Spider-Man's Bag-Man costume got its 4 removed in a mobile game
A developer of a Facebook game said that there's no X-Men because they weren't given permission
However this embargo on X-Men seems to be dying off a bit with X-Men appearing on a mobile game recently and are appearing in Marvel Heroes Omega.
Fantastic Four have been getting a worse treatment when they and Silver Surfer were flat out taken away for availability in an MMO.

And you friend would be right, marvel just relaunched the x-men comics with the pretext that they would be more centric in the marvel universe but that it in the comics, recently there has been a surge of x-men merchandise (funko pops, they being in some mobile games, toys) but that is a niche market, when it come to more important stuff like tv shows or console/pc games they wont be promote.

Your friend is partly right, it's not neccesarily Disney but actually more likely Ike Perlmutter, who's been running Marvel before the Disney buyout and is known for petty moves.
