Probably the getting paid monthly on Patreon to produce pages at a rate of less than that thing. It seems like his pace has picked up recently, but it's still abyssmal.

Compare to Outsider, a comic that's been running even longer, probably has an even shittier update speed, but when they went to patreon they set it up as being paid per page, not per a period of time. Dude only gets patreon bux when he actually makes something.
