Spider-Man 2 (2004)

>Early drafts featured Doctor Octopus and Black Cat as villains, with a brief appearance by the Lizard to set up SPIDER-MAN 3. Black Cat would've been a cat burglar who becomes involved with Peter while MJ is engaged to John Jameson and attempts to tempt Peter away from his responsabilities, were both her and the Lizard were ultimately written out to streamline the narrative.

He becomes becomes involved with Mary Jane, but spirals into insanity after becoming addicted to endorphins that are released into his system when he uses his mechanical arms, which end up fused to his spine in a fight with Spider-Man. He then becomes obsessed with capturing Spider-Man and using his spine fluid to cure himself.

>In early drafts, Peter is given a microchip by Octavius which supresses his powers, and uses it after Harry Osborn places a bounty on his head, turning the city against him. Peter is ultimately forced to remove it in order to regain his powers and stop Doctor Octopus.

>In early drafts, the symbiote would arrive on Earth in a space shuttle piloted by John Jameson, which would malfunction and nearly crash-land on Manhattan before Spider-Man intervenes, which is why Spider-Man is given the key to the city. The sequence was scrapped for being too expensive.

>In early drafts, the symbiote would drain Brock's life force due to prolongued exposure, reducing him to a charred skeleton, and attempt to bond with Peter again before Peter destroys it.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)

>Sony merged Marc Webb's ideas for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, featuring Electro and Rhino; and THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3, featuring the Green Goblin and Gwen Stacy's death, into one movie in order to build up to the Sinister Six and other spin-offs and compete with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

>Early drafts featured J. Jonah Jameson as the editor-in-chief of the Daily Bugle who believes Spider-Man is a menace, particularly after Spider-Man and Electro crash into his office while fighting in Times Square. Sam Elliot and John Slattery were approached for the role before the character was scrapped.

>In early drafts, Peter would've actually given his blood to Harry, but this was changed as it made Peter indirectly responsible for the creation of the Green Goblin.

>Early drafts featured a larger role for Felicia Hardy, who'd be Harry's girlfriend and accomplice; and a smaller role for Rhino, who'd be just a throaway villain. Due to Sony's meddling, Felicia was reduced to a tertiary character and Rhino's role was expanded so he could integrate the Sinister Six.

>In early drafts, Norman Osborn would've been preserved in suspended animation after his apparent death while OsCorp cloned a healthy younger body for him.

>In early drafts, Richard Parker would've been revealed to have survived the plane crash and reunite with Peter in the end.

>Alden Ehrenreich, Brady Corbet, Eddie Redmayne, Sam Claflin, Douglas Booth and Boyd Holbrook auditioned for Harry Osborn before Dane DeHaan was cast

>Sam Rockwell and Clive Owen auditioned for Tony Stark before Robert Downey Jr. was cast.

>Rachel McAdams was approached for Pepper Potts before Gwyneth Paltrow was cast.

>Early drafts featured the Mandarin as a corrupt Chinese businessman who led the 10 Rings and created the Crimson Dynamo armor to fight Iron Man, before Jon Favreau decided to build up to the character.

>Early drafts featured Obadiah Stane only as Stark's estranged mentor, and his descent into villainy would be explored over several movies.

Mads Mikkelsen, Joaquin Phoenix, Jared Leto, Jake Gyllenhall, Tom Hardy, Colin Farrell, Ethan Hawke, Jack Huston, Oscar Isaac, Keanu Reeves, Matthew McConaughey, Ewan McGregor and Justin Theroux were approached to play the role before filming was delayed to accomodate Cumberbatch's schedule.

>Ken Watanabe, Morgan Freeman and Bill Nighy were approached for the Ancient One before Tilda Swinton was cast.

>In early drafts, the Ancient One was a Asian man and Wong was not featured. When the Ancient One was made into a Celtic woman, Wong was added to the story as one of Strange's mentors.

>Early drafts revealed that Strange went through the loop thousands of times before Dormammu decided to accept his bargain, and that he remembers each and every time he died.

>Early cuts featured a subplot about Strange's sister, Donna, who falls into a river while they're playing together and drowns despite his attempts to save her, motivating Strange to study medicine. Lulu Wilson played Donna, but all of her scenes were cut.

>Early cuts featured more parallels between science and magic that were cut from the movie so magic would remain shrouded in mystery.

>Early cuts had a slightly darker tone that didn't ressonate very well with test-audiences. Dan Harmon was then hired to revise the script and more lighthearted beats were added in reshoots.

David Fincher volunteered to direct the movie, but Sony didn't like his approach and Marc Webb was hired instead.

In other words, Sony wanted a yes man instead of another actual filmmaker. That's why they clashed with Raimi.
>>
>>93689666
Fincher's pitch was pretty unconventional. He wanted the movie to be set immediately after Gwen Stacy's death and revolve around the grieving process of a superhero who failed to save the most important person in his life.

I don't think his movie would even have a villain.

>Cannon Pictures' SPIDER-MAN (1983)

DIRECTOR: Tobe Hopper.

WRITERS: Leslie Stevens.

THE PLOT

>ID badge photographer Peter Parker is exposed to radiation by a mad scientist and transformed into a monstrous "Spider-Man". Stevens didn't know anything about Spider-Man when he wrote the script and though he was "like the Wolfman". Stan Lee vehemently objected to the script, so Cannon started anew with writers more familiar with the character.
