which is the best spiderman moive ( no sequels)
http://www.strawpoll.me/13404813

how many stars would you give the original raimi film?

2 is nice and all, but the dinner scene from 1 is stull my favourite scene in all of Spider-Man movies
>that moment when Norman notices Peter's wound
>May slapping Norman's hand and his reaction to it
For all its campiness the movie could get pretty tense when it wanted to.

>>
>>93791474
yeah, everybody says the webb films were dark and serious, but there were parts where the raimi films could get darker than anything in the webb films,

also the forced darkness of the webb films made the goofier moments stick out like a sore thumb
the raimi films could keep the tone flowing throughout.
>>
>>93791427
It's Spider-Man, not spiderman.
>>
>>93791474
I know lot of people shit on the raimi films now a days and some even claim that they weren't even clsoe to the original spiderman. I can see that, but they maintained more than a passing semblance to the characters and they had a lot of emotionally potent and memorable scenes.

How the fuck do you use the "we're not so different you and I" line and make it work so well? That whole scene is memorable and really really interesting despite how cheesy that line was.
>>
>>93791596
to be fair it's also movie not moive

but yes, I have the same frustration as you do at the internet saying they're the "biggest spiderman fans in the world" at the moment.

I also have a problem with comic sites calling Watchmen a graphic novel though so there's that.

It's weird how Sony/disney are still unable to write a better Spider-man movie. Amazing was shit and Homecoming is barely a Spider-man movie.
>>
>>93791384

>Spidey is in a cage match and mocking his opponent
>"Nice costume. Did your husband make it for you?"

Damn, re-watching this and that line made me cringe so hard. How could Raimi have thought this was acceptable?

>Uncle Ben is dying
>"Peter... Let me tell you about my time in Korea. I loved it. The smell of burning flesh. The screaming. The look in an unarmed combatant as I shot him from thirty yards away... it was intoxicating, Pete."

Jesus Christ, why?
>>
>>93792120
>oh, you're sad because a girl at your high-school doesn't like you back? Peter, when I was your age, I left school to bullseye gooks from a helicopter in the middle of some god forsaken jungle. I fried so many slopes, they named a brand of rice after me. Don't tell me you have it hard because you're a pathetic kissless virgin. You can act sad when you have to leave behind the lady-boy you fell in love with and made passionate steamy love to in a collapsing bamboo shack, just like I did. You think I felt good about firebombing his chink village and watching our fuck-hut burn to the ground? We were going to build our lives together there, Peter! You know what? Fuck you. Get the fuck out of my car.

>Mary Jane gets mad at Harry for this

I never understood that. The guy was clearly in shock about his dad being an asshole out of nowhere.

Not only that, it's really weird that Harry turns around and gets mad at Mary Jane for getting angry at Norman saying those things.
>>
>>93791611
>>93791639
Why does he even want to team up with Spider-Man, though? Up to this point, his sole motivation has been "I have power, so I'm going to use it to destroy the people who piss me off."

Which includes Spider-Man.

He should've just fucking killed him.
>>
>>93791674
That costume was unforgiveably bad, but do you know why it's like that?

Because they animated Spidey in 3DS Max (which is great for animating bodies, and was the go-to program of the day for that) and Gobby in Lightwave. Which is for landscapes and buildings. So they spent a whole lot of wasted time on trying to get Gobby to even move, writing all kinds of add-on shit for LW just to get things done that they could have done quicker and easier in Max.

To this day I don't think I've heard a real explanation of why anybody would do that, but I'm pretty sure it was supported by Raimi, even if the decision didn't originate with him. Because they were making this stiff, body-armored Gobby, the final design they went with reflects the limitations of Lightwave at the turn of the century (it's much improved since then). There was simply no way to do the class goblin mask properly with LW back then; you'd never get it rendered in time.

>>

Webb's movies weren't really dark. The first one was serious, though.

And I'll always defend it as a very underrated adaptation. It's got some of my favorite Spider-Man movie moments ever.
>>
>>93793136
>Not only that, it's really weird that Harry turns around and gets mad at Mary Jane for getting angry at Norman saying those things.

On the contrary, it makes perfect sense. It's classic daddy issues and cognitive dissonance. Harry desperately wants Norman's love. In his mind he unconsciously decides that Norman's love must therefore be of great value, otherwise he would not want it. Therefore, Norman himself must be of great value.

>Raimi later admitted that roughly 50 hours of footage was filmed of Dafoe's performance as Norman Osborn, with barely 1% of this making the final cut.'We just had reels and reels of it,' the director said, 'I would say cut, but he would just keep going deeper and darker, bringing all of these ideas into it that weren't in the script. For example, a sub plot of Norman's father being an SS officer, or the idea that the Goblin transformation represented Nietzsche's Ubermensch. So after I while, I stopped saying 'cut'.' Other actors recalled Dafoe's usage of multiple props to aid his performance that he brought himself, presumably from his own home. 'He had this large green dildo he loved to wave about,' Tobey Maguire remembers, 'sometimes he would bring it out of nowhere and slap me across the face with it. During fight scenes when we were grappling on the ground he would tease it around my 'beautiful asshole', as he called it.' James Franco also recalled him having 'this large, antique bullwhip... we asked where he got it from, and he would only say that it was a family heirloom. Some prop guys on set said it must have been from at least the 1800s. ON a few occasions when I fucked up my lines, he would threaten me with it, telling me to give him an excuse 'to pay out like old Buck Dafoe did to the little negro boys'. Another actor from the film, who requested she remained private, said Dafoe always had a copy of the Quran lying around on set, and some PAs caught him 'pouring over it repeatedly' in his trailer.

Raimi's J. Jonah was amazing overall, but this line seemed really out of place, even for him.
>>
Where did Raimiposting come from? I don't get it, is it just a reaction to the "Did your husband make it for you?" line?

>>93801874
Yes. Combine that with the overall quote worthiness of the series, it's gold.

>You're goddamned right we killed those kids, Parker! We had to - they were the next generation of Zionist oppressors! Half of me is from the fucking moon and even he knows kykes aren't to be trusted. A goddamned batch of living tar knows better than you do, kid. Uncle Ben was right, you're dirt. You don't deserve your power. You had a portable wardrobe and onahole and you threw it away and now my manlet DYEL ass has it. That's right Peter - this alien sucks dicks! It's sucking me off right now, and we love it! He feels it too, and it's like a big gay feedback loop. That's why I killed those kids, Peter. No, I did not die that night on New York. I faked my own death and fled to Argentina. Took a page right off the Fuhrer's book. In fact, now I know the pain he must have felt... watching his great nation be torn down by minorities from afar... almost as bad as having to deal with these spics everyday.
>"I'm sorry for not telling you sooner, Pete. You or Aunt May. I wanted to let yo know that I was alright. But I couldn't let them know... the Jews were onto me. They wanted me gone, and they would have gotten you two as well. I knew too much...
>"But now, things have changed. I heard you took down those Osborn kikes yourself. You have done your old Uncle Ben proud, boy. But it isn't over yet, and now we're gonna take the fight to them. We'll fight for our white America."
