“One man’s fortress is another’s prison.”
-Au Vam

It's not entirely true that Yre has never been breached by anyone who survived the attempt, only it's Grand Vault. There is simply so much of it that all sorts of vermin can slip in through the cracks. Only those that seek deeper treasures will face the Dragon.

Yeah, that was the impression I got. Especially combined with the quote attached to the page.

The fortress is infinite. There are corners that haven't seen actual employees in literally centuries. This just happens to be one of those neglected places.

>Occasional reports from these smaller bits to some central location
>These reports are so large in number that a single place going dark can go utterly unnoticed
>No one would ever know unless they stumbled upon it and found all the workers long dead.
>Ancient dusty portions of the fortress occasionally found, the dead cleared out, and staff reassigned to take stock of what's there and prepare a report
>The cycle then repeats

This is some fucking Warhammer 40k shit.

I really hope he ends BTFOed by Mammon himself, him learning the difference between himself and a demiurge would be so satisfying
>>
>>93661149
But what is the difference between him and a demiurge? Besides a key.
>>
>>93661362
Their ambition. Charon thinks his ambition equal to Mammons, which is just plain wrong
Also, one is a bug dragon and the other is a lizard demon
>>
>>93661362
>Besides a key.
That's like asking what's the difference between Cyprus and the USA, besides a nuclear arsenal.
>>
>>93660886
That's what I was thinking. Maybe she'll get catapulted to Ebonhood once they reach Mammon? Maybe the only true reason she's still a blue is because she rejects her past as Yabalchoath.

>>93661362
>Besides a key
Yeah, that's no big deal, huh?
The main difference between those two is the scale of their ambition. Charon is bonepicking scavenger, collectiing the crumbs that fall from the tables of those who eat from Mammon's hand. On the other hand, Mammon didn't conquer his key; he BOUGHT it. Can you picture someone so filthy rich he can buy himself a piece of divinity, and still be the richest bastard in the multiverse?
>>
>>93661583
Did he buy his first or second key? I'm fairly certain that him having lost a key once was confirmed but I don;t remember there being anything about which one of those was bought.
>>
>>93661670
He lost only a portion of it. The demiurge keys can lend out fragments of themselves to give serious power boosts and unique abilities.
>>
>>93661670
No, Yabalchoath only managed to steal a tiny part of his key, which she lost after the slave revolt and the angels brought her down. We don't know what happened to that fragment after Yab fell.
>>
>>93661670
He bought ONE key, and the demiurge he bought it from got the better of the deal.

A FRACTION, a sliver, less than a thousandth of his key's power was stolen once by the demon who is now Cio.
>>
>>93661734
>>93661756
>>93661776
Wasn't it implied that he lost his key completely at some point, not to ex-Cio?
>>
>>93661806
No, just that the shame of having lost even a little bit drove him to solitude.

>>93661776
>He bought ONE key, and the demiurge he bought it from got the better of the deal.

>>
>>93661418
>>93661418
You act as if a bring, whose entire existence is ambition and desire, having a huge ambitious mind is some crime that deserves of death. Ambition does not belong to Mammon alone.
>>
>>93661806
No, the only one implied to have had a key and lost it shown in the story so far is Maya.

And from what we can tell, she didn't so much as "lose" it than discard it, then Incubus got it.

And also getting more time for his hobbies on top of being rich as fuck.
>>
>>93661855
I never said that. I said Charon falsely believes his ambition to be equal to Mammons
>>
>>93661855
His crime isn't ambition, it's hubris.
Much more powerful devils have only succeeded in stealing a pinch of his power (and could only keep it for a short while before it became their undoing), and yet he thinks he has a chance at usurping him and taking his whole Key. That's arrogance which will lead to his death.
>>
>>93661855
Not that anon, but the problem is not if ambition is good or bad; the thing here is Charon believes his own ambition to be above Mammon's, while at the same time he literally lives off the dead, and Mammon's ambition granted him so much wealth he managed to buy himself a piece of God's power.

Charon is being a stupid newfag, in short.
>>
>>93661846
Oh, and also no.

Mammon was said to have secluded himself in his Scrooge McDuck vault for ages before Yabalchoath broke in there.

Didn't she attempt it because Mammon had been quiet for so long some thought he had died?

