This is literally the reason.

>In an excellent interview with IndieWire, Bob-Waksberg says that they had the majority of season 4 written before the 2016 election but in light of it some of season 4 and much of season 5 has the potential to be influenced by the election.

IMO, as someone who likes this show, this isn't sounding good at all.

Nobody said that it would definitely turn out bad. However, politics was never the forté/focus of the show, coupled with the reality of forced delays/re-writes, the concern regarding shifts in tone is justifiable. Bitch.
>>
>>93684636
>>93684611
>>93684449

the ONLY way this would turn out great is if they show Hollywoo losing their shit like Shia Labeuf.

also with Mrs PeanutButter being the mayor now he's gonna suffer through it all.
>>
>>93684320

Oh god no, why can't tv writers follow Matt and Trey's decision with Trump.
>>
Rewatched S3 and you just start caring less for the characters. We get it. BJ won't change, except now he's actually suicidal and even his closest friends knows they can't help and go on with their own lives.

Glad they stopped pushing any Diane Bojack angle though.

Princess Caroline finds love, but the truth is she's married to her job

The Todd safe space uber cab and introducing his female friend just for the whole asexuality appeal was cringy as hell

they stalked out Penny, and she played out like some victim even though nothing happened

a lot of things were mentioned in passing, but they never came to fruition. The Ana Skapicioa thing just kinda fizzled out, and Jill Pill led to that Hamster guy and they talked about "The Bojack Horseman Show," but we don't learn much except it was a failure
Goober with his heorin led to the whale strippers becoming uber drivers and they saved the day with Mr PB's spaghetti strainer shenanigans

Sarah Lynn died, but I didn't feel for it after the first fakeout.

>>
Did anyone actually read this >>93684320 article? It says season 4 is done being written and season 5 if confirmed, will have a POSSIBILITY for Trump jokes, which I'd think that BoJack would be above doing, aside from a single episode dedicated to it ala the Hank Hippopopolus/Bill Cosby episode.

>>93684808
The only things here are that the whole Mr PB and the spaghetti was a great thing. I think the real issue with Sarah Lynn is that because it happened in episode 11, we knew that it would end in her death. THe writers either have a good plan ahead, or really wrote themselves into a corner.

I think the question is, how many more seasons can this go on for with the same characters? Will BoJack follow Secretariat off the bridge with Suzy Side? I think even if that's what we get we won't see the characters live past BoJack's death.

I think the point of season three was to show how children change you, either how they couldn't change Diane, or how BoJack has been foreshadowed with redemption through becoming a father. Don't you think that they'll bring us to an ending where he, in a sense becomes the TV father he once was, and gets to relive his past glory in real life? Or take that idea and flip it by showing him how shit it really is?
>>
>>93684320
Wait there's going go have a 5th season?
I was under the impression season 4 would be a final conclusion and suicide.

You know what I mean? I’m not in the mood to poke fun at those kinds of people when there are real, real problems that we need to talk about.
The show's usually at its worst when it's just outright soapboxing.

To be fair I live in LA and it practically burned the fuck down when Hillary didn't get elected. You saw literal tears in peoples eyes at the post office, and a friend that worked on set said some actors didn't even show. Ignoring it while leaving your house for more than hour at at time ends in one inevitable shit fest of people patting themselves on the back for shitting on Trump and middle america together just wouldn't be right. I think it's less they were ready to eat Hillary's ass throughout the season and more they weren't prepared for the torrent of shit that now fills the streets.

It's also funny how most of his tweets in which he criticises something ends with "Sad!"
>>
>>93686962
He then, less than 24 hours later made another tweet in which he asked what the meaning behind covfefe was. Now that is funny
>>

putting the hopelessness of the situation aside, i really do wonder how the Hollywoo in Bojack's universe looks like now.

i bet the motherfuckers are still rioting.
>>
>>93685170
>or how BoJack has been foreshadowed with redemption through becoming a father
I think it's more likely that Season 4 will show that he can't actually be a father. It was more or less the point with Sarah Lynn's character.
>>
>>93683881
I started watching BoJack a few days back and just finished Season 1, as well as the Christmas Special. I like what I see so far! Does the series improve from this point onwards?

>>93689744
Season 2 only gets better. Season 3 had mixed reviews here on /co/, some didn't like it but I personally did.
Also, it can't go on forever and I hope they will give it a proper ending before it gets stale

>Watch show where half of the humor comes from mocking ridiculous people and a ridiculous society.
>B-but you can't make fun of my preferred ridiculous person!
If this were any other show I would agree with you but Bojack Horseman is all about that shit.

