I would actually like this show more if Arnold was not in it.

He is the least normal character in the show. Every other kid is better.

For one thing, it didn't insult kids' intelligence. It's a pity that John K thinks children can't appreciate anything but booger and fart jokes.

The characters were interesting, the stories some of the episodes told were very poignant and the writing was very good. Plus, the artstyle and background music/noise was superb. The show was good in the 90's and it still holds true to this day.

I don't know if this is accurate, but I remember Bartlett saying Arnold was more like a means to an end, while he considered Helga the real protagonist. I could be wrong, but I do remember him not speaking highly of Arnold.
