You, a concerned citizen, have grown increasingly alarmed over the sudden rise of a new wave of heroes.

You only have enough money to hire a low-profile assassin calling herself "Gwenpool."

These are the heroes she's willing to assassimate for you, who do you choose? Why?
>>
Toss up between Chavez and Ironheart
>>
>>93669732
Does it cost extra to ask her to kill herself?
>>
>Gwendolyn Poole

I pick Ms. Marvel just because I want them to develop a rivalry honestly
>>

Hulk, easily.
and I will get off on watching him destroy her

I'm only allowed to kill one yeah?

All of them, followed by herself
>>

Didn't you read that Deadpool issue? With the exception of that Ant-Man and that Red Locust ALL those characters are more popular than Gwenpool so the only one who would end up getting killed is herself.

Moon-Girl. I've never heard of her but her haircut drew my eye.

>>
>>93669732
Realistically she'd only offer to kill Jean Grey, knowing that getting Jean Grey'd would make her a minority character and thus safe from death for the foreseeable future. She would then rat you out, making it a team-up issue, and escape with the money, ending the issue on a "girls night out" scene.

Ironheart. Everyone else has been written well by someone, somewhere. The real enemy is creators being too precious about their characters and never letting them go, or grow, or develop.

Can someone give me atleast a brief summary of this character? I see pictures of her dressed as a fem Deadpool but every page /co/ posts from her comics is some slice of life shit.
>>
>>93670529
>Gwenpool starts off as a joke variant cover relating to Spider-Gwen
>people like the character so she gets her own book
>she comes from our world to 616 wanting to be a hero
>antics ensue and it gets good for me personally at like issue 16
>>
>>93670529
All the slice of life stuff is pretty much from one issue (the latest)

She is a girl from the real world named Gwendolyn Poole who ended up in the Marvel Universe and decided to make herself a costume and become a hero because that's the best way to not get killed as a background extra in the next Skrull Invasion or whatever bullshit. Being a hero turned out to be hard so she became an assassin for hire instead. But she still wants to hang out with her favorite characters.... but nobody likes her. Sad!

She has no powers to speak of, no talent at martial arts and is barely proficient with her guns. However as long as she remains a viable character she can exploit the rules of fiction to survive, as long as she doesn't wind up in a big crossover where minor characters like her always drop like flies.
>>
>>93670600

Oh yeah and, the reason her costume looks like a knockoff of Deadpool's is because when she went to a tailor shop specializing in superhero outfits she gave her name as "Gwen Poole" and the tailor was like "ohhh I get it, you're a copycat of that one guy, okay" and just presented her with the costume later.
>>
>>93670600
>the next Skrull Invasion
I honestly forgot they are a Marvel species
>>
>Paying actual money for Gwen
Nah, see what I'd do is, I'd go around doing crimes and shit to try and grab the target's attention, and I'd hop the fence into the Latverian embassy right before they caught me. Then I'd shout some bullshit about how great Latveria is and declare my loyalty to Doom, and he'd feel honor bound to kill whoever picked me up for besmirching the honor of Doom.
>>
>>93670192
Why is she spouting off mind control villains?
>>
>>93669732
Spider-Nigger.
>>
>Moon Girl

Would Gwenpool really be willing to kill a nine year old girl?

Even if she could morally bring herself to do it, that's just asking for a Franking.
>>
>>93670845
If I'm hiring anyone to take these guys out, I'm hiring 'Cuda. That motherfucker can take ungodly amounts of punishment
>>
>>93670845
She literally tried to shoot a 12 year old kid in front of Spiderman and was confused that Spiderman didn't like that and stopped her.
>>
>>93670819
Because that issue of champions (really shit mind you)
The champions were on a venue to fight bigotry!
dealing with racism left and right and trying to get the political message out there!
Gwen was like wtf are you guys doing giving speeches n shit. theirs gotta be a bad guy behind this.
So gwen came off as unreasonable the entire issue cuz she knew their had to be a someone behind this racism. And the teams like NO YOU IDIOT.

Seems gwen does not understand modern marvel either.
>>
>>93670819

The Champions were investigating hate crimes in a town and Gwenpool showed up trying to join them. The Champions were sure it was just racism and everyday corruption but Gwen kept saying it had to be a secret plot or supervillain scheme because that's how everything works in the Marvel Universe, right??? But the Champions were basically just huge condescending dicks to her because she tried to blow up some cops ONCE as if getting some action in the issue would be a bad thing.
>>
>>93670600
Sounds fun.
>>
>>93670845
She doesnt see the marvel characters as "real people". So, she is not killing a 9 year old. she is killing a character.
>>
>>93670895
>Doesn't understand why Spiderman is against infanticide

Is Gwen REALLY a comics fan, or does she just buy the merchandise?
>>93670878
>>93670895
>>93670974
Still though, she views HERSELF as a real person.