So he's always been reclusive.
>>
>>93661951
>>93661993
>Charon is being a stupid newfag who thinks he can take down Mammon
>Mammon is so reclusive some thought he had died
Does that mean that Mammon is an oldfag?
>>
>>93661993
I forget if that's the case. If so I wonder if he really has any ambition left at this point.

Allisons key is sure to spark his interest either way
>>
>>93662041
If you think of it in terms of old faggin', Zoss wouldn't have shown up until around 2007 at the earliest.

All them gods would've shown up maybe around 2005, and YIS-UN killed itself after shitposting on /b/ in non-stop samefag fashion during 2003.

Which means Mammon is from the 2010 stock and Charon is post-GR15 in terms of newfag.
>>
>>93656562
Shes got a dwarf's proportions.
>>
>>93661906
>>93661927
>>93661951
You again forget that Devils are brings of hubris and desire, to be ambitious is to be true to their nature. And besides that, who are you small creatures to measure a beings ambition and say "he is nowhere near as ambitious". All ambitions start small and grow, and to each of us our ambitions are grand. What happened to Cio? She had grand ambitions and pursued then like a violent flame, and she got struck down hard for it. If Charon truly does seek to surpass Mammon, maybe he is just biding his time and hung about it a different way. Besides, what has become of Mammons ambition. He grew great and then what, stagnated, like all the other demiurges, he was small, like Charon once, and his ambition brought him to the top and now he lost his ambition. So if anything, Charon's ambition is far greater than Mammons now.

>>
>>93662163
>>93662557
For some reason both of you or just you seem to think Mammon has lost his ambition.

But what matters to him is ALL that matters to him, and what that is is the count.

He's in his big coin vault with probably enough coins where if you were to smelt them all down you could form a planet or two out of the sheer amount of mass they are (remember, the fortress is fractal, it is bigger on the inside, very likely bigger than all of Throne on the inside, think Treasure Planet core chamber times 50 at minimum would be my guess), so he's been in this room with all these coins for ages because he NEEDS to count them all himself.

He is constantly getting more coins, he never leaves because he has a system where more coins are brought to him so he never needs to leave and just keeps counting, forever, like if Count von Count took over 1/7th of the multiverse and dedicated his entire existence to counting everything in it.
>>
>>93662557
That ambition is in a devil's nature does not mean Charon isn't stupid for thinking himself above Mammon. Stupidity must be in his nature, too.
You refer to Yabalchoath's actions, and that her ambition led to her fall. But her name and fate are widely known among devils, yet Charon does not learn his lesson from the story, and seeks to do exactly the same. Not learning from others' mistakes is also stupidity, I think.

And why would Mammon's ambition be gone? If so, I think it grew over time. Once he conquered divinity, what was left for him to do?
Conquer control. So he founded the Grand Dragon's Bank, and now he controls Throne's economy; he's the master of greed, controlling other people's ambitions through his own.
Enjoying what you get through your ambition is the best about ambition; now, the only thing Mammon's got to do is lay on his hoard, knowing that, eventually, all the riches in the Multiverse will end up at his feet through loans, debts and investments managed by his cult.
>>
>>93662820
Well yeah, what do you think the angels thought of Zoss when he showed up in their secret clubhouse and wrecked the place?
>>
>>93662898
But Charon doesn't think he's above Mammon. He says his ambition rivals that of a younger Mammon.

It reminds me of all those people who were angry that Allison was acting confident, commanding and putting her foot down and getting excited about the potential of seeing her getting beaten
>>
>>93662873
>>93662898
That's kind-of the point behind the story though. All the Demiurges have stagnated, they no longer grow or improve, just sitting on their fortunes and grandeur playing games and getting fat. The only one who isn't like that is Jagganoth, and surprise surprise, he is the most powerful Demiurge, except he seeks to destroy everything rather than improve it. Mammons ambition was to become great and mighty, and he has, so what's left? That's the problem, he sought his ambition in fortunes, amassed the largest fortune in the multiverse and now sits and grows old.

>>93663049
Yet he wants to take part in a plan to infiltrate Yre and steal Mammon's key. He intends to succeed where another one, far more powerful than him, only got a partial success. I'll concede that maybe he does not think himself above Mammon, but in that case Charon's just too full of himself.

