4 episodes a savior does not make
>>
next season is 8 episodes
>>
Now make an R-rated, theatrically-released action/horror animated movie.
>>
>>93779880
This. A claim like that can only be made if Castlevania somehow gets so successful for netflix that it snowballs into netflix going into a frenzy and jumping on the action animation train at full speed.

Which is very, very doubtful. Entertaining 4 episodes, though
>>

>see some dude on /co/ assuming this has "the usual" English voice cast and talking about how much he hates them

Bet that dude feels like an idiot now.
>>
>>93781924
I mean they also have Voltron which is going on it's thirst season. Now they have castlevania, plus all the anime they sub. They seem to want to get the jump on it and are doing what they need to
>>
>>93782341
I love Armitage and Strike Back season 1 (The only one that counts) is a top tier show. That said... This is not his best work.
>>
Gotta say the English dub was great. Trevor's voice was on point, his GF I forget her name, was cute in voice & character. However at no point did I feel she was just eye candy.
>>
looks cool
is it any good?
>>
Only complaint I have is the first moments when they kill Dracula's wife for reasons and she's like "No, forgive them! They know not what they do!" while she's BURNING AT THE STAKE.

Fuck woman, you're about to leave the mortal coil in a charred blaze because of a huge bullshit perpetrated by assholes. How about some anger? I wanted her to yell to Dracula "Fuck this fucking country and their bent priests".

That and how she approached the castle and won him over with her magic dream pixie girl attitude felt forced and phony. Granted, I don't know much about Castlevania lore, I'm just saying what it felt like.
>>
>>93783750
It's only 4 episodes, anon
>>
>>93783810
so? is it good or not?
>>

more like it made Castlevania's corpse twitch a bit

>>
>>93783808
She didn't want those people to die despite their ignorance. She knew what Dracula was capable of, and despite the fact that she was dying didnt want to see innocent men, women, children and babes torn apart for the sake of avenging her. People like that do exist. We have it in ourselves to be noble abd heroic as well as monstrous and spiteful. It's a choice we make based somewhat on societal programming, but a choice nonetheless.

Why would anyone want normal actors over voice actors?

Voice actors are better at playing animated characters. "Real" actors never put any effort or emotion into it and sound painfully obviously like they think they're too good to be voicing a cartoon.
>>
>>93784244
pretty solid. some people get pissy about gore and swearing but since its announcement they've said it will be mature and violent.

and Richard Armitage is fantastic in it as Trevor
>>
>>93783808
>"No, forgive them! They know not what they do!" while she's BURNING AT THE STAKE.
She's emulating Jesus's plea to God to spare his crucifiers. It's to paint her as a martyr and to show how the show is going to approach religion (sincere/purehearted belief vs powerful hypocrites). Her being angry about it would go against the point.
>>

In the games, she dies the same way, but with a small difference. She's not shouting at the sky to Dracula, who may not be watching. She's instead talking to her son Adrian (Alucard) who is there in the crowd, who she gives her last words to.
She basically says to her son to tell Dracula "Please don't hate humans. If you can't live with them, don't make their lives worse. They already suck as is." And that she'll love them both forever.

One of the instruction manual even directly compares her to Jesus.

Her death is based off SotN. The Netflix series takes aspects of SotN (Lisa's Death, Alucard & Dracula's design, Alucard's weapon, etc.) & Mixes it with Dracula's Curse, which of you didn't know is the Subtitle of Castlevania 3. They're trying to make a story since like you said, Castlevania 3 didn't have much of a story.

Like others have said, do a bit of research before jumping the like so many others have because of religion which has been in Castlevania before Lord of Shadows.
>>
>>93783808
Jews killed Jesus.
Church killed Dracula's wife, and the little humanity he had.

