Fact: Black people love shit like Dragonball and Naruto. They are unashamedly huge fans of action/fantasy stuff. Even if this is true, they are a HUGE untapped market that must be explored.

Yes, comics are a niche medium that will never expand beyond that. I'm not even saying that as a mean criticism to the industry or the consumers who buy comics; I'm just saying that as a basic fact. The characters only mainstream success is when they are interpreted in other mediums that aren't comics like film, television or video-games.

There could be many reasons why comics aren't mainstream but my guess is that the general public doesn't really understand the comic industry beyond the big two capeshit and the mainstream, while are easily manipulated and pandered to in there own ways, are less likely to fall for the constant continuity, crossovers, events, reboots, character re imaginings and all that bullshit that some comic fans are just now getting tired of.
