PUNISHER STORYTIME
All this year I'll be storytiming Punisher comics, with most of the focus being on pre-Ennis material, but with a few Ennis era stories at some point, and maybe some post-Ennis era stuff possibly maybe. Expect at least one story per week.
Up to this point most of what we've read so far has been from the Mike Baron run on the character. And his run HAS been pretty fucking awesome, for the most part. But we're up to about late 1991 now, or approximately where the Chuck Dixon era began. And if you thought Baron's run was cool, Dixon's is some next level shit. Legitimately THE best run on The Punisher outside of Ennis' high points, and I'd argue THE single most consistent run on the character (let's be real, Ennis' dips in quality around the middle [during the Marvel Knights ongoing], whereas Dixon's is just hard-hitting throughout) with some of the best scripting/narrations, characterization(s), and stories ever done on the character to this day.
But before Dixon's runs on The Punisher War Journal and (his even more famous run on) The Punisher War Zone (and then later on his run on the main book, The Punisher) he had been the fill-in writer during the later Baron era of The Punisher, and before THAT he had started out on the character with a "graphic novel" entitled "Kingdom Gone", #64 out of Marvel's "Marvel Graphic Novel" series from the 80s through early 90s.
There's not really much else to say about it except that it's awesome, so let's read this bitch.
PUNISHER KINGDOM GONE
STORYTIMEI would also HIGHLY recommend reading The 'Nam over here: >>93574843 It features an appearance from Frank Castle in his Vietnam War days.

I love that run. Where he teams up with Wolverine to fight a midgit crime gang or The Russian comes back with huge boobs and is a card carrying Spider-man fan club member. It's Ennis' juvenile humor at it's bestI like it more than some of the MAX stuff

I always thought all the silly bits in Marvel Knights were inappropriate for such a grim character as Punisher and would be better suited for a more outrageous character like Deadpool or someone, but maybe it's just because I read his MAX stuff before MK so that's what I was used to.

I think Welcome Back, Frank proved that black humor can work on the character at times.

READING BUMP
Thanks anon! Never enough Frank on this board!
>>93578593
I was about to say "well this won't end well", and... well there you have it.
>>93578688
This is a pretty intense page. Dixon could write some pretty intense character moments in The Punisher in general.
>>93578723
>>93579695
He's right about the "Robin Hood" part.
The rest, no.

That's a stylish ending.

No problem.

Thanks for this anon. Did I miss the old Wolverine v Punisher arc?
