There was a good reflection about this in a book I once read. Basically, the protagonists scoffed at the idea that "you'll live on as long as people remember you" because that means you won't live past your great grand children. After all, who here knows their great grandparents, or great great grandparents' names?

Nothing lasts.

Literally nothing.

You can rationalize all you want, but any attempt to pretend that you're not just being a selfish asshole because you want to be a selfish asshole falls flat the moment you actually consider it. If you want to be a dick to everybody, whatever, but don't get offended when people treat you like shit too, and don't pretend like your rambling half-hour verbal masturbation has any more meaning than the space-dust you're denigrating.

Lex created a supes clone. When Earth 3 invaded , they trapped the justice league inside firestorm leaving lex to assemble his own group to fight off the invaders. Lex released the clone before he was 100% done which is why he's bizarro. Also he got the clone to do what he says by feeding him a fake story about his sister to which Bizarro responds with , "me try".

In Civil War, Spider-Man revealed his identity to the world because he was siding with Tony and the government. Eventually he realized Tony and the registration were wrong, so he defects. In doing so, he became a wanted fugitive, with his actual face and name plastered everywhere. Then Aunt May dies, yadda yadda apparently the smartest people in the world can't or won't save her for no reason, and he sells his marriage and newborn daughter to Mephisto to not only save Aunt May, but to also erase any memory of his identity from everyone in the world, thus resolving his dilemma as a fugitive. So basically, when the going got tough and there seemed to be no chance, instead of fighting to overcome it, he took the easy way out and literally made a deal with the devil to resolve his problems. Fuck Quesada

He should have died in 1989/1990 right after Killing Joke and Death in the Family came out. He's been written as some edgy psycho in an attempt to top the two ever since, aside from some exceptions

But didn't Peter ask pretty much every possible person, mystical and villain he could to find a way to save her aunt? Selling his love to Mary Jane to Mephisto was the very last option he could find, and Mary Jane agreed to it even.

Yeah, and the reasons they couldn't were contrived in order to make Peter be "forced" to make that choice. Fact of the matter is that he should have just let Aunt May die, especially since he already experienced her death once.

>>
>>93672233
Seriously. At the core of his character, the Joker is a philosopher. Everything he does should be to prove a point about who he is and the values he holds dear. And those values are that the world is a darkly comedic place where the only thing anyone can do is snap like a twig and laugh themselves to death. When they instead turn him into some kill-happy edgelord who just does whatever he wants because he's LOL SO WACKY it only detracts from the character and what makes him Batman's greatest enemy.

The fucking panel explicitely refutes this point by mentioning that his friends would hold back and hesitate.

When have you EVER seen a mind-controlled super get murdered by their teammates in a comic? Fucking NEVER. They always hold back and try to subdue or distract them until they can fix the illusions/mind control. In this story, they fail. It's that simple.

There was no fucking battle royale. There was an insane Logan tearing into people trying NOT to fight him.

Weight of the world on his shoulders Spider-man is great and all, but heroics doesn't define Spider-man, humanity does.

I think his more defining moments are when he's been pushed past the limits of Spider-man and he's just Peter parker in a suit. I mean fuck's sake he keeps a black suit in the back of his closet in case he needs to stop heroing and start doing what needs to be done.

Not all forms of nihilism do and I personally subscribe to nihilist notions that just because you reject all forms of artificial rule structures doesn't mean you can't create your own.

If you admit that there is no true morality; no higher function from which you can be judged, then utilitarianism isn't completely in conflict with nihilism which I believe is what BRB is going for.

Ya know, I like this. Rhino knows who he is, he knows what he's capable of and where his limits lie.
He knows he isn't that smart, but he also knows he's strong.
He does what he wants, he sucks it up when things go bad and he gets sent to prison AGAIN... but he has fun when he's out.

That's the kind of Rhino I can get behind. Maybe even Hench for.
>>
>>93688688
No, no, Bane didn't even live in Gotham. He went there just because of Batman, he spent a few years studying him and stalking him, he learned his identity, he then proceeded to sabotage him in his crime fighting endeavors from the shadows, then he released all of his enemies from Arkham and set them on him. After being exhausted from fighting all the escaped goons, Joker, Scarecrow and company, he came back to the mansion only to find it completely fucked up, and then Bane finally introduced himself to him and said his goal was just to prove that he was better than Batman. He broke him as a statement, he had nothing to gain from killing him but sparring his misery to be on a wheelchair and watch Bane take full control of Gotham.

A good quote from the movie is when Bruce tells him to kill him, Bane says he'll watch his city and everything he fought for burn to the ground, "and only then you'll have my permission to die".

Mostly, kinda. They realize he's broken as fuck and try to keep on his good side. Don't kill civilians, don't even think about his secret identity, don't actually try to kill him. Even if they did kill him, that just brings Superman and Batman on the thiing and they're not gonna be half as gentle as the Flash.

That Bane just hasn't found a purpose SINCE breaking Batman. He's still wandering around, and isn't REALLY trying.

Well that's ok but if you don't listen to the guy whose super power is having a smart head you should know, at least by logic, you're doing something wrong.

I take issue with that story it's edgy for the sake of being edgy and that both loses it's shock value fast and tires out really quickly, the monologues are about a powerwank not wit and character. There's no depth bellow that you can look into and take something of value. That's what actually bothered me I just didn't realize at first sight.
>>
>>93684644
Because it's a page about fortitude, being beaten down by life and find reason and meaning to keep going, which in the west is incredibly relevant to young kids that still didn't find their way. If I were to bet, a person that wants to but doesn't write, does so not because of lack of inspiration, but because of fear of failing on what actually matters for them.

In the third world the consequence of not trying is so much worse than having to hear the sass from your father that such thought as not trying doesn't even cross people's mind. In a way it's good because the objective is clearly in front of you, but bad because you have no choice on the matter.

See this, this is Superman. Love, compassion, always trying to talk people out of the bad and even trying to ask villains if they would like a chance at redemption. He isn't so much an action hero as he is that single moment of clarity to do the right thing for the right reason only never ending and able to extend that moment to others if they are willing to just take his hand even for a moment.

Why can't any film get that right?

Rebirth isn't this edgy, though the stuff with Eobard can always go either way. Give it a try.

And yeah, the Rogues had really been pushed here. The fake Rogues had beaten the shit out of Paul Gambi, who's considered family to the Rogues, and kidnapped Cold's abusive dad. It's not that they cared about Cold's dad (hence he was killed afterwards), but they really wanted to keep people from harassing their family. Plus they hate it when people steal their weapons.
