Suicide is a heavy subject unless you're being goofy with somewhat darkish humor (maybe light grey humor), and since comics these days are either vaguely grounded in reality, MUH BROODING EDGINESS, or safe and zany XD, there just isn't a lot you can do with it beyond drumming up some cheap drama or delivering a "very important message".