Tell me, who did the worst?
>>
>>93787421

I've never understood this, the Romans killed Jesus, why don't people hate Italians?
>>
>>93787458
Pontius Pilate asked the Jews to chose the man who would be crucified, and the Jews chose Jesus because they didn't see him as a savior or king.
>>
>>93787478

But like, the Jews were scared and the Romans still were the ones who asked them to who to murder.
>>
>>93787500
The language in the Gospels more or less exonerates Pilate and the Romans. This seems to make some sense, given who wrote the Gospels; a new religious is looking for reasons to distance themselves from the Jews. As such, the text of Matthew has been used as justification for the claim of Jewish deicide (and for anti-semitism among various Christian sects) for a long damn time. The wiki article on this topic suggests contemporary scholars and historians agree that the Jewish high priests in Jerusalem are culpable, and the charge of deicide was repudiated by the Catholic church a few decades ago.
>>
>>93787634
To add to this, the Jewish authorities sought Jesus' execution, but had to go through the Romans to get it accomplished because they didn't have the authority to kill him.

So this is pretty weird. I share my Netflix account with my cousin Joy, and we maintain separate profiles. I was curious to see what she'd been watching lately so I signed in using her account just to see her "Continue watching" list. Whilst doing so, I noticed that Netflix showed Castlevania with a very different thumbnail than it does for me. Pic related.

We're both Canadian, so it's not a by-country difference. I wonder if the program has some algorithm which says "this user is more likely to respond to something artistic, whereas this other user is likely to respond to something quirky and retro."

If so, I'm a little insulted that I didn't get the quirky and retro treatment.

What the hell. I never thought I would feel excited about anything Castlevania ever again and here I am. Starts out with Sotn backstory and then goes right into III and connects it all into fine story. The action is nice and juicy and character designs are reall nice. Trevor even has his dumb scar.
Im guessing they decided to scrap Grant completly? Wonder if theyll put him in as a nod somewhere
>>
>>93788310
In games it's implied that at some point Dracula and his castle became one with pure chaos. So he's kinda devil like. In Castlevania tho all devils from all religions and beliefs exist so, it's not a big deal really.
>>
>>93788681
>Im guessing they decided to scrap Grant completly?

Warren Ellis talked about this when he was writing the script ten years ago. Basically, he couldn't find a way, narratively, to get a pirate character involved in a story in a landlocked nation, but he intended to have him show up later in the plot.

Also, to change the spelling from "DaNasty" to "Denesti" because "DaNasty is a stupid fucking name."
>>
>>93788310
sounds like a perfect way to do it. in the game he was completly optional and easily missable anyways.
>>
>>93788718

Welcome to war in general. There's no 'point' in struggle or any conflict, the idea you are in conflict with will just return in new form, very likely within a couple generations. Look at Europe, every three or four generations someone tries to reform the fucking roman empire!

Still, we must fight, for the question you ask may so easily be applied to any other task of maintenance. Why bother eating food, you're just gunna die anyhow.

I was speaking of English translations, since I can't read Latin. That said, it's a fairly uncontroversial matter that some Jews in Judea wanted Jesus dead and went to the Romans to make it happen, but the idea of Jewish deicide was borne from some political aim, and it has been rejected by a majority of Christians. Incidentally, the last Pope (ya know, Pope Sheev) wrote a book that repudiates claims of Jewish deicide with a linguistic argument on Latin.

I'm surprised that wasn't the case. He says he traveled like a man, it's easy to have him blame Grant for not arriving in time either because of negligence during transport or that his crew attacked his ship. The former is an especially dickish thing Dracula would do.

Hahaha what is this shit? I'm enjoying the actual Castlevania aspects, but the hilarious
>Christians are bad and evil, they brought Dracula's curses!
and
>Jews (the Speakers) are good, kill the Christians to save them!
is fucking bullshit. Dracula has always been an evil fucker, and the church and God were the good guys. Trevor Belmont was commissioned by the fucking POPE to slay Dracula, for Christs sake.