>>93663170
You've got a point there but, as you say, while all the other demiurges have been either playing court and brooding over their plans for destruction, Mammon has been absent. My point is you don't get to be one of the sovereigns of the Multiverse by not paying attention at what everybody else is doing, and since Mammon controls the economy and keeps a close eye to all monetary movement, I think he might be scheming plans of his own. Ambition requires opportunity.
>>
>>93663445
I doubt Charon wants to steal his key. Judging by his pastime, I feel like he just wants to steal Mammons gold. And if you call him full of himself for being recruited to break in and rob Mammons vault, then the entire team is full of themselves as they were all recruited to do the same thing. It's just silly how people put this hope in seeing Charon being killed because he said "I wanna be like Mammon, rich and powerful!"

Remember the holes we see in Allison's soul-body in the void? I have a hypothesis that's the result of her being an imperfectly-formed being and that those are the chisel-marks of Aesma. Thoughts?
>>
>>93665389
No, I don't particularly remember her having any extra holes while in the void.

Her shade was much better formed than the other (presumably) human shades that we saw, and that was either because of the key of kings, or her own overwhelming ignorance.

I remember the holes, but I think those aren't from Aesma. Aesma didn't personally create every human, just the first ones.
They do, however, remind me of angel shells.

That is completely canon. Devils change in appearance over time, sometimes slowly, sometimes not.

Humans do too, just a bit slower and more boringly.

To be specific, he wasn't just a black flame from the start. He was an Ebon who managed to shed his last name.

They're totally the sign of devil's kisses, so it makes you wonder if that's just Abaddon being arty, or Allison has somehow made pacts with devils before even reaching Throne.

Savvy Jack is the man Mammon bought his key from.

We think. Not confirmed. Only that he was originally going to be filling the role of "greed".

We also think he is king of NEETs.

>Savvy Jack is the man Mammon bought his key from.
Do you have literally any indication that this was the case or are you talking out of your ass.
>>
>>93671573
Savvy Jack was one of the Demiurges' planned designs from the original K6BD. As far as I know, Jagganoth is the most similar with his previous conception.
>>
>>93671590
Anon, read my post again, specifically the second line of it.
>>
>>93671638
Yes, and I was wondering if you had anything that might make you think that, like a specific detail. Otherwise it's just baseless speculation. I could say Jadis and Allison's roommate were secret gaylovers and it'd be just as valid as what you said if you have absolutely no backing for it.

>>
>>93671811
He just said "we think" so it's just a fan theory. Savvy Jack was the original concept for what would feel the "Greed" demiurge slot so it would make sense if he's the demiurge that Mammon bought is key from.

some pasta i saved:

1. FORCHIN's glory is great, and you may know this by two paths, the sanctioned words, and the sanctioned action.
2. The sanctioned words are BIX NOOD FOROHFOR SAGE. The meaning of these words is FORCHAN and their attainment is Moderation.
3. The sanctioned action is to Shitpost.
4. To Shitpost means division by the keyboard of Sauce, that parer of potentials that excises infinities.
5. To train with the keyboard, first master typing. When you have mastered posting, you must master the way of drawing OC. Once you have learned how to draw OC, you must post lewds. Once you have posted lewds, you must learn the arts of finding the sources of porn crops, the arts of greentexting, the arts of implying, and pasta writing. You must become familiar with the mouse and the stylus in equal measure. When you have mastered all these things you must master posting a thread. Once your thread is posted, you have no further need for a keyboard, since it is an ugly piece of plastic and its adherents idiots.

Why is Solomon always so fucking smug?
>>
>>93677705
because he's the deadly sin of pride
>>
>>93677705
Because outside of Jagg and maybe Jadis, Solomon is the only guy who really obtained his power through sheer skill.

Mammon paid cash money
Incubus backstabbed Maya
Mottom got her first key(s) when she murdered her husband
Wormface is worms.

Solomon simply kicked ass so hard that no one he fought could handle his level of asskickery. He holds a tournament so often and anyone that can lay the smack down on him gets his key. As you can see, he still has it.
>>
>>93676798

No she won't ascend to Ebon automatically. The only way that could happen is if she got another key.
