The Church often gave justifications for war. 'Jus bellum iustum'. I don't know what that has to do with the bollocks about priests being forbidden from shedding blood, they weren't forbidden from it, and bishops and cardinals often formed the leadership of many armies.

The Church often had periods of great corruption, and they were absolutely brutal in putting down heretical movements that threatened their power structure and claim to being the representative of God on earth, but they weren't anti-science and had provided funding for many scientists who were often also clerics, as well as promoting the earliest university systems.

There's a lot to drag the Church over the coals for, its treatment of science isn't one of them.

It feels very much like a labor of love, not just some cheap attempt at cashing in on the franchise. For me it started with SotN, but I know other people have been pining for a respectful representation of the story for longer than that. The classic Iga games did a great job of hinting at more lore than just what was happening on screen, and I think Netflix managed to capture that and translate it into the show. It's a lot better honestly than it has any right to be. I'm very pleasantly surprised.

I wouldn't hold my breath for Simon. Dracula's Curse is a more natural story to tell since you have an actual cast to work with and it is the first time a Belmont kills Dracula canonically. With Simon it's just going to be retreading old ground with much less to work with.

I've been Castlevania fan since I was a kid and the Simon fucking Belmont episode from Captain N was more entertaining than this.

Overall, the only problem with this high-quality stuff is that they barely managed to make 4 episodes before they ran out of time and money again and had to release it. 1. Dub VAs are dogshit. Very rarely do good VAs work of anime dubs, for obvious reasons - Japanese studios are already underfunded, so the fucking side project is western dubbing pays peanuts compared to work you'd get with a western cartoon.

2. Due to the immense difference in how moonspeak and Latin based languages are structured, English dubs of Japanese dialogue never sound natural or good.

3. Professional dubs often fuck with the dialogue and mess around with things like character motivation or insert popular political shit, especially these days.
