The guy lives in the shadow of his father, doesn't invent a single thing, barely works out, fights from a distance, only does shit when absolutely necessary, and gets his ass handed to him every other fight. Also not a genius by any definition.

I really don't understand this 'relatable superheroes' meme. Do some people really only read the adventures of characters they can relate to? Why does it matter?
When I read a comic, I don't try to relate to anyone, I want fun, larger than life, exciting adventures.
I'm a straight, white male (I know, I'm horrible), but I never had trouble reading the comics of female, black or LGBT characters, as long as they are WELL WRITTEN. Even shit characters like Donna Troy can be interesting with a good story.

I think it's not necessarily about relating to them but understanding them as a character. Bruce Wayne to me doesn't make sense a lot of the time in modern stuff but he is a richer character in like 80s stuff. It's easy to just label that as being "relatable" rather than fully articulating the specifics of the writing though.
