Not entirely true. Sales have been down, not just for Ultimates but for a lot of their comics. Which means there is a negative trend and that customers Obviosuly aren't buying as many comics as they used to.

A lot of comic reviewers are also giving Marvels comics average to bad reviews especially on things like Ironheart for example.

If you are looking for some "objective show of bad writing" then just look at the recent IronHeart flashback, where she demands a white teacher be racist for her so that she can fulfill some ludicrious fantasy of "showing her teacher". He's been written terribly in just about everything that wasn't his solo. This is especially noticeable in Champions, which is bad across the board. Also, his solo started out pretty decent, had some of the only genuinely good CW2 tie ins, and then immediately went to shit with a bullshit Space Jam arc guest starring fucking Jeremy Lin, of all things. That was immediately followed up with a very special all East Asian + Kamala (because reasons) team up and it's only now just picking up again with a Weapon X crossover.

In any case, he's definitely not the worst of Marvel's diversity legacies and he's one of the tiny few that does actually make sense. It's the execution that's bad, and I feel like a lot of that can be blamed on Bendis killing off Banner for shock value and on poor editorial in general.

Champions is god-awful, and Avengers is just dry. Black Panther has alright concepts, but Coates needs to learn how to write concepts and focus more on T'Challa. A lot of books, like Occupy Avengers and Hawkeye, suffer from being absurdly forgettable, and just get washed last because Marvel is putting out too many titles.

I think the point was that quality control is at an all time low with marvel. Someone should have picked up on it before it was published. Someone should have gone through the comic, make sure quality was ensured etc etc.

By extension (and maybe my own interpretation) he's comparing how the writers have low quality control, just like the artists. Bad stories get passed through, bad situations, bad ideas. No one really has put their foot down and said "No".
