Mauricio does what sells. Not even mangas can beat him in sales, and Disney comics, although a success decades ago (until the early 90's) with some really good stories written in Brazil, is now nowhere close to him. And american comics are almost dead.

And he was involved with some things he didn't own. They did a pretty bad crossover with Osamu Tezuka properties, and was in talks with Marvel to do a Spider-Man comic, but that was around 10 years ago.

Now that's all that Brazil is, although without samba, as samba is too complex for those pothead monkeys. We now have the Brazilian funk and live in a perpetually drug-fueled party. It's like USA and jazz and hip hop. The niggers can't do jazz anymore, they're too retarded to create actual music, so you guys have hip hop trash with niggers talking about how much they love being trash.
That's why the country became an irredeemable shithole. Brazil was molded over its own foreign stereotypes, this way destroying the country's real culture. In the past we had catholic arabs, germans, italians, people from the whole world, and what endured was mostly the best people had to offer, even if the country had its problems.

Mauricio de Souza, the guy who created Monica's Gang, belongs to a generation before everything wents to shit. That's also why his characters are mainly white.

I beg to differ, I don't think the problem is "no one wants something different" the problem is that Monica is highly fucking marketable and has created sort of a "safe space" to him and his company; MSP is like Archie Comics before the management shift.
Archie and gang aren't really popular in Brazil, and yet I've seen people talk about Afterlife with Archie and even Riverdale has gone on TV based on the power alone of how american television has in the country.
And although their graphic novels can be equivalent to like what AC did to Archie with stuff such as Afterlife, I still think Archie had more variety in their longrun when you pick their licenses on TMNT, Megaman and the Sonic comic which only now has it been canned.

Safe for the Astro Boy crossover, there hasn't been shit this guy has done outside Monica and yet everyone treats him like a big deal comparing him among great brazilian authors despite there being comic artists like Ziraldo and even Ba and Moon that offer way more variety than him.

The halloween editions are ALL 11/10 if you take them as standalone stories though, I mean it. Great ambience.

Brazil may be the world's cesspool, but most Monica's Gang comics are good and better than what Marvel and DC publishes nowadays. Way better than Archie main comics too.
Just avoid the comics based on BR celebrities like all those soccer players. They're pure trash with unlikable characters.

I love those more angular old designs. My favorite look for the gang.
But what I noticed when I actually tried to do it, is that Monica's Gang characters are tricky to turn into good 3D models. And those more angular ones are the trickier. The post-Mauricio designs forms aren't coherent from every angle, while the original Mauricio drawings from the strips were simpler and more coherent.
Maurício was a pretty decent artist, writer and a great character designer.

Teen Monica's Gang is way easier, as it follows more closely the manga style.
This Penadinho 3D cartoon looks good, though.

Penadinho is a pretty stylish design and his stories are really creative for a such unoriginal idea. He's Casper but actually funny and clever. The one were Frank trades brain with a hairdresser and become a complete faggot makes me laugh to this day, and the Death ones are morbidly amazing.

But what happens is that Ziraldo is too tied to his political side, and he seems to be stuck in it since the 60's. He tried to do something different, but he's still associated to his protest work agains the military dictatorship decades ago.
