How low do sales have to be in order for Marvel to cancel a book?
>>93717757
It varies depending on whether it's a normal comic, a problematic comic, or a progressive comic

It depends on the book. If it has zero waifus and minimal trade sales then like 20k. Enough waifus for the occasional waifubait variant and some success at trades can get to 15k. Top shelf waifu bait or very solid trade sales and you drop to 10kish. Make a deal with Scholastic and you can drop below that because who even gives a shit at that point.

If sales are low they may try to just restart a series.
To cancel a character though they have to be really low, like the last Ghost Rider low.

Let's be serious for a second. With various exceptions, a canceling point it varies based on the budget.
Like movies, comics have a budget. It's needed to pay writer, artist, cover artist, inker, editor, letterer, colorist etc. Big books that are meant to be big sellers, like Avengers or Batman, have higher budgets, to pay for big writers and A-list artists. Small books have smaller ones.
Ms. Marvel success, if you listen to Wilson, is that it was a small book nobody excepted to work, thus little was spent on it, but sold enough to pay back everything on a monthly dose and have a hefty reward.

Snark aside, this.
Around15,000 issues in the direct market is normally the minimum level but if a book does well in secondary market, if it is seen as prestigious or if it is the pet project of a creatator with sufficient pull then numbers can drop much lower.

UM, Sweetie you are never canceling my book!
We will all be brown one day, brown will rule!!!!

UM, Sweetie even Obama thinks my book is the bomb!

It's really sad that this is the case. A book is more likely to last if it's "important" in how it's progressive. The most important thing is MCU synergy.
And if there's no movie rights then the comic could be the best selling comic (not named Spider-Man) is likely to be cancelled.
Want to be a long term writer at Marvel? Get put on the Captain Marvel comic. You'll just have to start over again and again but you're there for life.

SJW comics: under 1000
Other comics: under 10000

Kamala of Peace

depends on the race and gender of the protagonist
Ms Marvel, Captain Marvel, Squirrel Girl and the like will just relaunched forever instead of cancelled.

> one day we will all be brown.
She's right. Whites are reproducing at an alarmingly low rate and most men prefer a qt brown chick over a generic blonde. It'll be over by 2030 at the minimum.
>>93717757
Below 20,000.
If it's a book they're trying to push then it'll just get relaunched.
If it's a book Alonso personally likes it will be allowed to finish its run even it drops below 10,000.
Moon Girl and Champions are immune to sales numbers because they have Scholastic Book deals.

>It'll be over by 2030 at the minimum.
Good.
It really depends on how gratifying the response to the comic is, even if it's not from many people. Marvel's basically shown they care more about virtue-signaling than profits. They'll keep a comic running for years before cancelling so long as its MC is black, gay or a tranny.

This.

I think if Carol's sales hit 0 that means techincally Marvel won't be producing it anymore.
They'd probably still have a writer and an artist for it though.
