Houston isn't a liberal shithole, unlike New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago, the other largest cities. Also, Whataburger, HEB, barbecue, Tex-Mex.

What really made Texas great, up until about the early 90s, was that most Texans were descended from a fairly small group of people who had lived here since the Civil War, so there was a strong pervasive sense of shared culture that almost approached camaraderie. This is totally gone now, but it still has one of the healthiest economies of any region in the world so it's a great place to live and make money.

Only the cities and college-towns here are havens of über-left-run-amok. Townie/Northern California is pretty nice. We actually have a recent push from the red-counties to have fairer representation laws, I'm very excited to see where it goes.
I'd leave this fucking state if everyone I've ever known didn't live here. It's one more thing after another in this place. My only consolation is the ass-ravaging being sown by big Donnie T.
