Does anyone else on /co/ have trouble getting into anything with "modern", glossy artwork?
I can't stand the way most comics are currently drawn. I really enjoy comics from the 70s and 80s, as well as earlier. Even Madame Xanadu (pic related) from 2007 has a good hand-penciled vibe. But most of the comics posted here and all of the current series I see have this art style that looks glossy, computer animated, and almost like a magazine. It takes away from my enjoyment heavily.
Does anyone else feel this way?

I find modern artwork to be overly detailed and over shaded. It's just tacky.

Can't stand it at all
only some is bad
I'm willing to be that most of what you're talking about comes down entirely to the coloring, rather than how the comics are drawn, i.e. penciled and inked. Your OP picture is a good example, pencil and inks-wise it's not that different from what you see now but the coloring isn't as mucked up.

Yeah, I like to call it the "OP Is A Ginormous Faggot" Effect.
