So when does this get axed?

Why should it? Great writer. Original idea. Cool character interactions. Regardless still might get changed after legacy, or axed.

Probably issue 12. #10 is the start of a new arc and the first trade was 6 issues, so they'd likely want the second trade to be 6 issues to. Cannonball Run will probably be a 3 issue arc, or just a 2 issue arc with the last issue being a wrap-up/epilogue/set-up for whatever Ewing's next book is.

Because it doesn't sell particularly well and Ewing's better book, Ultimates^2, got cancelled at #10 despite the fact that Ultimates^2 sells higher than USAvengers.

Fair point.
I kind of like it and hope it will stay around but you make a valid case. I think it might be a bit too 'strange' and hard to follow like Ultimates (in a different way) for the average fan as well.
Is it another book that will get cancelled but sells better than Captain Marvel which never gets cancelled?

When Secret Empire ends? Is it on the list of future titles? If not, there you have it.

Captain Marvel gets cancelled constantly. They just keep re-launching it because they're obligated to have a Captain Marvel comic at all times thanks to the upcoming movie.

Yes, it has a new arc starting at #10 as part of Legacy.

Then I give it 12 issues after that. Maybe ending at 24. If it's not selling 20k, MCU synergy, or a diversity title then it won't last long.
But Marvel needs to keep this number of titles going for a while before dropping it and replacing another. If anything, less titles might mean more will buy it.

on the other hand I imagine there's a bunch of internal politics at Marvel right now that necessitate Ultimates getting canned, while it's entirely possible for USAvengers to keep going since it's most important character is Squirrel Girl, which means it doesn't really face too much danger from Marvel's shifting landscape
