I'm not really defending it, but it's so fucking obvious that a majority of anons self inserted as the "alpha" male just so they can get with the most attractive character, in this case, Lucy. Like it's no wonder everyone here hates PauloxDaisy, as badly hamfisted as it is, because they don't want "themselves" (When its really Paulo), to be paired with a fat fuck.

I like Lucy but I feel like Taeshi doesn't know (or maybe doesn't care since Lucy is apparently based on her) about how draining and frustrating it can be when you've got a mentally ill friend, and I've been on both sides of that situation.

I'm just gonna say if someone who was cuddling with me not even ten minutes ago and was suddenly yelling at me and calling me an idiot for having feelings for them I'd be scared and at the very least angry. It's not fun watching someone you care about switch moods like that.

It's like she doesn't want Paulo and Lucy's development to have the same sort of effort she's obviously going to push towards Lucy and Mike's inevitable hooking up. So the way I see it (and this is with trying to make heads or tails out of shitty writing) is this: Lucy is pissed at Mike for toying with her heart and for abandoning her. We don't know what happened to her when she was gone. We don't know if any of her friends even tried to find a way to talk to her. We know they went to her house to look for her and her pets kind of chased Mike away...but does Lucy know any of that? Did her family tell her that her friends were worried about her? We don't know but I'm willing to bet that Lucy was waiting for Mike to try to reach out to her but he didn't, did he? The only person who mattered to her and claimed to be her only friend never tried to write or call her. Yet he has no problems being glued to his phone to text his girlfriend - the girl who is better and more important.

That's why I think Lucy went on and on about how it's always about what Sandy wants when she went off on Mike. She wanted to make sure he knew how much it hurt that he just let her go when Lucy disappeared but struggles to let go of Sandy when she left years ago.

And now she wants to get over him. She wants to accept that she'll never have what he and Sandy have and the best way to get over him is for him to not be around her to stir old feelings.

In a literal sense. He was quite clear that he wanted to be with Sandy. However, to Lucy, she seemed to think it would be a matter of time before he'd eventually give her a chance. After all, they were good friends but then he destroyed her fantasy with the parasite speech. He broke her heart not just on a romantic level but also as a friend. And then after she was hurt and alone he tried to come back and wanted a fresh start which would have ultimately put Lucy back in the same spot she was in. Then he abandoned her again when she disappeared at least to her knowledge.

I'm not defending her cunty actions but it'd be nice to know what actually happened to her while she was gone because it would probably help us better understand her.

What the heck has happened to the writing this chapter? The tonal shifts and character motivations are whipping back and forth from page to page, without any consistency at all. The last chapter is a masterclass in writing by comparison (like how Daisy made up in part with Paulo; the characters' emotions and feelings actually progressed logically from page to page).

He sinks into depression while his girlfriend ignores him and his circle of friends collapse. Lucy gets angry because despite her efforts not to fuck everything up again, everything gets fucked up again. Eventually they're forced into conversation, and she blows up on him. No reaction from Mike. Once she's done he just sighs, slowly and deliberately explain to her why she's a mental case and needs to stop, and then just walks off to go to class or something.

It wouldn't make sense if he got angry at her again because she has the upper hand when he's being emotional. He got angry about her mentioning Sandy and lost any chance at that conversation going anywhere. It'd be better if he was just apathetic and resigned. Lucy might finally start trying to be rational if she sees that Mike of all people has just given up on life.
