Goddamn this is gonna be great

Does anyone care? There's a reason it's one of the lowest grossing cape flicks.
>>
>>93789824
You forgot Thor Ragnarok. It's kind of crazy how much news we're about to get.
>>93789825
I liked the first one, and I'm excited to see where they go with this sequel.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Rumors are that he'll get some interesting stuff regarding his lab, so I'm thinking those pocket laboratories he always used to carry around in the Avengers along with Microverse shenanigans. Also they'll be able to shrink and grow the things around them this time, leading to one Honey I Shrunk the Kids style set piece with Luiz's van and a dog.

Not true at all. The Hulk is the lowest.

anyhow, back to Ant Man

Did I hear correctly that they are casting someone for Janet this time? So I'm guessing they are going to the quantum realm to find her. That would be awesome, a movie almost entirely set in the quantum realm.

Edgar Wright had no business doing a Disney by-the-numbers comicbook movie in the first place. That was destined to be a exercise in frustration for both parties, we're lucky the partnership dissolved early on rather than the inevitable trainwreck the marriage would've resulted in.

Is that why modern blockbusters have such high budgets? Just to pay a bunch of assholes that don't deserve all that money? Their salaries could go towards making the actual MOVIES better. The cgi in CW and AoU looked like shit.

Reminds me of getting those guys that made Clone High and the 21 Jump Street movies to make a bland by the numbers Star Wars film. What the fuck was Kathleen Kennedy thinking?
>>
>>93789911
She's straight up a bad actress.
>>
>>93790820
I bet that's a SDCC reveal. Jimmy Woo is the guy who played Kim Jong Un in the Interview. Also that girl from Black Mirror has an unspecified role that people are guessing is the female Beetle.
>>
>>93790628
Those are the worst scenes in the movie. They feel like they were cut with a machete and the dialogue is clunky as fuck.
>>
>>93789825
Pun intended?
>>
>>93791157
I used to believe that too. "Higher budget must mean better CGI", but it doesn't. It's just a way to pay for actors. It's like the Deadpool movie. That movie was 76 million, and the special effects were on par as a lot of other superhero films. It's pretty demeaning
>>
>>93790820
>Did I hear correctly that they are casting someone for Thor? So I'm guessing they are going to Asgard. That would be awesome, a movie almost entirely set in Asgard.
>>
>>93790837
wrights movie was going to be shit. All the rewrites that McKay and Rudd did saved it, and Reed knew exactly the right vision for it. Turning Hank into Nanomachine is a dumb idea
>>
>>93791182
>Scott Pym
Why?
>>
>>93791157
while RDJ makes far more than all the other actors in the franchise, there is a justifiable reason for it. He built the franchise. And also, he was the one that brought Marvel back to the table to renegotiate contracts for all the other actors. He actually forced them to start paying the other actors better.
>>
>>93791252
>disliking the training montage
absolute plebian
>>
>>93790837
To be honest, I glad Edgar Wright left, his version of the movie made the characters feel like a bunch of asshats. Plus the reason he left was because was the flashback scene at the start of the movie, which was quite petty.

Still, he made Baby Driver so all is well.
>>
>>93790837
>That and glocks don't have external hammers!
How to triger /k/ 101, huh?
>>
>>93790862
He said probably, because maybe they actually make Carol interesting and likable which Marvel have been trying to do the last few years and failing each tine.
>>
>>93791393
I trust Fiege to make Carol interesting far more than any current Marvel comic writer. Ewing did alright
>>
>>93789789
I find it ironic that superhero movies are usually obsessed with showing the actor's faces and will go out of their way to keep them out of their masks as much as possible, but here they not only make Ant-Man's mask cover his entire face, they also give Wasp a full-face mask even though in the comics she doesn't have any mask at all. Seems counter-intuitive is all I'm saying.
>>
>>93791503
They sort of wrote them into that corner when they decided to make it so you need a full body suit to shrink or you'll die like the vacuum of space
>>
>>93791393
Hey. Reed & Ewing did fine.

>>

That's not what I was saying but the training montage was just alright. It did nothing special.

That's because the director's own effects company did a lot of work for cheap/free. And then they kicked him out of the sequel. Fucking ungrateful execs.

Ultron had so many CGI shots they were still only finishing some sequences just before release when they'd already started them before Avengers 1 premiered.

The way modern effects work is you need time and you need money. You can do without one of either but without both you'll have some shots that exist solely for /tv/ to post AHAHAH webm files of. On movies like this the time and money is usually reserved for the big set piece moments where you want every penny to show on screen. For Ultron that was probably the Hulkbuster fight. On top of the cost the studio has a very spcific date set in stone that he filmmakers have to meet, and if they fail it potential billions are at stake. So the end result you get is stuff like Ultron or BVS where there's some really great shots and a lot of quick disjointed bits in between the gaps that look fucking awful, because why waste more money on a shot of a floating truck that lasts five seconds in a 150 minute movie? Not to mention top rank special effects houses like Lucasfilm or WETA tend to get those time and money jobs while the other stuff gets farmed out to cheaper places.

Now Ant-Man had a lot of sequences where they could use very real, very solid physical props as references, like the train set fight or the briefcase fight. That saves on time and money. It had lots of micro-photography sequences where you just had to animate a CGI Ant-Man running along on footage you already had in the can. You had microverse footage where the only thing you had to convincingly animate was Scott himself, the rest was just cool screensavers shots. You had a bad guy who only tuend into a CGI effect in the last 20 minutes of the film, unlike Ultron.

The CGI effects this film required were far less intensive or numerous than Ultron's and you had various workarounds or cost-cutting measures that allowed that money to go further. Also the only really expensive actor they had to pay for was Michael Douglas.
