Can we talk about how american dad completely avoids talking about donald trump?

even though stan smith would ironically vote for him
>>
That's not what irony is.

And no, the fact that a television show not discussing a reality television star's political career isn't a topic that needs to be analyzed in any real detail.
>>
>>93814390
except there's been multiple episodes and about people's political career (ollie north, abe , reagan)

besides the fact that his idol is reagan and the similaritys between reagan and trump are huge to say the least
>>
>>93814354
No, stop kidding yourself. He would've voted for either Ted Cruz or Jeb Bush.

why?

stan is a capitalist in every sense of the word
>>
>>93814514
>jeb bush
hi jeb, the only people who promised to vote for you were saying it out of pity btw
>>
>>93814514
>the die hard republican who hates immigrants, foreigners and hippies wouldn't vote for Trump
>>
>>93815259
>>93815259
Stan is a conservative though. He'd most likely vote for the most conservative candidate which was not Trump.
>>
>>93814486
What a facile understanding of Reagan. He had greater similarities to Obama than he does to Trump.
>>
>>93814354
>completely avoids talking about donald trump?

Because they know full well they are completely out of touch with why he's popular(like matt and trey) and would just end up sounding like shills rather than being funny(like matt and trey)
>>
>>93814514
>slow and steady
>>
>>93814354
I don't say much good about American Dad, but I'm glad they didn't go easy and just make fun of trump like every other work of fiction was doing at the time.
>>
>>93814354
They mentioned the election in the President Garfield episode.
>>
Trump jokes are dead and tired, everyone is exhausted from politics and literally anything else is better.
>>
>>93814354
Because the 2016 election was a black hole of comedy. There was nothing funny about it because liberals were more mean-spirited than comedic, and anything pro-right has been out of vogue in media since the early aughts.
>>
>>93815328
Not being well versed in Reagan, how is he closer to Obama. In detail, if possible.
>>
>>93814354

Trump jokes only really fit with Stan and Roger basically became the heart of most episodes once the writers realized the potential of his personas. Stan is around mainly to be a foil to the family and stories that are actually focused on him alone tend to involve the CIA. The show stopped caring about politics in leiu of squirrels reenacting What's Eating Gilbert Grape a long time ago.
>>
>>93814486
>besides the fact that his idol is reagan and the similaritys between reagan and trump are huge to say the least

not at all, really. Trump's positions are far more aligned with the platform of the Democratic Party during Reagan's time. love or hate him, I barely consider Trump a Republican.

>>93815328
this. both are neoliberal scum.
>>
>>93817044
>Reagan a neoliberal

Not with that military spending and trickle down economics. Certainly did no favors for the gay community with his reaction to AIDs either.
>>
Stan is a neocon who'd probably be on the #NeverTrump Bandwagon.
>>
>>93817117
neoliberal =/= liberal. That isn't what a neoliberal is at all, guy. It's an economic model and one that every president since Reagan (excluding Trump mostly) has lived by.
>>
>>93814354
Because people lose their jobs over political jokes nowadays.
>>
>>93817331
Es ist all part of the neues ordnung, comrade.