>>93686911
What LA do you live in? People were pissed but I think the reaction has been a bit overblown.
>>
>>93689919
Those two episodes were great though?
>>
>>93689952
It's OK, anon; we're all wrong sometimes!
>>
>>93689926
Bojack is all about Bojack, the mocking ridiculous people element is window dressing to fill out the rest of the run time. Not only that but it quite definitively targets Hollywood celebrity culture, not federal politics. Delaying an entire season because of MUH DRUMPSHF is excessive and goes against the thrust of the last three seasons.
>>
>>93689744
I personally think the show gets better with every season. For some reason I see season 3 getting a lot of negativity on the sub, but if you like where the show went toward the end of season 1, you'll like season 2. If you like season 2, you'll like season 3.

This. It has Hollywoo and by extension all entertainment-industry celebrity as its primary target of satire. Lots of time spent on politics would be weird.

Plus what people are really worried about is not decent satire but yet more hysterical hand-wringing.

>Trump is really hard to parody
>hard to parody
>>
>>93698270
Because he's already pretty much a parody of himself.
>>
>>93698404
Exactly. His retarded antics are such low hanging fruit that it's not even fun anymore. The jokes got stale even during the election.
Same reason we don't make fun of bronies anymore. The target is too easy and everyone has already done it.
>>
>>93697643
Considering that we don't see him in season 3, I'm not holding out for a season 4 appearance. Feels bad man.
>>
>>93698480
And that is the reason why the writers of Bojack should not go that way. South Park did and it didn't work.

>>93697643
I hope it turns out he is actually a deformed adult human underneath. If you look closely in season 2 at his son you'll notice that their freckles are in different places
>>
>>93698480
They're not even going after Trump for the right things.

They're either just making shit up or overreacting to shit like TWO SCOOPS.

Season 2 ruined Vincent Adultman as a character, the ambiguity of his adulthood was what made it so funny and they fucking wasted it on a Little Rascals episode. Or they could have at least gone the other way and revealed he was an immature yet horribly disfigure man in a trench coat. ANYTHING but what we got would have been better.
>>
>>93684678
This is the only option I'll find acceptable. If they rewrote S4 just to shove in a bunch of liberal whining about the election I'll just drop the show. Their pet liberal writer is getting out of hand with the preachyness as evidenced by S3.

>>93684808
S3 really felt like a step down from S2 in terms of quality. The majority of S2 I've seen at least a couple dozen times, and I still love it. I've seen 2-3 episodes of S3 more than once, and I really don't have any desire to watch it much. They had no idea what the hell to do with Todd, so suddenly Asexual without actually understanding asexuality. They make the effort of splitting Bojack from PC, with no real point since she's still in the show and a part of his life. They took the massive fucking event from S2 and effectively wiped it out of existence with the most nonsense bullshit cop-out I've seen since the ending of the US version of Life on Mars. And my GOD the entire thing with Jill Pill turned out to be a big fat nothing. Re-watching the entire show, it almost feels like they got a different writing team for S3, or fired some of their writers before the season started.
>>
>>93689841
it's a general unwritten rule that you don't fuck your friends children, whether they initiated it or not.
>>
>>93694432
I'll agree with you on that. Everything that day was fucking surreal. It's like one of those episodes of a TV show where it's all a dream or you walked into an alternative dimension. Everyone was acting weird, and the whole city had this dead tone. It was like we warped reality or some shit. Scared me a bit.
>>
>>93698737
It was never ambiguous. Not at all. It was never meant to be.

The joke was that Bojack was the only one immature enough to recognize another child, while everyone else around him was so busy dressing themselves up and pretending to be adults that they just saw Vincent as another adult.
>>
>>93700438
>it was never ambiguous

then it was never funny either.
>>
>>93700512
It wasn't funny, no. The joke wasn't supposed to be laugh out loud funny, it was supposed to be dark amusement.

I mean the core joke has been done so many times before, why do you expect it to be funny?

What the fuck are you guys talking about, it has always been ambiguous and funny, unless you don't like such a dry joke. Piss off with that Antiva bullshit.
>>
>>93702413
Y'all need to learn the meaning of ambiguous, what's ambiguous about children dressed up in a trenchcoat and made to look like an adult? Especially when the show beats you over the head with it and outright reveals it in season 2.

There IS no great mystery with Vincent Adultman, it's exactly what you see. The only 'mystery' is why no one sees him for what he is except Bojack and I've already explained that, though I would add that Todd and Peanut Butter probably see him as what he is as well but they don't care because they're not cynical or narcissistic enough to point it out like Bojack is.

