Probably around 2030 when all avenues are exhausted and they want a cash cow of DLC.

A lot of the older fans would be too old to care or dead and all the new consumers don't care about brand loyalty.

Even so by then the indie game creation should be fairly mainstream to the point 3 to 4 people could make a comprehensive mugen or better engine and just need sprites or more likely 3D models and if their quite they won't get slapped with a cease and desist order.