This fucking shit is retarded and I would bet that you fedora-lord redd.it faggots just eat it up.

The fuck are you talking about, faggot? THIS show is the fanfiction. None of this bullshit has anything to do with the Castlevania story-I bet they stuck it in there to appeal to all of you millennial fedoras lol. Try playing some Castlevania games, troll.

From the wiki, moron:

>After receiving no word from Wallachia for some time, the Pope turned to the Belmont family as a last resort. Trevor Belmont stepped forward to end the oppression of Wallachia.[5] He was a descendant of Leon Belmont, and was feared by the people because of his powers. Therefore, the Belmont family lived outside of society

The 'speakers' in the show are literally Jews, like, actually. Rabbinic Jews, old school. The 'Belmonts are outcasts' thing is pretty much accurate, but the rest is muh quirky anime faggotry.

The show is enjoyable enough and I applaud them for having some hilarious dialogue and situations realistic to the period, but their anti-Christian agenda is hilariously obvious. Open your eyes to the obvious, moronic children. In the Castlevania lore, the orthodox church were the good guys, but you can't have that in our progressive Christian-hating Muslim and Jew-worshipping "modern" society!

I'm not even Christian and it bugs the shit out of me because it's simply not canon and follows the lefts cancerous agenda.

>>
>>93797863
Thanks for the measured answer. I'll admit I'm an asshole and am only 2 episodes in, but it became pretty hilarious enough to point out. I'm glad to hear the last 2 eps balance it out a bit better.

>>93797717
Aw hell naw - Gypsies were Romanian thieves and mystics. Jews were wandering tribes with strict religious observances that only recorded their history orally for thousands of years. Rabbinic Jews still do today as tradition. They are so Jews my dude.
>>
>>93798163
I am not seeing anything about nomadic Jewish tribes in the 15th century?
>>
>>93796197
I felt that the show did a decent job of pointing the finger toward the Church more than the faith, especially with the demon's banter with the archbishop. I wish the good priest had more screentime to help balance things out though.

That was the point where I almost turned it off. Remember that part in the game where Belmont was killing all the evil priests?

>>
Why was this so devoid of female sexuality? I'm not expecting there to be tits jiggling around like an anime but all the women literally had big cloaks on. Yes I know Sypha looked like that in the game. But it is just so obvious that they avoided any sexual portrayal of women because people would complain that its sexist. Are we really at a point where showing a shirtless femboy is safer than showing female bodies?

It belongs on /co/ because it's a western production

But honestly, the way animation is becoming mainstream in the west and considering how much higher the quality is, I wouldn't be surprised if we before long will need to redefine what is considered anime. Anime is after all just japanese for animation, domestic and foreign.

I personally consider Castlevania to be the only real challenger to Made in Abyss for the AOTS-title. Japs seriously need to step up their fucking game. They're litterally getting last samurai'd out of animation.

We've only gotten 4 episodes. But of the action in particular at the very least, I have to say that I am very much so pleasantly surprised.

I like the wide array of moves and abilities that they incorporate into the design of the scenes. Like Trevor actually appears to use the full range of abilities that his character was supposed to have, whip, sword, and sub weapons included. They didn't simply reduce him to just whip, or worse yet, just sword. And they didn't ignore clever use of sub weapons and stuff and actually has him use them in tandem with everything else.
Likewise Alucard actually moves and abilities straight from the games. They didn't just do some twilight vampire crap.

It's much better than I dared to anticipate. It's great really. And not only does it do the above. It does it relatively cleverly too. Like the whip usage in video related. Hopefully they keep it up.
>>

>>
>>93803298
It WOULD be too repetitive. I can't imagine them adapting much more, maybe Rondo and then SotN but that's it. It works for games but story-telling wise, are only so many ways you can have someone go through a creepy castle and fight Dracula.
>>
>>93803120
Curse of Darkness maybe, since Trevor appears in that one. They could also get Crispin Freeman to reprise his role.
>>
>>93803298
yeah and each time it's just dracula as final boss antagonist or a form of him. i can see how it would get old. it would be neat if they all teamed up
>>
>>93803355
They could do Aria, if only for the "you are Dracula" twist. And maybe Order of Ecclesia for the message that it's not just the Belmont's that can save the world from Dracula.
>>
>>93803355
>>93803482
Or they could, you know, write a season about Julius Belmont and the unseen 1999 Demon Castle War.