It's also really not that funny because the joke has been done to death. It's just a new twist on an old joke. Amusing, but hardly a gutbuster.
>>
>>93684808
>Glad they stopped pushing any Diane Bojack angle though.
They're still sorta pushing for it.
Diane keeps Bojacking herself. Every success of hers leads into more failure or self-sabotage.
She keeps saying Mr. Peanutbutter makes her happy, but they keep drifting apart whenever Mr. Peanutbutter isn't doing some big gesture to be a 'good boy'.
Really seems like Bojack should use his own experience to actually help someone for the first time in his life. But he's going to fuck things up and hook up with her.

>foreshadowed with redemption through becoming a father
That would go against the spirit of Herb's last spiteful words. If he gets "redemption" then he'd just be using that poor girl as a toy to make himself feel better. Redemption only truly exists in stories, and this is supposed to be more of a real life thing. There's no definitive fix, no single act that saves him.

I don't know why you guys are so bummed about this, while the show certainly won't improve if a political agenda is being pushed it wasn't even that good to begin with. The depression, characters, and humor are all so 1-dimensional and flat, the fucking show is absolutely riddled with shitty jokes (i honestly forgot i was watching a netflix show, i thought i was on FOX or tbs) but once they shift into maximum oversad every critic in town is praising it for it's half baked nihilist beliefs and ham fisted feels moments. Nothing in the show ever feels natural, you can't expect me to buy this depiction of depression when all the characters don't ever act like humans, they all act like goofy cartoon characters straight out of a generic adult comedy on FOX but then they act like they're on an HBO drama when they need to feel sad. You know that family guy episode "Seahorse Seashell Party"? Yeah, it suffers from the exact same problems as that episode only it's for an entire series, unfunny jokes, a trip out scene that likely took up a good chunk of the budget, and shifts from standard family guy antics to preachy speeches about abuse and/or depression. Keep in mind depression is a very - very - human and real sickness that takes some real balls and a real understanding of what the illness is to properly pull off. You can't do that when the characters are and act like fucking irredeemable cartoons.

>What's ambiguous
that part where you never get confirmation that Vincent actually is 3 kids in a trench coat

>the show outright reveals it
really? I saw a gag that revealed literally nothing but Vincent's kid, who may or may not be the top kid in the trench coat.

>there is no great mystery
I agree, because to dig deeper would be to ruin the joke

>I explained
You gave your own conjecture, the show has nothing to confirm your delusion

>the joke has been done to death
that's your opinion my dude, don't let it influence the fact that Vincent could still literally be a lanky ass man child with a broom prosthesis for a hand

>>93703584
I think after seeing what this guy >>93689583 said in relation to Sarah Lynn, I see it as it would mirror that even in his TV glory, he was a shitty TV father off screen as BoJack, and he will never be The Horse. What I miscommunicated was the success in being a better person through fatherhood. But separate from that, it's surely going to lead BoJack through season 4.

I think we can all agree that BoJack the show has great moments of foreshadowing and mirroring past events, either by inverting what happens or playing is straight.
>>
>>93683881

Animation takes time. Especially when Netflix releases shows by the season rather than airing an episode per week.
>>
>>93704554
You're blind. Deny it if you want but there's nothing deeper here. Calling it for season 4 when Vincent fights over PC with the mouse guy.

Also you might call it conjecture, but it still makes sense. Might not be true, but it fits.
>>
I just hope if there's a lot of politics it's tongue-in-cheek stuff that makes fun of everyone at some point, and not just angry one-sided venting.
>>
>>93702413
No, what made it funny was that it took a stock kid's show plot and asked what it would look like from the adults' perspective. They ruined it when they started showing the kids out of costume.
>>
>that moment where Bojack tries to make amends with Penny even though its a horrible idea

I had to mute the tv, it was still painful to watch....

Yeah most of season 1 ranged from hot garbage to ok, but it improved as it went on. Season 2 onward had a lot of great gags.

I gotta say, as someone who's not a depressed piece of shit, Todd and Mr Peanut Butter are the only likeable characters at this point. Everyone else is constantly holding one person pity parties for themselves and wallowing in existential dread.

God fucking dammit, as if they didn't learn anything from Bush.
Bush bashing was THE lowest hanging fruit possible, and now drumpf jokes are even hanging lower, like carrots or earth core molten iron fruits. Fuck that shit.
Also, I don't know whether I should like Trump for generating such an amount of persistent butthurt among liberals or hate him just because my favorite shows will just have shitty jokes because of him.

Is it weird that I really liked BoJack but also don't really want Season 4?

Every season they seemed to raise the stakes as to how depressed he could get, and I feel like Season 3 ended in a pretty rock bottom way. I can't see how they'd do it all over again and it wouldn't feel forced.

I'd agree if they hadn't teased his daughter at the end. Now I want to see how he self-destructs that entire thing.
Plus we get more of best boy Todd[/spoiler/]
