You don't need to read all of that, obviously, but Batman has been in the top 3 most popular characters for like 60 years, so he's had a shit ton of stories. Just read a few and see if you like them.

The ones that the other anons have listed: Year One, TDKR, TKJ, TLH are usually listed as "the best of the best" but I'd say anything on that list is solidly worth your time.

There were a number of reasons why they were shooting from the drains, not least of which was that they controlled the sewers
