7/8- damn i got to go, can upload 8/8 oh well, this is a sketch i literally made in 1 minute, 1 minute quick sketch of my original character Danny California the white fire knight

this is Emer's soul sister because Emers soul split into pieces like a rainbow of fire when him and his brother had an epic battle in the fire realm(a type of super hell... like a super saiyen version of hell) long story short his soul nested in the bodies of new born babies around the world and eventually became his new brothers and sisters each one a different colored fire demon, blue, red, pink, white, and orange, the pink fire knight is asian girl(japanese to be exact), the red one is a black dude from the ghetto, etc, etc. and if they become a pillar of fire together and Emer the grandson of Lucifuge becomes complete again they become a giant suit of black armor made of solid black fire. Lucifuge is like a super devil(like a super saiyen version of the devil)

Looking at artists you really like, art that inspires you. Drawing characters or people you like. The Drawthreads can give you some pretty funny ideas or chances to draw things you may not be thinking of.


What you've got looks pretty good, I hope you keep at it.

But if you really have to force yourself then maybe a break is what you need. Still try to sketch regularly though. Skills fade before you know it and it's even harder to get motivated because the shit you do looks worse than ever.

A thought came up. Are art styles in animation copyrighted?

If your trying to JUST make her look tall, there needs to be some kind of reference point. You could maybe do it by shrinking her head slightly but that may not get the point across.

I can also assume you're trying to make her a tough character but do remember that, on average, women have a smaller torso in relation to their hips.

IMO you should try to make your sketches as clean as possible, not hairy lines like you have, the face seems stylized while the body seems to have a more realistic approach so the result is kind of incoherent, it seems kind of stiff and you didn't draw the hands maybe because you don't get the grip of them yet, keep practicing anon, you seem to be really into it!!

I'm still a noob friendo, I'll teach you the one essential lesson to getting better. Experiment. No artist works the same way, no style is handled the same and there's no actual guide to getting actually good. You can learn the basic as to make things look 3d and from there try to learn from other artists.
Not fullfilled with your work? Try something new. Still feel envy for your favorite artist? Ask yourself, how di he draw that and start from there.

(I've been DRAWING for a year now, before that it was just sticks and circles,don't get discouraged if it takes time, I'm actually a tryhard)

I'm trying to design an alien who embodies the classic retro-futuristic scifi aesthetic, but who isn't just a generic Gray or anything like that. Ideally, they'd be as unique as Marvin the Martian. I'm nowhere near creative enough for this, though, and any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've been tossing around something mantis-like, but I think I want them to be heavyset, because not many aliens are. Mars Attacks has the best alien design, as far as I'm concerned.

Get gud with paper first, drawlet. Read the /ic/ sticky, use /ic/ itself at your own peril.

Depending on how bad you are, start with either Keys To Drawing/Right Side of the Brain or Loomis/Prov and continue as dictated by sticky.

If all goes well you should be consistently meh after 3 months, alright after 6 months, and finally decent after 1 year. Probably start your comic after 6-12 months.

In the meanwhile try actually working on your story. Write scripts (like actual tv/movie scripts) to both get shit down on paper about your story and have a good idea for the "feel" of your story, plus cleaning up your writing chops.

I've long decided there is no way I could draw enough to do a comic or work an actual 'art job' but I just wanted to say getting into coding for games + art has kept my attention long enough that drawing is fun again because coding let's me take a break without burning myself out.
