Is it wrong for South Park to ignore politics next season?

This is a strange question to me. How can the content of a cartoon be "wrong" as long as the network and advertisers are ok with it? It's what the creators want, who case?

No, especially considering this show can barely handle politics with either tact or sophistication; it's always pretty obvious jokes and ultimately uncritical analysis considering how often they do the "both sides suck" shit. The best episodes of this show are all one off stories.

Trump is also just incredibly low-hanging fruit. Any joke can write itself half the time. Literally every comedy show or late-night monologue just recycles the same content. They can easily find more things to create content on that won't feel as instantly worn out.

Using Jenner and her car antics is a bad example because it was good, transgressive comedy. It stepped on the taboo of her manslaughter while everyone else was applauding her sex change. That was a far better take than filling an episode with dick jokes.

What's taboo about Trump now? What could you do that would make people uncomfortable? A major part of South Park is crossing that line, and there's nothing to really cross unless you want Trump ass-fucking his daughter (and even that would be dumb on-screen).
