The game's don't really use the church as a major plot point. About the most I can think of is in Lament of Innocence and how Leon ends up leaving the church because they were too busy with the Crusades to do anything to help him.

There's also some scenes in Symphony of the Night I believe where you can get glimpses of when Alucard's mother was burned at the stake, but that's more of a backstory establishment.

The designs are pretty neat and the story seems to be rather faithful to the series.

It's not the characters being attractive. It's the show explicitly pushing bait scenes with attractive characters. OG voltron didn't have any of this stuff. There was no Yaoi bait or other similar bait for that matter. Same applies for a handful of action shows of the past. There is a huge fan base of people that are keeping and have kept things like Voltron, Korra, etc. alive due to diehard fanbases being in it for the gay porn, fanfiction, cosplay, etc. Actual kids aren't going out and buying toys or merchandise related to these shows in droves like they did in the 90s. I only have two real complaints. It seems written with the assumption you'd be watching one episode a week, so exposition is repeated too frequently (nowhere near as bad as most anime, but still disappointing.) And for a Castlevania adaptation, the music is really just genetic blockbuster filler. But overall, it's pretty good.

It's probably not something you can animate in a dignified manner, so they cut away and implied rather than showing the big villain get torn down so pathetically.

The show is..... "Good" A good start to something that could be great. but there is some obvious issues from it being made in to a series from a full length movie wrote over a decade ago, mostly pacing and lack of character development, the anti-church themes are over the top at times but the ending balances it out by showing it was mans own evil and not the Church almost hammering that point in that makes me thing Warren had someone else working on the scripts.

Overall I can't wait to see a full season wish it was sooner though.

Overall, I think they should have waited until all the episodes were ready before releasing it. As it is now, the story ends right as it's getting started, and we have sympathy for Dracula long before we see him do anything wrong. That first episode opener should probably come much later on in the story. Hell, that bit of information should probably be told in bits and pieces as very small flashbacks in front of the title credits, with the audience getting more and more sympathetic towards Dracula as the main team gets closer to killing him.