And that would still be, you know, about people going into a creepy castle and fighting Dracula.
>>
>>93803553
>Or they could, you know, write a season about Julius Belmont and the unseen 1999 Demon Castle War.
You know there is a reason that never became a game: because they were sure they could never do it properly justice.
>>
>>93803298
Gonna have to agree with >>93803355. Structure of the games and their stories have always centered around trying to kill off Dracula through-out time. Only reason why it worked in the games is because slowly give little bits of lore that flesh out the universe further all the while focusing on making the games fun.

You should play them in order. I mean, it's not required. But it's a good way to play them.
I love OoE too, but it was released last. Playing it first would be awkward.

Of course. If you were to play Dawn of Sorrow, which you really should because the game is amazing. You'd need to start with Aria of Sorrow. Even though it's a GBA game. So really. Start with Aria and then play the games chronologically from there. The games hold up either way so I'd say it's more than worth it.

>he couldn't find a way, narratively, to get a pirate character involved in a story in a landlocked nation

Then don't make him a pirate! It's an adaptation; people would forgive you for changing some things for the sake of making sense from a narrative standpoint so long as it remains faithful to the source material.

Heck, since they seem to be taking bits of lore from other Dracula media, as well as the historical Dracula, and the fact that Grant's last name is purported to be a nod to the Danesti family, just make Grant into a deposed noble forced to turn to banditry, who has a bone to pick with Dracula. In the original games, it was Grant who said that Dracula killed his family, and perhaps you could make this true...

OR

Perhaps his family was destroyed by others, but he blames Dracula for the death of his family. Why not, right? The Draculesti and Danesti families share a common ancestor, and villagers who hate the Dark Lord would likely target the Danesti family simply because of their relation to the Dark Lord, no matter how distant.

Either way, Grant's story becomes much more interesting, and you can take it further by drawing parallels between him and Trevor; both are the last sons of once great families, hated by the people of Wallachia for similar reasons. Make him a nastier Trevor, so that he can see what he could become, and be disgusted by it. Have Grant see that for all the shit flung his way, Trevor persevered, and that inspires Grant to be better.

They both see themselves, and what they could have been in one another, and for different reasons, inspires them to become better people.

BAM, now Grant becomes a compelling character.

2) It's a complete action show, and an action horror at that. Most action cartoons coming out nowadays are either mediocre action comedies, or toyetic/tie-in shows.
3) Some people may still be feeling burned after Samurai Jack's rather divisive final season. So seeing another action show aimed at adults gives them a small amount of hope
4) It's an adaptation of a game series that was thought dead and buried at this point.
5) Crossboarders from /a/ who don't really like what recent anime seasons have to offer see this as a fresh alternative

Pontius Pilate had a fucking country to run, and it was calling for Jesus blood. If he didn't deliver, there'd be riots, and that would land his head on Caesar's plate.

He tried to reason with them, giving them the option to release Barabbas, a fucking terrible criminal, or Jesus, who did nothing, at best just riled up the priests, and they chose Barabbas. So he washed his hands of his blood and had him crucified.

it's understood that the romans are just bystanders in the crucifixion, they didn't condemn jesus, the jews did.

it's not like Crucifixion was even anything special. Crucifixion was a very common form of execution.

this is bait, i think, but maybe you couldve picked up that the finger was being pinted at the establishment, not the faith. this is the fucking 1400's. This is not too far along after the western schism. When there were TWO fucking popes. And Crusades were being used as political tools

the Roman Catholic Church had a lot of bent shit going on at the time.

if nothing else, it's fairly accurate. The Bishop wanted the Arch Bishop's seat, and believed his own koolaid about spreading God's will, when he was just serving his own fucking will.

