I fucking love these light-armourbros. The gun on the right is legit my favourite piece of new tech.
Seems like film franchizes always try to up-armor and go bigger, invent more and more elite troops. For all the deathtroopers were alright, these boyos stole the show for me - it's nice to see what can be done by stripping down.

So I just reverted to my natural state and started sketching Padme and Ahsoka trying on underwear. But I can try for requests again in this thread.

1. That stream is where we usually watch new Rebels episodes

Because that's not what we're streaming right now. If you want to watch that stuff, come on at any time during the week, that stuff is playing 24/7 then.

But since it's Wednesday night, we are streaming non-Star Wars stuff as we usually do

I don't want to cause any waves with what I draw (and I certainly don't want to get banned!) Of course I'm totally fine drawing non-lewd/cutesy stuff, I quite enjoy it. But I guess my zone is cheesecake, meme-y stuff, especially if it's got a sense of humour to it.
That said, I don't want to make anything that's inapproproate here (blue board and all).
Anyway, thanks for all the requests. I'm off to bed and I'll read through the thread for them when I wake up. I wish I could draw every one of them!

I don't remember CGI Tarkin looking so much like a desiccated corpse when I saw this in the theater.
>>
Revenge of the Sith has so much CGI in it that by nature of it having amazing looking shots that still hold up to this day, the fact that it had a $110 million budget explains why it also has some terrible looking shots (Grevious in the escape pod, protocol droid with literally no textures on it, the glitchy carpet in Sheev's office, general wonky green screen effects, etc.), but at the same time the fact that it had such a low budget comparative to it's ambition also makes it so much more impressive with what they were able to accomplish.

IMO if George did tone back on making every shot dense or whatever and focused on using CGI when necessary, ROTS would be better looking than most films today and no one would complain about the amount of CGI in the prequels. Because it's not the fact that CGI was used, that's a fucking stupid argument, it's how it was used.

He just got carried away with the freedom of green screens and having the dawn of digital cinema at his finger tips.
>>
>>93525107
miming implies someone is on a street, or in a situation where their action wouldn't make sense.

I'm saying that the pose and framing of the "iconic" volcano scene is too generic to be a noticable reference to the layman, while shots like Darth Vader's and Luke's during the "I am your father" shot, or the start of the duel in ESB, Palpatine's spin in Sith, or sitting in the big chair on the Death Star, are much more noticeable, clearer references and thus more iconic.

If you want an iconic volcano scene, you want the "High Ground" shot.

There's a difference between what you're saying and a backlight having no in scene source. His head doesn't look like it is actually in the depth that surrounds it, and that disparity is something that is better handled nowadays. It's like the star fields in the classic films; they are usually fully in focus, even when things that have a similar depth within the scene are blurred by the focus.

The upper box is the top of the hanger door. The lower box is Anakin.
Notice how the upper box blocks aportion the light reaching down to the lower box.

This means that part of the lower box will be in the upper boxes shadow. Anakin's upper body is clearly within the shadow of the gate, as shown by his own shadow intersecting it, however his face is fully lit and casts a shadow of it's own.

If the digital stage's shadow is correct, Anakin's upper torso neck and head should be in shadow, but still very visible thanks to the massive amount of bounce light. More importantly it would not be casting a shadow on himself, at least not anywhere near the intensity of what is shown.

If the actor lighting is correct, the digital stage's shadow should be moved back, to allow for the full shadow of the character to be visible.

Physically speaking, they both cannot be correct, and the effect, whatever its intended purpose, is only able to be had in a composite shot.

That depends on where the sun is in relation to him and Cloud City. I can't look at that scene in the movie right now, but the clouds and other shots should give some indication of if the sun should be blocked out by Cloud City itself, or if the sun is setting.

They should be! But in this scene, so close to sun set and with what appears to be heavy cloud cover, the two suns wouldn't make much of an impact on that shot.

It wouldn't make much impact. Their light is being heavily diffused, thanks to what I can only assume is a sandstorm in the distance. which means any shadows cast would be very indistinct and bloby. The lower sun would have very little to almost no impact at all in the shot, being as low as it is in the cover there. The upper sun is what would be making any shadows.

What you really want to see is shadows at around noon, assuming that the two suns stay in those positions. It would be like being on stage and having two stage lights on you. Pretty cool.

It would be really neat, but it wouldn't be as super distinct as my Stage Light analogy. The stars are too close together for that, but you get the idea.

It is, the effect there looks like it is earth shadow (the dark part close to the horizon) and the belt of venus (the brighter part above the shadow) this is an effect that you can only see when looking away from the setting or rising sun. If it is earth shadow, then those two stars are composite images.

It has, however, been some time since I've seen the scene, I don't recall if the sky above that bright area is darker.

Since you didn't answer me as to what that had to do with my post, I went ahead and looked at them any way.

