Was he in the right?

Only if Hank was actually as big a failure as Cotton thought
so no

Hank has been working for Strickland for what, 16 years? How many times has he been promoted? Seems like a pretty big failure to me.

Assistant manager isn't a bad spot to get "stuck" in, he clearly makes a decent amount of money.
Besides, what's Cotton done in comparison? Killed fiddy men and then lived off other americans' tax dollars for his life.

Was cotton a nigger?

I'm not seeing how having a steady job and providing a stable middle class home for a family is being a failure

Don't ask us anon, ask those fifty men he killed

>middle class

In the episode where Bobby mistakenly believes Hank is rich and goes on a spending spree, Hank shows him how much he actually makes and Bobby expressed surprise at how little it is, to which Hank says something to the effect of "it's not much but it's enough to get by."

Maybe failure was too strong a word, but he's certainly very mediocre.
Inb4 "hurr ur judgmental"
Hank is one of the most judgmental protagonists of any sitcom so I'm just giving him his just desserts.

Where would Hank get promoted to? The only person above him is Buck, and Buck owns the place.
Yes, Hank's loyalty to Buck is dumb as all Hell, but he's held in place by a "favorable" trait not a failing.

I don't think Hank sees it as a failure though he seems to revel in middle class life, it's simple and not lavish like in New York.
