They basically weren't allowed to beat any of their major villains, the big demon guy had them beat but gave up because his helmet got knocked off an "THIS ISN'T THE WAY I WANT TO WIN!1!".
This kinda is DBZ the comic, since all the humans are worthless next to the aliens, but with more terrible melodrama crammed in (Mark and Atom Eve are a terrible couple, but they get so much screentime)