The demon lays it all out pretty honestly really.

he was not a true man of God, and thus had no actual power to strike fear into demons. Crosses and water are only as powerful as the faith of the man wielding them.

Which is why later on in that same episode, we had Trevor call upon an actual, PROPER priest, to consecrate holy water
>>
>>93806296
Weren't the plot in subsequent games more or less "Someone that isn't Dracula summoned his castle and mucking shit up in his name" though? In those games, he's usually dead until he's ressurrected for the climax, so he KINDA abides by Lisa's last wishes, but it doesn't stop him from being a prick.

I liked that they actually accurately portrayed a whip as a weapon capable of doing more than just smacking foes. In reality, a whip is a cutting weapon, not a bludgeoning weapon. when you crack a whip, you are literally breaking the sound barrier, and that cracking of the sound barrier can cut like a knife.

such as when he literally cut that dude's finger off.

he also uses it to grapple things.

I liked how they used the whip.

well thats the thing, why's he coming back and even bothering with humans if he regretted it in Symphony?

Aria, following upon Symphony's "creature of chaos" thing, basically established that Dracula derives his power from the flow of evil chaotic energy in the castle. But it's gotten to the point where Dracula himself is basically no longer the master of the castle, but part of it. he is trapped by it. So when some acolyte summons Castle Dracula from the ruins, and resurrects Dracula, he has no choice but to assume his role as Dracula, master of the castle, evil lord blah blah all that.

Which was why his reincarnation as Soma was such a big deal, and when he beat Graham, all the evil energy began to flow to it's rightful master, and threatened to make him evil again.

Destroying the castle at it's very core was supposed to permanently sever the connection between Dracula and his castle's influence, thus freeing him from his eternal cycle of rebirth and shit.

I've also heard the theory that whenever his resurrection is halfassed, and not part of his 100 year cycle, he loses the proper memory of his previous incarnation or something like that. Which would mean he doesnt remember lisa's last words spoken by Alucard.

But I dont know where that theory came from

Wait scratch that. 72 episodes and 1 prequel movie in total covering 4 generations.

The prequel movie will be the first Belmont, Leon, who witnessed his best friend become Dracula and swore the oath that his descendants would never stop fighting against Dracula.

The second season after this one is debatable on who should be the Belmont lead. I'm partial to Juste Belmont, who was considered extraordinary even among the Belmont clan due to being canonically the most powerful magic user in the family. He also didn't technically fight Dracula but a specific incarnation of him that was just as powerful, so it could be a nice change of pace. I'd also be fine with Juste's son Richter since he was given the title of the strongest of the Belmonts and also got possessed and turned evil for awhile and unwillingly did some fucked up shit which could be interesting.

The final season should be Julius Belmont, who finally killed Dracula permanently in 1999. It always bothered me that we never actually saw this since Julius never had his own game. Instead Julius is a side character in the newer games and it's mentioned he was the one who was smart enough to figure out how to finally kill Dracula.

Simon is the one everyone knows, like "pacman" or "Sonic" he's the posterchild of the original series, much like pretty Alucard is the posterchild of the post-PS1 series

This. It's exactly why it's never going to happen. His story is way too boring. Juste and Richter had a lot of conflict in their stories that could be interesting. But I'm not dead set on them. I just think Simon is never going to happen so it's not even worth considering.

I'd really love to see what the fuck happened in 1999 though. Considering there's hardly any info on it they could pretty much do whatever they wanted with that story. We just know that Yoko Belnades and Alucard were with him when he did it. It could actually be a nice way to close the overall series, with the Belmont hero, the Belnades love interest , and Alucard trio just like the first season.