I seems he's saying that Anakin's shadow is far too crisp compared to the shadow cast by the hanger door.

This is actually not true. Anakin's shadow is crisper because the object that is casting it, Anakin, is closer to the surface it is being cast on. This means there is less time for the light to diffuse and make the edges muddled like the hanger doors.

Some guy on /pol/ made a greentext fanfiction between Putin and Trump where they husbando'd each other, then paid hookers to piss all over each other, then Trump pissed on Obama dolls and threw them off Trump tower. Then someone in the thread sent it to a journalist and the FBI and it became news with it eventually being reported by the White House that then President Obama had read the reports.

New Servo took some getting used to because he sounds nothing like Kevin Murphy but I think he ended up being the strongest of the three new riffers. New Crow is alright but sounds like he's trying too hard to be Trace. Jonah is kind of meh.

I've only seen up to episode eleven but I'm still on the fence about it.
It's more related to the early, Joel years, of obvious reasons, so if you liked Mike's in universe skits and such you're out of luck there. The feeling in general is there, but I feel like the jokes come a little too fast. I'm still not used to the new voices for Tom and Crow and the bots, and I often frankly wonder why it couldn't have been different bots. Jonah doesn't have the charisma of Mike, but he also lacks the comforting draw of Joel. This isn't totally a bad thing, Jonah should be his own person and character, but he doesn't come off as a leading character like they did, which makes it harder for the characters to play off of each other.

The jokes are generally good, but it feels a little too much like "lets do the old MST3k stuff" rather than "Lets make our own MST3k stuff" the writers and actors just haven't found their place yet, it seems.

>On that note, Star Cards come in five tiers: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. The more valuable the card, the better the buff and the smaller your chances of coming across it.
>It's worth noting that while Star Cards can be upgraded, the highest tier of Legendary must be acquired through the luck of the draw.
>As for what Star Cards actually do, they modify your base abilities. For example, Assault Training offers a health boost for every kill. A Common Assault Training Card will offer a mere 20 HP boost, while an Epic one doubles that at 40 HP per kill. Another example is the Stealth Card, which hides your presence from radars and offers increased melee damage.

Actual gameplay-affecting microtransactions. Not even cosmetics, legitimate boosts for dumping cash in their shitty loot gambling scheme. Bravo EA.

I agree her design is trash but as a character she's pretty interesting. I love the idea of indiana jones in space. The main problem I have with her is all the interaction she has with the main cast of the OT. She would work better as a fringe character that doesn't really interact with any of the main characters imo

Aphra and Luke. She ruined her brief friendship with Luke (as she ends up doing with pretty much everyone), and he told her to fuck off, so she was sulking. So Triple-Zero put her in place by basically noting it's all her fault because she is a selfish fuck-up with no friends. She then left the cockpit, sulking. Presumably to go cry in the corner.

Yeah it does. Vader while lacking in Palpatine's intellect and cunning is still a rather capable leader and strategist who would have had purer intentions for the galaxy, especially if he had his children back. I mean seriously a line of Emperors/Empress' that go like Palpatine > Vader > Luke/Leia would have been pretty good for the Galaxy but instead they tear down the half functioning Empire that would be better with a benevolent Emperor and replace it with the old and broken Republic because "m-muh DEMOCRACY!"

What does it even mean? How can I do something if I don't try to do it?
>>
>>93528929
Don't try using definitions to justify your use of the word in context. You were trying to generalise the entire Empire as being evil which is a highly flawed and foolish stance to take. In fact I never said that Luke or Leia should join the antagonists in any shape or form, I said that if they had been Emperor or Empress after Vader that the galaxy would have been in a good state if not a Golden age. I never said how they would go about achieving such a role but if you must know the intention or thought I had behind the process would be that Vader survives after killing Palpatine and becomes Emperor with Luke or Leia being his heirs which at that point he would no longer be a villain having redeemed himself.

So in the context of my post I did not say at any one point that Luke or Leia would be joining the villains (Palpatine and Vader prior to his redemption) meaning your post is irrelevant and poorly executed.
>>
>>93528982
Okay, dude, I get the meme but it's obvious the empire is presented as the foil to the resistance. The antagonist, to the protagonist. You know, a villain.

In-universe, people hate Aphra because she often ends up somehow screwing them up, betraying them, or owing them money. She's not an inherently bad person, however, although undoubtedly a very flawed one. A bit like a female Han Solo.

In real life, people hate Aphra because they don't read the comics with her and just judge by appearances, thus actually having no idea what they are complaining about.

According to current canon plenty of CIS systems rejected the republic due to oppression. The Republic were the ones to start building the Death Star. The Republic uses a slave army of clones to do their bidding.

The Republic and the Empire are effectively the same faction. You just spend more narrative time with one and get Stockholm syndrome.

