be super into the entire DCuniverse in general.

Winona, Minnesota; small city of ~30,000 people. We have a comic book store called Jimmy Jams that's pretty much your standard LCS plus a used bookstore called Chapter 2 Books that sells comics. The bookstore surprisingly has a shit ton of good comics in there. I've picked up stuff like Denny O'Neil's entire run on the Question (minus the annuals) and Peter Milligan's Enigma and seen stuff like the Mark Gruenwald Squadron Supreme mini and issues of Jack Kirby's New Gods and Kyle Baker's Plastic Man there.

A nice big city, and work has got me used to driving a hour in traffic so I'm never shy to go the distance for a good comic deal.
Hit up Bedrock City Comics and the dealings with other comicbook stores in the city have been good.
If the place wasn't a near boil hot former-swampland full of insane drivers it could be paradise.

I've got this pre-ordered at Amazon just in case, but as a non-manga reader how hard is it to accustom yourself to reading right-to-left, which is the format of this release? I read some of the recoloured Epic issues in the 90s so thought I would dive into manga with this new reprint.

Santa Rosa CA here, 2 good comic shops, one has a lot of tpb's and is in the downtown area and the other is smaller but has a lot of random sales and a lot of neat events like trivia, game nights and events like that . We also have a Charles Schulz museum that I have never been to and a lot of good local breweries

Bought the second trade last weekend and enjoyed it enough to pick up floppies to catch up.

Really nice surprise. I thought I'd hate this series because "wacky" characters usually grate on me, but Gwen is actually a really likeable protagonist. She's such a fuck up that it's endearing.

top row 4th book on the left (DC Deluxe Editions are usually a bit taller than trades) and the book itself without the dust cover has that nice velvety covering and the ebossed, stamped in font. DC put out a few books like that (like LoSH The Curse and Great Darkness Saga for example) and they are of superb quality.

It is pretty amazing. China Mieville is actually a novel writer, his books are fucking amazing, too.
Stuff like his Bas-Lag series (Perdito Street Station, The Scar, Iron Council), Embassy Town or The City & The City are really enjoyable.
It's not your usual fantasy stuff, but rather weird fantasy with elements of urban fantasy but without the horrible tropes that make the urban fantasy genre such a heap of shit.

I see you too are/were into the fantasy novels. Terry Brooks is what really kicked me off on reading big fantasy stories. The Hobbit started it and I had read some other stuff like Narnia and other kids stuff but in grade 4 when I found The Sword of Shannara I was off.

Basically my old car's AC had this issue where the floor of the car would become soaking wet. Didn't know the book was down there so by the time I realized it, the book was 100% soaked through.

Oh, the only comics there are Bone. Behind the dragon books are Nintendo Powers, and there's also The Secrets of Droon, the first fantasy series I ever read. (There were already a bunch out when I started, so I got the series completely out of order. I kind of wish I'd gotten the last eleven books, so I could have the full set.)

Sanderson is also solid, although the White Sand graphic novel is garbage. You're much better getting the White Sand rough draft that he gives away for free.

Fuck off Rooney, it's obvious you don't know how to read comics. Reading digital takes away some of the impact a comic has (depending on the author of course) cause you have to scroll to see the whole page. Writers and artists compose the story so you see the page as well as the panels layed out. Then there is such a thing as the "page turn' which works like a long pause and good writers use that to their advantage. Not all writers and artists are good at this but some are fantastic at it. I do read some stuff digitally, but that's usually stuff I'm either sampling or wouldn't buy.

A Sandman book of mine ended up in the same condition. I was home in a flash flood/heavy rain storm and had to go out to buy food. I had Sandman 7 TPB, another book and a few other things in my bag and they all got soaked through. I don't know if my zipper wasn't closed 100% or the bag was just shitty.

Just finished One More Year. If you like either of those books at all, read it. It is NOT a continuation of Amsterdam though - it's a prequel of sorts to Megahex. It collects Life Zone, Worst Behavior and some other shorts Hanselmann's put out. Some new material too, but predominantly not.

Working on putting together close to 20 years worth of Avengers stories with tie-ins. Already have the two Busiek omnibus collections & the Geoff Johns complete collections, and have the Hickman omni on the way. By the end of the year the rest of the Bendis run will be released in TPBs, and all I'll need is for Marvel to put out the second Hickman omnibus

Literally just finished it tonight. Thanks for asking.

Ok, first of all, it's not canon. I'm not sure about the behind-the-scenes story, but for some reason this shit got sidelined to being a movie set in the Ultimate U.

Secondly, Tony has powers. Like actual powers. I won't spoil it because it's actually pretty interesting, but it surprisingly didn't bother me. He still felt like Tony.

And finally, the first volume was REALLY good. Good enough for me to go back the next day and get the second one. It was more about Howard Stark and Tony's child years. The art by Andy Kubert was amazing. I've never really been an Iron Man fan (unless RDJ is playing him), but this legit grabbed my attention. I'd say it's a really solid 8/10, elseworlds style story.
The second one, on the other hand, was pretty damn disappointing. I mean, it was fine, but nothing really happened. And everything that didn't happen, I kind of already assumed was going to happen anyway. The big bad reveal at the end was supposed to be a big twist, but I saw it coming from a mile away. On top of that, the art by Pasqual Ferry was garbage. I can't stand that guy. There's no style to his art at all. Just bland backgrounds and people standing and talking and every once in a while someone poses for a cool hero shot.

tl:dr the first one was very good, the second one wasn't.