The instant she goes through with killing a child, she loses the audience's sympathy. Especially a named character designed to appeal to children with her own book.

So, again, the instant THAT happens, she gets a huge fucking bullseye on her forehead for anyone of the kill-heroes in Marvel to karmically balance her out.
>>
>>93671026

12 year old? It was a high school student who had just tried to murder all his classmates with a bomb. Gwen thought by killing him she'd get a lockdown on being Miles' vengeful anti-heroic rival like the Punisher or something.

And as Gwen pointed out, he was barely even a character--actually a forgotten subplot from Miles' pre-Secret Wars continuity. He wouldn't have even existed if some writer hadn't brought him back pretty much specifically for her to kill, was her reasoning.
>>
>>93669732

so this...... is the power..... of the marvel roster..... ............
>>
>>93671026
i gwen was confused because shes more enlightened as to how marvels world works. then she tried to enlighten miles and that did not work,
>>
>>93671075
See, THAT'S different. The kid tried to kill a bunch of people. Moon Girl's done nothing but save people, I wouldn't be able to buy Gwen bumping her off.
>>
>>93671026
>Is Gwen REALLY a comics fan, or does she just buy the merchandise?
Given she only recognized the Whore name from the mcu and knew pretty much only short paragraphs about Deadpool from wiki I would say her knowledge is more or less on same level as most normies.

I don't think you remember how she was introduced

She's the asian cutie with eidetic memory who was bitten by the same spider as Pete but has better powers for some reason and learned to fight from watching television while locked inside a bunker for 10 years (don't worry though, there no negative social ramifications to that beyond out-of-date pop culture references) because she's important on a multiversal scale. >>
>>93671277

Here's a casual's guide to new marvel!
Captain Marvel is ms marvel but is now ugly because feminism is about being as ugly as possible. She's still the same cunt you love, tho.

That hulk used to be a support character for the real hulk. He used to be a cool guy, now he's hot or something.

Marvel Girl is JEEEEEEAAAAAN but with even more of a bitch.

Thor is the real Thor's love interest from years ago.

Squirrel girl is squirrel girl but butchered by the art to be uglier (again, modern feminism is about being as ugly as possible).

Hawkeye is Hawkeye's niece or something like that from the young avengers. He used to be okay. I miss No-Varr.

Ant Man is... Shit, Pedro from the taco restaurant?

Red Locust is marvel insulting hispanics and being massively racist while claiming representation.

Silk is Peter Parker's cock sleeve, specifically designed for his dick. Her super power is making Peter want to fuck her. He fucked her in front of Ana Marie.

Ms Marvel is a fake muslim who likes to tell you how much of a muslim she is! Did we mention she's muslim?

Viv is... a robot or an alien or something, but she's totally treated the same as minorities!

Ms. America is a racist caricature of hispanics who, unlike red locust, is not even hispanic.

Moon-Girl is a character who is called the smartest in all of marvel. She showcases how smart she is by saying great things like "I don't know how the government works" and "Why am I not allowed to age-limited stuff if i'm not of the age needed to participate?"

Iron Heart is some chick who found Tony Stark's brain and forced him to spill all of his iron man secrets. She keeps him as a slave.

Wasp is clearly Randy Stair's OC, he did it. He actually did it.

>>
>>93672049
I really like Pak writing Cho, but all of his crossover appearances have sucked dick. Mostly because Champions was the worst thing to happen to every character it's touched. But the circle of four crossover also really dicked over the Ghost Rider ongoing. (That was as much Felipe Smith's fault as the editors)
>>
>>93670600
What the fuck even are comics now? Comics used to be about unlikely heroes gaining powers to make the world a better place.
>Kal-El got his powers from Earth's yellow sun and used them for good to protect Metropolis
>Peter Parker was an awkward teen who was bitten by a spider and gained spider powers to stop evil scientists like Doc Ock and Green Goblin

Why is Spoderman a mopey black dude? Why is Thor, a real, established Norse god a woman? When did comics become >so fahanny random and metaphysical about themselves

Deapool was a joke about donut steel characters and plots but the punchline never came and he became permanent. Now we have intentionally bad Squirrel Girl and literally-7-layer-meta-irony in Gwen.

Good god!