Potentially more dynamic, but not in RoTS. The actors are so restrained by their lack of visual context and maneuvering space it never feel like they're a part of their environment. It's like when they go in the chalk painting in Mary Poppins.

Also, compare the shots and the way ships move in RotJ and Empire to RoTS. The opening battle feels lifeless and static, as if nothing's really going on.

Trying implies that you'll bow out upon experiencing failure while simply doing implies continued failure up until the point of success.

Trying is defeatist because while you know your current limits, you'll more than likely give up at them. Doing is consciously surpassing and building upon those limits.

using practical sets and effects is objectively better than cgi in most cases. I don't get how someone can have their head so far up George's ass that they can't see that. There's reasons the acting performances suffered in the prequels and one of those is because the actors very often literally had nothing to work with - just bright as fuck green walls and blocks in every direction. You can hear them complain about it time and time again in the behind the scenes.

>but the bad matte paintings
>but the shitty dollar store masks
>but the blah blah blah

stop picking out examples of bad looking practicals in movies from the 70s/80s as an example of how the prequel cgi didn't look like trash a lot of the time, because those movies suffered from too much cgi and we all know it. Stop pretending otherwise.

>but rogue one and force awakens have more cgi and greenscreen than the prequels!!!11

Yeah but for the most part it's good cgi and it interacts well with the actors that it's meant to be supporting. A lot of movies nowadays have loads of cgi and cgi in almost every shot because they expand practical effects and sets with cgi, not create them altogether from the ground up. David Fincher has a fuckton of cgi in his movies but you don't even notice it because he blends it so seamlessly with real life.

I love the prequels but I wish people would stop making excuses for the stuff that genuinely sucked about them. There isn't a conspiracy agains the prequels by RLM. There are genuine reasons why people have grievances with those movies. Stop being retarded, /swco/

Well, you have to start somewhere. I agree she was being an ass until the end, and Luke was right to tell her to fuck off, but she genuinely felt guilty and changed her mind. Luke saw good in her at some point, and so did Rur, Between this and her concern about the disasters on Alderaan and Jehda in the previous arc, I believe she's on the path of becoming a batter person.

I have to say, even though I'd much rather have content from the ST, rather than more OT or PT stuff, I do like Aphra and her little side story, a lot more than just going around watching Luke, Leia and Solo dick around until the next movie bit is supposed to happen.

>>
>>93530321
I'm not sure what this has to do with the post you replied to, but I agree.

ST will probably be pretty much off-limits until all the movies are released. But I think the main title is just advancing chronologically, regardless of how movies come out. I guess something like issue 100 will be around ESB, issue 150 will be ROTJ, and then it will begin bridging the gap between OT and ST. But since we already know the fates of all the main characters, it's more interesting to have additional characters like Aphra whose story can go in any direction.
>>
>>93530396
>Luke should've put his youthful maximalism aside
No, the Maximals always need more help fighting the evil Predacons!
>>
>>93530463
It had nothing to do with the post, other than bringing to mind the sentiment.
The idea of the ST stuff being off limits is something of a downer for me. In my mind it would be better if the additional content in the forms of books, comics, cartoons ect. advanced with the movies, rather than being an after thought. If it's an after thoughts, well, then I'm back in the same position I am with the OT and PT stuff we have. It becomes less interesting because I already know that any kind of issue they have they will solve, because they're in a movie that happens later.
>>
>>93530530
They seem to be trying to avoid the issue of Legends where a lot of content in between the films would come out, with much to all of it being questionable or dubious in regards to canonicity. And with the new emphasis on canon content, I can see why they'd want to play it as safe as they are. It's dull for those who do want more to invest in, but avoiding the likelihood of another reboot would be at the top of my list, too.
>>
>>93530530
>>93530644
You'd think with a Story Group overseeing stuff this wouldn't be a problem. Catalyst tied into Rogue One just fine, and Rebels did a Saw Gerrera episode which set up his poisoning and his extremist views...
And yet we don't see other stuff from Rogue One anywhere else much. They couldn't even get the droids of K-2's model in Rebels because they didn't have the final design at that time.
>>
>>93530644
The issue wouldn't really exist if they'd plotted out the ST in the first place, like some people seem to think the Story Group has done. If the main story is completed, additional content can be added and made sure to fit into the larger storyline without complications.

The issues with the legends stuff was that everything wasn't under one roof, the EU wasn't beholden to an existing storyline, not in the same way that the books and stuff are now. These days it should be a non-issue.

Judging by what we've heard from directors so far, nothing seems to be pre-planned except for their following the basic outline of Lucas's ST story treatments. They're pretty much refining and filling the gaps in said treatments during pre production and general production. The Story Group's function regarding the films seems to be akin to Lucas's picking things from the EU to incorporate into the Prequels. Directors generally otherwise have free reign so long as they heed the important issues in the story treatments while still adding in their own flair.
