They are both good characters. I feel as if Cyborg being on anything other than the Titans is a bit of nostalgia and 'NoT mUh CyBoRg' coming through. I feel as the placement had to do with including a black character, which, is whatever, as opposed to a character who 'graduated' to the team. Milestone owns those characters and DC don't like to pay people for using these characters when they don't have to. Same reason why Black Lightning doesn't have a comic or a cartoon

Either way, I think Hollywood should try a Justice Society movie sometime, it would probably be better. The characters are more actor-friendly and it's a bit more lighthearted. Also, they fuck things up slightly less if it takes place in a time period other than now.

John Stewart and Static are the biggest rivals to his outside popularity. Well, for a few more months that is.

I have no problem with Cyborg being in the Justice League. But I do have a problem with severing his ties with the Titans.

At the very least, they could've done something like... he's a founding member of the JL, but at first he's treated like a junior member or whatever... then Robin (Nightwing) forms the Teen Titans, and like... Batman could assign Cyborg with the task of "watching over them" or something, which basically translates into Cyborg joining the Titans as one of their core members, then eventually, when Robin becomes Nightwing and stuff, Cyborg can graduate into being a full member of the Justice League on the same level as the others.

The answer is that after the 2011 justice league movie failed, and that had John as the green lantern some wb executive that happened to be consultant too and a famous high ranking writer at DC wanted to avoid Hal Jordan being replaced in name of diversity after the movie died, Johns in his own words pitched cyborg and was proud of making him a league member. He was the one that convinced wb that Cyborg could hold his own movie, it turns out including cyborg was a big fuck up and green lantern hasn't been confirmed yet.

Cyborg has been the token black for decades.

Steel is derivative of Superman so can't stand alone as a character. Black Lightning has rights issues that take him out of some media. There is no reason Vixen or Mr.Terrific couldn't be the token black though, and Vixen has actually earned it. They could also just make MM black in his human form and leave it at that.