He believes the audience is made of people that played the games. He doesn't understand why Trevor and Simon are attractive for a western audience and why Hollywood was always inclined to use them.

At the end of the day Simon is a extremely traditional western hero that is easy to sell. Alucard and the guys that either have a problem with the whip or have a jealous best friend that is controlled blah blah blah are not traditional, but a literal cliche in anime. Alucard problem is even worst he is just Luke Skywalker.

There's literally no story to tell...

They're targeting video game fans and people who watch cartoons. They'll have no problems doing the later more popular characters. If they were going to do Simon they would have done it for this first season. Since they haven't it's not going to happen.

Why are you still pretending simon quest isn't a story? Or that simon was even more rejected than Trevor?

Look I get it, you want your weeb stuff, but sadly you have to wait. Simon is the face of castlevania, that's why no one ask for alucard in Smash Brothers, as someone already said he is like sonic or Pac-Man, when people think of castlevania they think whips and Simon's theme.

Neat idea. Grant was arguably one of the more forgettable characters of Castlevania III and the franchise as a whole, so reinventing the guy seems like a logical choice.

From what I've played of the series, Dracula's motivation seems to go
"I'M GONNA FUCKING KILL ALL OF HUMANITY"
>---Time--->
"Why is this taking so long, just fucking die humans, I want a break"
>---People start summoning him-->
"...Really? Are you goddamn serious? Well, if you want me to rampage. ...You know I'm gonna kill you too right? Alright, just making sure"
>---JULIUS DOES HIS THING--->
"Where did this castle come from? Dark Lord who? My name is Soma Cruz, not Dracula, why won't all these cultist leave me alone? SHUT UP YOU STUPID CASTLE I'M NOT GOING TO GO ON A CRAZED KILLING SPREE, FUCK IT, I'M GONNA KILL A CASTLE"

The impression I got was that as the games went on, Dracula just plain got burnt out on all his anger and mostly just kept going for lack of anything better to do after realizing not only was it pretty much impossible for him to win, but humans were actually starting to summon him for shits and giggles or by just causing enough chaos on their own to summon him accidentally multiple times per century much to his increasing disgust

Honestly wouldn't surprise me if some of the variable difficulty across the games was due to Dracula half assing some of his fights just to be done with things and as >>93806997 noted, he did not seem to be fully in control of the castle towards the end, though I took it more as him letting it go on autopilot

Though I think the Soma Cruz instance was the only time he lost his memory, there were some times when he slowly took over someone's body and didn't have full access to his mind/memory until it finished though

Soundtrack was horrendous. Sound mixing in general was bad. Episode 2 was bad. Really hamfisted dialogue at times. Pub stuff went on too long. Lackluster ending. Bland monster designs.

That being said I really enjoyed it. It doesn't surprise me to see such a negative reaction on /co/, you people hated Shin Godzilla.
>>
>>93807958
Problem is Rondo has quite a bit of plot in its story as well. The ending even touches upon the thems of mankind being its own greatest enemy and how humanity's own nature is what allows Dracula to resurrect. Not to mention you'll have to introduce Maria and Shaft as well.

Best way to do the Dracula X Chronicles is to do what they're doing here. Release the first arc as a four-episode mini movie (Rondo of Blood), then the rest in 8-10 episodes (SotN).

I mean I agree that it's difficult to tip that fedora for real with a universe where Heaven and Hell are real and have tangible influence.
But at the same time that background priest character that showed up for 5 seconds seemed like a pretty reluctant and almost begrudging acknowledgement that holy powers of God and the Church (in the hands of a legit priest) work in the Castlevania universe.

They would have to age up Yoko then, since Julius was a late teen-early 20's man at that time while Yoko was a kid. Or at least, I think she was? She seems a lot younger than Julius in AoS/DoS but maybe she just looks good for her age.

