Going to post comics that threw me through a loop. Either in terms of characterization, style, or story. These are comics that wow'd me.

I know the series is fairly knew but Tomasi's Superman run is going to be one of the greats. the art is jaw dropping and Tomasi's handle on the entire Super family is something to be believed. It is seriously one of the best comics I've read and that isn't an hyperbole.

I want to go back and use the 3x3 grid in my own comic. I was always worried about how the 3x3 grid ends up forcing three landscape panels (3 panels max) if you needed to the space which in some circumstances might be considered wasteful but this page kicks the shit out of that. What could have been a simple action scene instead uses the 3x3 to its fullest extent by breaking it up into 9 separate panels and every single one having it's own purpose for the story. If anything I'm getting a Kirby vibe from this page.

I haven't read the entire series (tthink I stopped on 14), but it has a genuinely interesting story at the forefront and the art is full of clean lines and vibrant colors. This comic uses the 2x4 grid for a large majority the issue of it and I find see it as a fantastic influence that I want to carry into my own work

I know this sounds ridiculously, but I consider this book to be some of the most effective paneling I've ever seen in my entire life. Getting some serious Steve Dillon vibes due to the sheer simplicity of the artist's implementation of the 2x4 grid (among many others) and makitng it this series' beitch. It's very hard to describe exactly why I like this issue so muchso I hope one of you guys appreciate it.

I guess you could call this a preview issue to the main series. Wormwood Gentlemen Corpse is a series written and illustrated by Ben Templesmith. He's a creator who's art I feel like is stronger than his writing but this series is a deligh on all frongs.

I enjoyed Templesmith's work on Fell, 30 Days of Night, Gotham by Midnight, and Welcome to Hoxford, but I consider this his strongest work. One of the few series that had me in stitches as I was reading and every page was a feast for the eyes.

I decided to incorporate all the extra pages for this issue, just in case in of yall want it.

Injustice 2 retcons the Arkham breakout. Instead of involving Batman and Nightwing trying to stop the Regime and Robin from moving the inmates to The Trench with Harley getting involved, Superman just shows up to kill inmates and Damian kills Zsasz to prove a point.

The Injustice 2 writers can go fuck themselves if they think they can get rid of this story. Tom Taylor is the only person I consider who has any say in establishing what is canon for this universe.

I just tripped on acid last night and watched a bunch of Superman movies back to back. WHile I completely acknowledge that a lot of them have a heavy handed message at the heart of them but still enjoyable.

One movie in particular that stuck out to me was Superman vs. The Elite which I caught me off guard. Joe Kelly (the author of the issue the story was based on) stepped in to write the script and managed to expand a 40 ish page story into an 75-80 minute animated film. Supes was more than a little hypocritical in certain parts but that absolute steadfast desire to resolve these situations peacefully without a single loss of life spoke to me at a personal level.

This movie reminded me why Superman is my favorite hero of all time. A man with increidble power that uses his abilities to make this world a better place. In this film, Sueprman wasn't quite the pacifist he was portrayed as in Joe Casey's Adventures of Superman series (#612-621) but its easy to see how this version eventually became that.

Bitchin'
>>
While this issue is definitely fun to read and says what it needs to, I consider the movie adaptation to be superior. It's not often that happens.

The Killing Joker
>Book is superior

The Dark Knight Returns
>Movie(s) were great but I still consider the book better.

Batman: YEar One
>Book was better

Instances when I considered the movie better include....
Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox
Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths
Justice League Doom
>Tower of Babel was fun, but I consider the movie a streamlined version that still tells a very coherent story. Factor in good casting and Christopher Drake as the composer (Arkham Origins, Under The Red Hood) and you have a solid movie.
>Also this was the last movie penned by Dwayne McDuffie before he died.