Gwen actually reads comics, but it's regularly shown that her actual knowledge of the Marvel universe is not as extensive as she thinks it is. Her enthusiasm for newer characters suggests that she mostly reads new comics, which helps explain the gaps in her knowledge, and hurts her assertion that she's anything other than an entirely fictional character.
>>
>>93670934
>>93670954

>she's outselling Kate Bishop, Moon Girl, Squirrel Girl, and Wasp
Do those numbers reflect the school book club numbers for Moon Girl? Supposedly that's what's keeping the title alive and it's not usually counted in retailer numbers because "not muh direct market."
>>
>>93674579

Does she read other stuff besides comic books, like novel adaptations of comic book movies, or just regular literature like novels or essays? As for the gaps in her knowledge, what if she goes back to her original world and talks to a comic book historian to fill her in on the histories of the superheroes and villains?
>>
>>93674731
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFYr86kjabs
According to Chris Hastings (who for all intents and purposes created Gwen), she's "a well rounded nerd." She reads DC and indie comics besides Marvel, plays Dungeons & Dragons and likes lots of geeky stuff.

Considering she's a high school dropout I'm gonna guess comics are about where her reading level is at though.
>>
>>93670878
>I'm hiring 'Cuda.
The people Frank kills don't usually come back from the dead. Barracuda was eviscerated, electrocuted, and dismembered for good measure, dying slowly on-panel the way Punisher fans like (with no room for ambiguity). After as many issues of the two of them had playing Tom and Jerry, he went out like a boss but he went OUT.

That being said him squaring off against Lunella and her giant fucking dinosaur would have been a thing to behold.

>>
>>93674835
Ah, but that was MAX Cuda. We've never seen 616 Cuda.
>>
>>93674798

Okay, so she's only into reading comic book literature, but not other forms of literature like the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Dune series, historical fiction novels, novels about other ethnic peoples like African America, Hispanic American, Native America, etc., or philosophical works? I mean, I don't really read any of that stuff, just some of it.

What about her GED, or I think it's called the General Education Diploma, has she at least gotten that diploma? I'm just asking since she's a high school dropout.
>>
>>93674969
>We've never seen 616 Cuda.
Which as much as means there's no indication one exists (and no indication one doesn't).
>>
>>93674798
>>93675007

Another thing? If she's a nerd, how did she drop out of high school? Did she spend too much of her efforts into reading comic books and playing video games and dungeons and dragons or did she have problems with other people at her high school?
>>
>>93675007

I really don't know. She's not (particularly) dumb, just lazy. She's established as someone who'd rather live in a fantasy world than have a real life. Hell her father basically has to push her into even applying for a minimum wage job. She doesn't seem to be on track to getting a GED.

We're not shown the circumstances of her dropping out, just her dad bringing it up at dinner. It's heavily implied (meaning her dad says) that she's just lazy with a short attention span and doesn't want to do anything but play video games and buy comics.

The way I saw it, Gwen has severely low self-esteem and has no faith in herself. She says that she COULDN'T graduate high school, and emphasizes how she was too pathetic to get a job at a restaurant. Earlier, it's shown that she's still waffling on writing more fanfics.

I'm willing to bet that she was doing poorly, didn't get the help or support she needed, and flunked out. Which just added to the pre-existing issues she had about herself, and exacerbated her descent into loserdom.

I think her her being disinterested in reality likely played a big part in it, though.

But I also think >>93675302 has a good point. Coming from a family filled with people suffering from depression (among other issues), she really fits the bill for someone who has it.

Maybe some poetry will help her with those debilitating mental issues. I remember reading about some famous philosopher, I thought it was Bentam, but it was actually John Stuart Mill, who was a polymath but eventually succumbed to depression. He was able to crawl out of his depressive state after he read some poetry.

Maybe Gwenpool can do the same, I don't think it has to be poetry, but try out something other than comic books and video games. Instead of playing first person shooter video games, maybe she can read a military history novel book, like Black Hawk Down or Helmet For My Pillow (which I didn't read, yet).

But according to http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Gwen_Poole_(Earth-TRN565), she has returned to the real world.

"Teddy forced Gwen through a portal that not only brought them back to their home universe, but also to the time before Gwen had made the jump, leaving her with no memories of her time as Gwenpool. As Gwen resumed her previous unfulfilling life, she eventually ended up back at the same place and time as when she left her universe, in front of a mysterious portal in a laboratory which showed her the prospect of her exciting escapist universe being a reality. Teddy, who had promised himself to make sure his sister stayed this time, managed to prevent Gwen from going through the portal."

The comic book is still going and hasn't been cancelled.
>>
>>93675840
Gwen's all but fixed in the comic proper. She sees the comic book characters as real, and she has people who support her. She's accomplished a lot of stuff in the series.

Even when Gwen got a job in the real world, she wasn't as happy as she was/would be on Earth-616.

She's way better in the Marvel world than she'd ever be in her world. Escapism was the best thing for her.

