It sort of depends on what the magic does. He's not weak to fire, so if you just use magic to conjure normal fire, it won't hurt him. If you use magic fire that can burn things that doesn't normally burn, it will burn him.
It's the same as summoning a normal sword and trying to hit him with it. Won't do shit. But a specifically magic sword that can harm via magic, and not the physical edge of the blade, will.
