Is Romance in cartoons a tired cliche?
>>93645339
I still like it if it's well done
>>93645366
What's are some good examples?
>>93645408
REGULAR SHOW
>>93645408
Arguably.
>>93645339
No, but fandoms ruin it
Scott Pilgrim was also one of the most horrible examples of a romance-based comic too, like it makes me actually want to punch the author straight in the face.
>>93645339
I like it when its not the main focus. That way it can be cute or bad, but it wont bring the show down. Bonus points if its mostly done of subtle hints and recurring gags instead of plot threads.
I dont like it when its a BIG part of the shows story, because most of the people writing them dont know shit about how to write romance.
>>93645575
But Starco is completely platonic
>>93645575
i know plenty of people love this, but they work better as friends. The entire romance arc is star getting cucked.
Its like Kim Possible but if it took itself way more seriously.
>>93645339IT DEPENDS RETARD
>>93645339
Is romance in general a tired cliche?
>>93645339
No, it's just rarely done well, if at all.
>>93645339
>Is an entire genre and aspect of human culture able to be fit into a cliche?
What do you think smartass?
>>93645823
Is romance.....tiring?
>>93645823
Het romance definitely is
>>93645473
the only well made romance in this cartoon was of rigby and eileen and even so it was too much off screen
>>93646316
Fujoshits and Yurifags being outside of their containment boards ought to be punishable by hanging.
>>93645339
How can a common theme of humanity itself can be a cliché? Is this bait?
>>93646316
go be a fag somewhere else
>>93645408
Possibly the only good cartoon example.
(I'm open to other suggestions, though.)
>>93645339
I'll take a platonic relationship with subtle sexual tension over romance anytime.
Romantic DRAMA is a tired cliche. For once I'd like to see a character have a boring healthy relationship with his/her significant other where the only drama is the result of outside influence rather than the two being petty assholes to one another.
THAT would be fucken nice
Done incorrectly to the point of being insipid garbage. Yes. Doing it correctly? Nah.
>>93646916
So basically >>93646722 but with more kissing?
>>93646944
I wouldnt know, I never watched the series all the way through
Is Romance in reality a tired cliche?
>>93646939
Tuon/Mat romance
>>93646955
Go do it now, it's excellent.
>>93645339
It's like asking if action scenes or humor are tired cliches. They're conventions. And yes, I'm painfully aware there are weirdoes out there who balk at action scenes in general or don't like to laugh at stuff they read and watch...
>>93646408
Are you a sensible romanticist or something?
>>93645408
I like it when they start as enemies or the chick is tsundere or there's a general combative mood
>>93650504
why is charlie sheen my thumbnail
>>93650537
That guy really gets around.
>>93650656
you mean beck?
>>93645473
>none of the relationships or crushes he spent episodes on paid off
>ends up with some nobody in the last episode
nah
>>93645339
Only when it follows the 'these two characters probably like each other but won't act on it during the show, at least not in any meaningful way' plot line, leaving fans unsatisfied.
>>93651763
You could argue it's very similar to real life. I know it's anecdotal but the people that used to crush heavily on somebody end up with someone different at the end. Maybe something between the crush and the person happened, but it just didn't work out.