I'm actually reading the comics, trust me it's not being set up like she's going to stay in the real world.

Actually my prediction for issue #18 is it's going to turn out she's not back in the real world at all, and her "brother" (who knows about the dimensional portal for still unexplained reasons) will turn out to be some kind of malevolent entity.
>>
>>93676013
>She sees the comic book characters as real
Not exactly. She likes certain characters, as well as characters (like Sarah and Tony) that become her friends. She still doesn't see "extras" (i.e, nameless pedestrians who tend to get caught up in the carnage of superhero battles) as people. Think like when you play a CRPG, there might be certain NPCs with crafted personalities you come to like, but you don't really care about the nameless random sprites roaming the countryside.
>>
>>93676200
So like a sociopath
>>
>>93676200
She's growing beyond that, too. She's gotten chewed out for using and abusing extras. She even saved an extra by making her say her name, because she didn't want her hurt.

She said that she's grown to care for her friends, but she's also been a lot less trigger-happy as of late. Except for villains, like those dwarves.

She's still violent and murderous, but she's been keeping innocents out of it. Granted, she hasn't had much time to prove that she cares about extras, but she's been learning and showing that she does care.

Gwenpool Kills the Marvel Universe, where she realizes that she's in a non-canon book, and decides to kill people in order to make for an exciting story to add under her character's belt.

The final fight is her vs Deadpool, where she's (mistakenly?) confident she'll win, because the book is non-canon.

>>
>>93669732
Good question. Let's look at my options.

Silk is an abomination to the classic Spidey stories, so right off the bat she's a contender.

Ant-Man, assuming he's still Scott, is fine.

Red Locust, I have no idea who the fuck you are and I am a huge Marvel fan. Killing you would be a waste, as you'll probably never see a solo series get to 4 issues.

Marvel Girl, I know how badly Jean fans have suffered, so you can stay.

Hulk is a frustration, but it's Pak writing Cho, so I'll assume that it's passable, even if it's not my cup of tea. He's safe.

Hawkeye is fine.

'Spider-Man' is fine as an alt-universe OC donut-steel, but I'm not a fan of there being two Spideys. He's on the chopping block.

Ms. Marvel is fine.

Ironheart is embarrassing. Typical Bendis OC, but I highly doubt she'll last long. How's her book doing? Poorly?

Captain Marvel is fine.

Viv is fine, and is actually from a good comic so I'm not sure why she's on this list.

Wasp is fine - she's a Waid OC, right? I think I read her origin issue and it was alright.

Squirrel Girl is fine, and her book is fine if you read it under the right lens.

America is a wretched, wretched comic, but it's not like she's going anywhere.

Moon-Girl? Isn't she from an all-ages comic sold at book fairs? Fuck it, she can stay. Little kids need comics too.

So we've got Miles, Silk, and Ironheart. Ironheart is destined to blow up in Marvel's face, so she can stay as a saboteur of sorts. Silk is a Slott OC and it's highly unlikely she'll be used when he's done with the book. I'd like to see her retconned, though.

Miles, sorry buddy, but you were destined to meet this fate when Marvel dragged your shitty comic into the 616 proper.

Ironheart's most recent comic sold 28,266 copies on issue 7. By comparison, the last series was selling 51,748 on its 7th issue. The Stark book cracked top 30. Ironheart is currently at 89.

Spider-Man fares slightly better, ranked 77 and selling 30,775. Peter's own book sold 51,404, ranked 27.

>>

Squirrel Girl is a bad, ugly series... but it isn't a problem at all.
She doesn't show up in other peoples books or events constantly, she doesn't cause continuity problems. Everyone - fans and writers - treats her series as if it's just non-canon jokes.

So there is no issue here. You can ignore it and it's not gonna get rammed down your throat, like say, Moon Girl or Miles. It's just there. Like it or don't.

I had a dream about a new Gwenpool villain recently. Like her, he is aware he's in a comic book, but he's from Marvel. She's never heard of him because he intentionally stays off-panel, because he figured out as long as nobody knows his name and he stays off-panel, he can't die, as he can't be shown or described as doing so.

Gotta agree with this. Squirrel Girl isn't a book for me and Henderson's art is visual cancer, but she isn't a character that constantly gets shilled around and shoved into other people's books. That might change after the New Warriors show comes out, but for now it's really easy to ignore Squirrel Girl if you don't want to read about her.

Compare that to Miles or Lunella, who get shilled constantly and shoved into fucking everything. ffs, Moon Girl showed up as a guest star in fucking VENOM of all things. How many people who read Venom want to have to deal with Lunella showing up just to get shilled again? She's a character that really should stick to her all-ages ghetto and kept out of 616 proper, but Marvel's doing the exact opposite of that.
