Norman is the Spidey's top villain. Then Ock. Then interchangebly Sandman, Rhino, Vulture, Electro, Lizard, Scorpion, Shocker, Hobgoblin, Venom, Kraven, Mysterio. Then after them go interchangebly Enforcers, Tombstone, Hammerhead, Hydroman, Jackal, Carnage and Silvermane. Kingpin would also probably be up there if he hadn't been coopted by Daredevil.

So which is more likely for the next movie? Kraven or Mysterio? I feel like those are the biggest two that haven't been done yet.

I've always loved Vulture. He respesents an interest "age vs. youth" conflict Peter doesn't really have with his other enemies. Roger Stern's Vulture stories were awesome, and I loved O'Neill's Daredevil issue where he has a showdown with Toomes (and you realize that Vulture's actually a tough son of a bitch).

Scorpion seems to be the one they're going for, and he's another evil clone of the hero, so that's the formulaic pic. You could do Spidey getting arrogant until somebody who's he's physical superior comes along to knock him down and then he has to thing his way around the fight instead. Kraven's a bit of a hard sell, you can't do Last Hunt in his first movie, power wise he's low key unless they really beef him up and not that visually interesting unless they let him make lots and lots of deathtraps. Mysterio feels more like a B-plot villain for a movie like Shocker was unless they want to do something really trippy where Peter begins to lose track of what's reality and what's illusion. Maybe tie it into him losing control of his double life.

Maybe they'll go with something left-field like Hydroman where he's not too iconic so they can play around with the character and change him up, and power wise he's an interesting problem for Spidey to deal with. Sandman would be fun and he was barely in Spider-Man 3, I'd like to see him get his due and the MCU needs more non-tech based villains. Probably won't happen though.

My absolute dream would be a Spider Slayer-Scorpion movie where the actual main villain is just J. Jonah Jameson and the entire film is about his and Spidey's antagonistic relationship. Something that ends with this panel. If anything could tempt J.K. Simmons back to the role I think it would be that.

Kingpin was always a Spider-Man villain from his very introduction. He took over the New York crime scene in the wake of Frederick Foswell being outed as the Big Man. He had these long storylines throughout the 70s with his wife Vanessa and his rivalries with other crimelords like The Rose and Silvermane. He was a solid B-tier villain, he only hit the big time when Frank Miller made him a primary antagonist for Hornhead and slowly molded him as DD's absolute nemesis. He's been THE Daredevil villain ever since, they fit so well together.

Kingpin's problem as a Spider-Man villain is that he's a REALLY strong human fighting a guy who can bench-press cars. He's a master planner and criminal mastermind but the minute he actually fights Spidey it's totally one-sided. Daredevil fits the same street level niche and is a much closer physical match for him.