But no one cares about any of the "barbarian" protagonists except Simon, and only because he's literally the very first protagonist of the series. Kind of like how people only give a shit about Marth because he's the very first Fire Emblem hero, since he's honestly really bland otherwise.
Christopher and John are literal whos to most people, and Trevor is going to be well-known thanks to this series but he looks nothing like his original concept art now.

Annette, Maria, and the other two girls no one gives a shit about were captured as bait to lure Richter to Drac's Castle. Dracula was VERY adamant about getting rid of Richter, so he had his village attacked, when it turned out he wasn't there he just took his woman and cousin (Maria was likely captured so she wouldn't interfere as well).

>Grant being a minor character at best
The show seems to want to focus on the trio of Sypha, Alucard and Trevor, a quartet would probably mess that up a bit. Considering they've admitted to wanting to include wall chicken I'm p sure Grant will at least be a minor character at some point. I'll miss him but I can understand why he'd be omitted when in terms of animation anything unique he can do could just as easily be done by Trevor.

>The whole evil church stuff
It wasn't a BIG thing in the game but it was most definitely A thing, Lisa's burning has priests in attendance in SotN and the Belmonts being excommunicated was a part of C3 and LoO as well IIRC. It's played up but it also helps to establish some dynamics and make Dracula and Alucard a bit less one dimensional.
It'll probably return to establish some sympathy for Dracula near the finale from Trevor (both feeling betrayed by the church) and for what it's worth the EVIL CHURCH stuff begins and ends with the institution being corrupt rather than religion itself being evil.
Holy water still needed a proper priest and the Demon in the church scene pretty much confirms God exists and opposes them.
>>

The church has never been good in Castlevania. At best its been a backer of the good, and only in the last games of the series featuring Soma Cruz.

The best Castlevania literally begins in a burning church starring the guy the church gave shit to.
>>
>>93799556
The Belmonts are literally the good men of faith, you ass.

As well as Alucard. Shit, by Aria Alucard literally works for the church.
>>
>>93815069
The whole series can be summed up as
>Man gets angry at god because his wife died, becomes second most powerful being to him. Accidently creates a thermal exhaust port by absorbing a vampire who a whip automatically defeats
>God felt bad for him so he gave him his wife back via reincarnation
>Humans killed wife 2.0
>Man tries to kill all humans, whip and son kick his ass for 700 years
>God reincarnates him and wife, they kick his evil self's ass and are finally happy
>>
>>93779728
i was just wondering how anyone could enjoy this horrible cesspit of a show.

so imagine my surprise when half the people here think this is some kind of masterpiece.

the art is barely acceptable, the writing is bland, cliche, and horrible. and half the voice acting sounds either forced or devoid of emotion.

the only thing they can animate well is gore. the only thing they can write well is goat fucking rednecks.

this might be good if your a 14 year old shut in who faps to guro and has a hate boner for christfags. but any objective person will recognize this for the shit it is.

Except it's not really extreme enough to justify it. Even in some of the more "serious" Castlevania games there was absurd shit like skeletons on motorcycles that this show suffers for lacking in. If you can't write something seriously good it should at least be fun; this show though, for the most part, is words and dark interiors.

The Metroidvanias are considered compared to actual Metroid games to be a bit shallow design wise, but they're still extremely enjoyable games and are exemplary in the amount of content they provide.

SotN is considered one of the best overall next to Aria and Order of Ecclesia so it's a good starting point I'd say, especially since OoE is pretty expensive online and Aria being a GBA game might be a bit frustrating to get into for some people used to newer games.

agree strongly, i'm a huge castlevania fan who owns and has completed at least 15 of the games and i have watched and read tons of vampire fiction but this was so horrifically written and directed it was embarrassing... badly needs to be put in the hands of someone better than ellis

i'm all for a dark and gritty style but this tried much too hard with the excessive gore and the liberalized portrayal of christianity and wtf was with the ambient techno score

dracula has no character beyond being mad that lisa dies either
