problem is in a shared universe, you just bring in a specialist (strange, probably) and go back to what you're doing

That's kinda like what I'm talking about, but I was thinking about something more in line with horror stuff. I doubt Tony is as fearless as Doom, Blade or such characters. How would he handle facing something he cannot understand, like an evil spirit, while being scared shitless?

Gillen's run issue 4 is the closest you get. Some cultists use extremis to make a bunch of women "perfect" carriers for Cthonic Elder God babies. Doesn't go true Elder God but it's cool. Takes place in the catacombs. References Lovecraft. I'd love to see like a full on book or multi issue arc that's closer to what you're talking about though

Tony has dealt with magic.

Basically, his suit's regular defenses fail, he can apply science when taking them down, but he can't redirect the heat from magical flames to power his systems or see demons with his thermal systems, etc.

An annual from the nineties comes to mind where he fought a Japanese mythical demon alongside mystically empowered samurai. He copes but he got fucked up.

That's probably the main weakness of each hero having a seperate rogues gallery to be fair, that most of their villains are always their opposites, or some kind of perversion of their noble intent, or someone with a similar status who wants revenge...

I mean, everyone would stop bitching about Hawkeye if they put him in a Predator/Alien scenario with a far more powerful opponent. I know he's not Iron Man, but he's literally doing more damage than the assassin armed with actual guns.
